  1. Has anyone heard this? I went in to see Dr Kim today and the insurance lady said I would have to use Baylor Trophy Club because Forest Park is closing. I was shocked to hear that. She said he wasn't scheduling anymore surgeries there for that reason.
  2. It didn't seem right to me either but that's what she told me. It wasn't anything to do with my insurance, she specifically said it was "closing". There were tons of people there when I had my ECG and it was a great facility so I was surprised.

  4. I live in Grand Prairie and I've been seeing Dr. Kim for a band to sleeve revision. He does surgery at both hospitals so I would love to hear feedback on your experiences. Both hospitals are a drive for me so its not a matter of which is most convenient, although I work just down 75 from FP so I know my way around that area better. I had my EGD at FP today and every nurse and doctor I saw was so exceptionally friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I had been thinking I would go to Baylor for surgery but now I'm not so sure..lol!!

    Anyone members at planet fitness?

They have opened locations somewhat near me but none I could get to easily so I'm hoping they are moving this way! From the things I've been reading here its a great place.
  6. About to go get checked in for my sleep study. On step closer to being sleeved!

    Sleep study tonight

I heard from the sleep center on Friday that I showed no signs of apnea. Yay!! I didn't think I had it but it was great to hear it officially!

    Sleep study tonight

I survived mine but hardly slept! First the room got terribly hot so I had to call them in to fix it. Then I kicked off a leg sensor and they had to come in. They came in and woke me at 4:30am to go home. I know I didn't sleep more than 4 hours. All they told me was I didn't snore and they got the readings they needed but I haven't heard anything back from them or my surgeons office.

    Sleep study tonight

I have so many wires on me it's ridiculous!! Lol!!
  11. I went to my consult today. I felt like it was very thorough. The doc said I was the 9th person he had seen today interested in a band to sleeve revision. He thought based on our exam I was a great candidate for revision (barring anything that might pop up on a test later of course) so we got the ball rolling. Eeekkk!! I have to go for a sleep study and an endoscopy as well as have an EKG. The earliest I could have the endoscopy would be 2/21. He went ahead and unfilled my band today and I have to say it kinda feels weird knowing there's nothing in there after all this time! I do feel like this is the way to go for me. I NEED to do this. But I just wish I could fast forward through this part and the recovery and just get on with the losing part! Lol !

WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU

If you have a flu diagnosis from the doc you need Tamiflu. I had the flu over Christmas and I've never been so sick in my life. You need a prescription for the good stuff not OTC meds. Hope you feel better soon!!

    My Texas Sleevers

Hello everyone!! Grand Prairie here and had my consult with Dr Kim today. He unfilled my lap band and we are getting the ball rolling!! I'm scared and excited!!
  14. I've been thinking about a revision for a long time now. I've spent soo much time here reading others success stories and some that had complications too. It's finally my turn to go in and meet with the doctor and I'm sick to my stomach thinking about it! I guess it's normal to be apprehensive about such a major surgery but I was not expecting this! If just the consult has me feeling like this I can't imagine how I will feel before surgery!
  15. I have my consult tomorrow and I'm freaking out! I can't imagine how I would feel the night before doing it! Best of luck to you!!

    Dr Clayton Frenzel

I had a consult with him and could never get his staff in Arlington to return my phone calls!! It got so frustrating that I just decided to look elsewhere. I also found very little feedback on this forum or OH about him so that was part of my decision as well. I'm glad you had a great experience with him! Best of luck!

I had my revision on 1/15/13

Good luck! I'm not banded yet but hope to be soon!
  18. Can the band be taken out and the sleeve done in one surgery or are they done separately? I am changing insurance in January and will be scheduling a consult ASAP but the thought crossed my mind tonight so I thought I would ask. Thanks!
  19. I called the office and asked about the sleep study. The guy I talked to said that based on my BMI he didn't THINK I would need one but he couldn't say for sure without the doctor evaluating me. I go next Wednesday so I'm getting nervous and excited. The guy said I have "excellent" insurance coverage so I was soo relieved to hear that!!

    Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !

A question for any of Dr. Kim's patients.. Did you have to do a sleep study? I am looking to have a revision and have a consult with him next week. I have limited time off and 2 small kids so really don't want to have to do a sleep study too. Thx!!
  21. I will be watching the replies to your post. I'm seeing Dr Kim for a consult on the 23rd. The sleep study is not something I was even thinking I would need so I hope that's not the case. I hope you get answers soon!
  22. Hoping to have a revision consult soon and trying to get all of my questions in order. I know I want to ask about anesthesia because I always get sick after I've had it. My band placement was miserable because I woke up so so sick after surgery. I also want to know how the surgeon closes the stomach. Does he just use staples or some kind of "glue" for lack of a better term or both? What did you ask your surgeon?

    So sad at times

I completely understand how you are feeling. We just returned from a trip to Disney World last week. It was hard but I forced myself to pose with my kiddos and Mickey and Minnie and countless others. I did it for my kids because they don't see me as fat..they just see me as mom. I have sat out of many many pictures in the past and I've taken a "what the hell" attitude about it recently. I hope to be sleeved early 2013 so these will be the LAST Disney pics of me that look this way. That thought was empowering to me!
