    BMI and Comorbidities

thanks! I guess it all does depend on the individual and if the surgeon thinks you should have it done. I guess each person and case is different.

    sleep study

Were you able to hook yourself up to the machine or did the technician have to come in and do it?

I acutally just made my first appt. to see Dr. Hamn in Plano Jan.30th I'll update as I learn how this whole process will work. I'm going to see my primary care dr. this Wednesday and tell her what i'm up too...I hope she does not get upset for me choosing a dr. without her input on surgeons in my area.

    BCBS of illinois

Just spend the last few hours searching the bcbs website for texas, illinois, oklahoma and new mexico...It directed me to their parent site and this is what i found. http://asmbs.org/2011/12/hcsc-removes-mandatory-pre-operative-weight-loss-requirement/ Looks like it's really true. As of 2011, they no longer require the 3 or 6 month diet before surgery. I'm sure it's left up to the Surgeon on what's best for you though.

Thanks for the response....I'm in Texas and would like to use Dr. Stephen Hamn...at Plano Baylor Hospital.
  13. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the sleeve and nissen reversal. Your weight lose is incredible and I know you have to feel so much better now. I really don't even know why i had the nissen in the first place....but all test showed i had acid reflux with a large hiatal hernia. I have never had heartburn...so i really don't think i will have a problem with it when they take it down for the surgery. Hoping to be approved Thanks again so much....I really do appreciate your response.
  14. Would love to hear any updates for you folks that got your nissen fundoplication taken down in order to get the gastric sleeve. I had the fundo done 3 years ago. I'm worried my insurance bcbs of illinois will refuse to pay to undo it for the procedure. All my test prior to the fundo procedure showed i had acid reflux but i never in my life had heart burn. I had a large hiatal hernia that was also repaired.
