  1. I went in for a band to sleeve revision on June and woke up with no sleeve. My band had erosion they didn't see in the EGD and a lot of scar tissue. The band was removed but I had to wait on the sleeve. I'm officially back on the schedule for 8/29! Having to wait has sucked. I should already be healing and moving on but I'm still stuck here waiting...again. I'm glad my surgeon was cautious but it was still a huge disappointment. Sigh...bring on August!!

You can choose chocolate or vanilla. I went with vanilla because you can add other flavors to it and I get bored easily of the same stuff.

I agree. My drain didn't hurt it was just awkward to deal with. Mine hardly had any output before I even left the hospital but they still left it in for a week. Sigh... Lol!!

Mine didn't hurt at all! The skin at the incision sites is still probably kinda numb, at least it was for me. Didn't feel a thing! I also came home with a drain..so gross...and was more worried about them taking that out. It didn't hurt either, just felt weird. Lol!

Really!? So if he's not with Aetna and not going to be with UHC... That's a lot of patients he won't be able to see!!

Oh and yes, he did want me to wait a bit so I could heal before we do the sleeve. He said 6-8 weeks from the band removal and 8/29 was the first available date. And since he's leaving the UHC network it's also the last day he will be doing surgeries at Baylor TC.

I don't remember exactly how long it was from approval to being on the schedule, I think it was about 2 months.

I am also a patient of Dr Kim. I went in for a band to sleeve revision on 6/10 but due to the amount of scar tissue he found he didn't sleeve me that day. Talk about a disappointing wake up. I am very grateful that he's a cautious surgeon though. I am back on the books for part 2 on 8/29. The day before I went for my post op visit I got a letter from my insurance company (UHC) that effective 9/4 Dr Kim is not going to be in network anymore. That freaked me out. They are getting me in before the cutoff thankfully. I did have my surgery at Baylor TC and they were wonderful. There are only about 20 rooms there and I felt like I got a lot of personal attention. I was up and waking as soon as I could because I remember the gas pain I had with the band and never want to do that again! They kept me for 2 nights and I left there feeling pretty good. Hoping for the same results in August!!

    August 5

Congrats!! I'm scheduled for part 2 of my band to sleeve on 8/29. In June I went in for a one-step revision but because of the amount of scar tissue the surgeon found and some erosion he didn't feel it was safe to do the sleeve that day. That was not news I was happy to wake up to but I'm glad he's being cautious. Best of luck to you!!

Once your staples are out you will feel soo much better! I went in for a revision with Dr Kim in June and because of the erosion and scar tissue he found he wasn't able to do it in one surgery. I was so disappointed when I woke up even though I do appreciate his caution. I'm back on the books for Part 2 on August 29th!

    Rescheduled!

I went in for my revision 6/10 but due to the amount of scar tissue I wasn't able to get my sleeve. That was a disappointing conversation let me tell you. In hindsight I do appreciate my surgeons caution but at the time I was sooo not happy. Today I got the call that I've been rescheduled for 8/29!! I am excited and ready to get this done!!

    Rescheduled!

He was able to remove the scar tissue when I had the band removed. He just wanted me to be all healed up before proceeding with the sleeve.
  14. I ended up not being able to have my revision in one surgery, woke up to find the band was removed but no sleeve since there was so much scar tissue. My removal was 6/10 and other than the drain I still have recovery has been really pretty easy. If you've had 2 procedures which was the most difficult to recover from? I'm seeing my surgeon next week and hope to schedule my sleeve surgery soon! Thanks!
  15. I go in today to get my drain and staples out and i'm skeered!! I hate this drain and will be sooo happy when its gone but I'm afraid it's going to hurt!!
  16. I am excited but starting to get nervous!! I go in for my pre-op on the 28th. It will be even MORE real then! EEEKKK!!
  17. I went in Monday for my band to sleeve revision an woke up with no sleeve. My band was so badly damaged that it too a lot to get it out and clean out the scar tissue. I am still very disappointed but glad my surgeon was being cautious about it. I also woke up with a drain. Ugh. On the top of my list of things I didn't want. It won't come out until next week when I see the doc. So here's the question.. How do you shower with it? The nurse changed the dressing before I left today and sent me home with 1 extra bandage and tape and said try not to it wet in the shower. How the heck am I supposed to manage that!?
  18. I came in for a band to sleeve revision but due to some erosion he found he felt it was safer to do 2 surgeries. I appreciate his concern but I am so disappointed. I don't know if I will be able to afford another surgery.

    Couldny get my sleeve today

Yes I'm seeing Dr Kim. He said it had probably been 2 years since he'd seen a case like mine. Lucky me.

  21. This happened to me too. I went in for my pre-op and my BP was too high to even do the cardiac testing so I was referred to a cardiologist. I was really stressing because I only had a week until surgery (going in today!). I got into the cardiologist last Monday and was put on 2 meds after my stress test. I started them that day then went back last Thursday for a BP check and finally got the go-ahead for surgery. Talk about cutting it close! I've been on my pre-op diet and taking my meds this last week and it's finally the day! You will do great!!
