  1. I tried iced tea three weeks out and boy was I sensitive to the caffeine. I kid you not, 4 tablespoons kept me up for 2 days. I don't tend to drink caffeine so maybe I'm just weird

    So pissed...

If they don't refund, sick your bank on them. Call the fraud department and have them investigate

Did you keep your surgery a secret?

Mine is a secret. Someone at work just told me, "you look like you're getting smaller... Are you doing anything?"

    Pain when eating or drinking

Yes, that's right where it is for me. I guess if a bunch of us have it, maybe we're all sensitive. *phew* I was getting a bit scared about that

    Kaiser Northern Ca?

I was over by .5 of my goal weight and got the okay. Day of surgery showed me having gained 2 and here I am now, sleeved. Unless you gain like 10 pounds by surgery date, you should be fine

    Letter to Human Resources (long)

I had trouble securing a leave of absence to have my surgery. My human resources person was a huge hurdle every step of the way. Funny thing is: their insurance doesn't cover Bariatric surgery either. And they were amazed that mine does. And that's when the hurdles started. I had to have my surgeon write them a letter, after which I was told I was approved. I truly wonder what he said, because whatever it was, they changed their tune and gave me time off. I was told I was good to go... 2 days before surgery. I would have quit if they would have denied me time

    Bread...?

Bread isn't worth it honestly. I was doing a bakery shift at work and just had a pinch of bread out of the oven. Then another. Long story short, I ate around 200 calories of bread. Thank god for scales in the bakery. And about... 4 or so hours later, I was starving, my stomach stopped hurting finally, and I was so tired! Bread gives you no energy and is a waste of sleeve space. Made me realize that my unhealthy obsession with bread explains my low energy levels for all these years. If you have to eat bread, go for whole grain bread

    No Pre-op diet

Kaiser in Nor Cal doesn't require a pre op diet either.
  17. UPCAL D!!! My nut swears by this stuff. It's powdered.

Dont be a tough guy - take your meds

I had this same argument with my nurse in the hospital and then again with my nurse at my 1 week follow up. I have never taken meds for pain. Advil for a headache, no. I barely take pills as it is. Was a tough situation to be in having the nurses encourage you to hit your morphine and my family having taught me that it's bad to dump chemicals into your body. Only time I took meds was in the hospital and it was simply to put me to sleep. Post op, I was in some pain, but although the nurse stressed that I should take the lortab, I still have the sealed bottle in my cabinet. It won't kill you to not take it, and likewise it won't kill you to take it. Personal preference is all
  19. You'll feel the restriction when you're on solids. I was able to eat 1/2 of cottage cheese at 2 weeks. And felt like a failure. Had a standard size chef salad today for dinner. I ate... About 1/3. Use to be able to do 2 of these plus a sandwich and a drink. Hang in there

Gym and 3 weeks post op

Lmao! Oh Sarah, I think all the uproar about your half glass is funny. I have run into you on a few of these threads so far. Stay away from crunches! I decided that I was fine to do them I think at 3 or 4 weeks. And yeah, I ended up with a pain in my biggest incision. Not worth it. Walking is always good, keep your legs toned. Just light work outs to keep the skin toned.

    Alcohol

I got really drunk 6 weeks out, I drank many double shots that night. To each their own, I'm not too big on drinking very often, but when I drink, I go all in.

    chipotle? subway?

Subway can make the sandwiches into bowls. I got a meatball marinara. No bread, I ate 2 meatballs and some cheese plus veggies. I'm 2 months out. It's crazy, portion size that it. I use to be able to inhale 2 foot longs. Now I can barely eat 1/2 of a 6 inch. Haven't tried chipotle, but when I go to Mexican places, I ask for _________ without the tortilla. Tacos no tortilla, quesadillas no tortilla, etc. most places are pretty nice about it.

    Help....

How's your fluid intake and bowel movements?

I am scared to go through wls

Yes, it's normal. I pretty much self sabotaged until I finally got my date. I am almost 8 weeks post op and feel great. I can eat a little of everything, but not like before. Instead of a full dish, I can eat 1/4, 1/3 on a period day (like today) It's really worth it in the end. I am finally starting to be happy with myself
