  1. Definitely much better than struggling to find a pair pants that is big enough. That's funny that you stepped out of your shoe. lol. I can't wait to get back to wearing high heels. As far as a wedding band, I don't have one. I've been with my bf 6 years, and I still haven't given up hope for that shiny stone. Maybe by the time I'm at a healthy weight.
  2. I had nausea, but my Dr. gave me a medication that helped a lot. I have heard of people having hiccups. Personally, when I take down liquid too quickly or am getting full I sneeze. Weirdest thing.
  3. Congratulations! I am 2 weeks out of surgery & stories like yours are very inspiring.
  4. I have BCBS *** insurance. I went to the bariatric surgeon first. I then had to get a letter from my PCP & a list of other tests given to me by the surgeon's office. They knew exactly what I needed to get approved. I had all my results from my testing sent to my surgeon's office. They coordinated everything & I got approved on my first try.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. I just hate the parking & crowds this time of year & I am not an early riser. I did all of my Christmas shopping on Cyber Monday. LOL
  6. Thanks for the tip. When is your surgery?
  7. I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op & looking for ideas for exercise. My exercise before surgery was Aqua Aerobics & Gentle Yoga. The Dr. has said that I can't go in a pool for at least a month & no Yoga until 8 weeks post-op. I am not the biggest fan of walking. I live in upstate NY & it is COLD. I am really getting antsy & want to get moving. Any suggestions?
  8. Thanks! It does make me feel like I want to get out of the house more. I am only 2 weeks post-op & am limited at the gym. My gym does have an indoor track, though. I live in upstate NY & the weather is too cold for outside walking. Seeing the progress I have made in such a short time without exercise makes me want to move!
  9. So Inspiring! I am just starting out & this is very encouraging. Thank you for sharing!
  10. I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I am down 36 or 37 pounds. My boyfriend said that he can really notice a difference in my face, but I haven't noticed anything myself. I haven't left my apartment since surgery & have limited my wardrobe to pajama or yoga pants. Today I decided to venture out because my puppy ran out of treats last night. I decided to make myself presentable for the general public. That's when I got not 1 but 3 surprises. Surprise #1 my jeans were loose at the waste! I had to roll them at the waist once so they wouldn't fall down. Surprise #2 I put on my shoes & THEY were loose! I didn't realize that my feet had gotten fat too! I got to my car & that was where I got Surprise #3. I usually have my car seat moved all the way back so that I can fit in the seat belt & not have the steering wheel sticking in my stomach. I can always tell when my boyfriend has used my car because when I get in I am all smooshed up & have to readjust the seat & the wheel. Today when I got in I could tell that he had used my car, but I only needed to move the seat back about 2 inches. I am officially shrinking! The scale hasn't moved in the past few days so, I really needed today. What a great day of surprises. I look forward to many more to come!
  11. I went through this. I am not that far out myself - just 2 1/2 weeks. I have horrible sleep apnea & was told that I could not use my bipap machine until cleared also. It was absolutely horrible. Luckily I didn't have to go to work. I just took sleep when I could get it day or night. I found that it took about 6 pillows all propped up to get comfortable enough leaning back in bed to sleep. On day 10 I got cleared to use my bipap machine. It's only in the past 2 days that I have been able to sleep on my side again & I am down to 4 pillows. I was also not afraid to use my pain med at night. You will get through it. Right now you just have to find what works best for you. It will get better soon, though. Good luck to you!
  12. I lost 22 pounds my first week. Then 8 lbs my 2nd week. The scale hasn't moved in about 5 days now, though, so I think your experience is not too far from normal. I got really excited when I lost so much the first week. I was on the scale everyday watching it go down 3 or 4 pounds. Now with it not moving in 5 days I am feeling pretty depressed. So, be happy with what you do lose. Just don't count on losing at that rate for very long. Best of luck to you!
  13. I would never laugh. I actually have been really wanting to learn how to crochet myself. Did you teach yourself? I really don't know anyone who does it who could teach me. I am on disability & home all day. I had no idea how much I was relying on food to fill my time until I came home from surgery. I am bored out of my mind right now & have no hobbies to speak of. I would really love more info. Good luck with your big change! When you are feeling well enough, I would love to hear more about how to lean to crochet.
  14. I reacted the same way at first. When I smelled the bacon I literally said, "Are you kidding me? Do you not understand what I'm going through?!" He said he did and I just angrily said "Obviously, you don't". It wasn't until I calmed down & actually talked with him & straight out asked for his help that I got it. I hope that it goes well for you. I know how difficult this is being only 1 week ahead of you. We can do this! Be strong.
  15. I am 2 weeks post-op. I had to do the first week of just water. Now I am on shakes & water. I had the same issue with my boyfriend who I live with. He actually made bacon & eggs. It was torture. I just straight out asked him to not eat at home until I could at least move onto soft foods. I asked him nicely & explained how much I needed his help to be successful. Since then he has been great about eating away from home. Have you asked him to not eat in front of you? Sometimes men really need things spelled out. LOL
  16. If in doubt, call your surgeon's office. I have a couple of tattoos & there is always a risk for infection afterwards. They also require a lot of aftercare. Why not get the surgery first, see how you feel & then get the new tattoo? Anyway, I would check with the Dr. Good luck!
  17. Pure Protein RTD 12 oz. has 110 calories, 1g fat, 1g sugar & 23g protein.
  18. Definitely call your doctor. I know my doctor doesn't want me really lifting much of anything for a full 8 weeks. Also, if I have to bend they want it done from the knees & not the waist. I wouldn't take any chances.
  19. I will be 14 days post-op tomorrow. I have been experiencing the same thing. I was concerned that my sleeve may have stretched. Other members here assured me that this is very normal & things will change as soon as we are allowed to eat anything even semi-solid. So, I am going to take their word for it. Good luck to you!
  20. Thank you. I have a feeling that I will be one of those people who fight for every pound. After not seeing the scale move for 4 days I am thinking about not weighing myself every day. I also am constantly reminding myself that the my sleeve is just a tool for me to utilize. It's not magic. It is nice to know that I am not alone.
  21. This was very helpful. Thank you. I see the nutritionist finally this Friday. I am going to make sure that things are very clear before I leave the office.
  22. Well, things are still moving in the right direction, but I am still a bit nervous. I took off 7 lbs. pre-op, 22 lbs. week 1 & now 8 lbs. week 2. So, I am now down 37 lbs. & right on the border of going into the 370's. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for every pound that comes off. Every pound down is me a pound healthier & a step in the right direction. I just have been in the 380's on my own before in the past year, but was never able to break into the 370's. I think once I've hit that milestone & keep going down that I will breathe a little bit easier. I will know that, yes, this tool of getting the sleeve is helping me do something that I was not able to do on my own. Anyone else have similar fears at the beginning?
  23. Wow! A lot of people tomorrow...I'm only two weeks out & remembering surgery day very well. Good luck to you all! You will all be just fine.
  24. Thanks. I guess I really don't consider pudding as a liquid so I was pretty concerned. It is certainly much thicker than a protein shake. so, this is not uncommon?
  25. I am only 12 days out of surgery & I'm concerned that my sleeve may be stretched already. Is that possible??? Up until today I have followed the Dr.'s directions perfectly. Getting in plenty of water. As a matter of fact I was on strictly water for the first week. This past week I have been allowed 3 protein shakes a day as well as water. I have been VERY hungry the past two days. Today I ate Bariwise pudding. It has 15g of protein & almost no fat or carbs. I ate one serving (a 1oz package mixed with 4oz of water). It went down easily. I didn't have any problems getting it down rather quickly & I am still hungry! I'm concerned that somehow my sleeve may have somehow been stretched already. Anyone have any input or similar experiences?
