    Anorexic?

Actually, one of the listed POSSIBLE side effects that I had to sign off on pre surgery was risk for anorexia. I don't see the goal of this surgery as to starve myself, but to only give the body what it needs to be healthy. We SHOULD be able to get in proper nutrition, but not overeat.

    Is this normal? Getting nervous...

I definitely understand your concern. I am afraid that if I can eat this much so soon & tolerate it so easily & have REAL hunger then I am not going to get the results I want. You said that you are losing slowly, but are you losing consistently? You are the only one I have come across that has this similar situation.

    Is this normal? Getting nervous...

How long ago were you sleeved? Have they done any x-rays or tests?

    Is this normal? Getting nervous...

I take anywhere from 30-40 minutes to eat a meal.

    Is this normal? Getting nervous...

No. I wait until at least 45 minutes after I am finished eating to drink my water.

    Able to eat an egg?

I'm not even 3 weeks out. Today I ate 1/2 CUP of egg salad & a whole cup each of vegetarian chili & also cottage cheese. Not all at the same time, but over the course of 3 meals. I guess everyone is different.
  7. This thread is cracking me up. If you want the nutritional info you can Google it. LOL

    What is the leak test?

I had to have one to be cleared to leave the hospital. I guess every surgeon is different. Idk what I had to swallow, but it was the most disgusting thing that I have ever tasted. I hope that you have a better experience.
  9. 2 weeks before I felt like trying it & I was fine. No stomach problems or any other problems.
  10. Luckily, I had a one on one pre-op. They said as early as 2 weeks out from surgery. That being said I am 2 1/2 weeks out & have had my period for the past 9 days. I think it has something to do with all the estrogen being dumped into my system. Anyway, I was told 2 weeks & just go easy for awhile. Hope this helps.

    Post op diet question

I know my Dr. doesn't allow any fruit at first...too high in carbs. Best to check with the Dr. or your nutritionist,
  12. I wish that I could help you, but I am only 2 1/2 weeks post-op myself. What peaked my interest is that you're a vegetarian. I gave up meat before surgery, and I was wondering what you eat post-op? It would be really helpful to me. Thanks!

    Three Unexpected Surprises Today!

Definitely much better than struggling to find a pair pants that is big enough. That's funny that you stepped out of your shoe. lol. I can't wait to get back to wearing high heels. As far as a wedding band, I don't have one. I've been with my bf 6 years, and I still haven't given up hope for that shiny stone. Maybe by the time I'm at a healthy weight.
  14. I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I am down 36 or 37 pounds. My boyfriend said that he can really notice a difference in my face, but I haven't noticed anything myself. I haven't left my apartment since surgery & have limited my wardrobe to pajama or yoga pants. Today I decided to venture out because my puppy ran out of treats last night. I decided to make myself presentable for the general public. That's when I got not 1 but 3 surprises. Surprise #1 my jeans were loose at the waste! I had to roll them at the waist once so they wouldn't fall down. Surprise #2 I put on my shoes & THEY were loose! I didn't realize that my feet had gotten fat too! I got to my car & that was where I got Surprise #3. I usually have my car seat moved all the way back so that I can fit in the seat belt & not have the steering wheel sticking in my stomach. I can always tell when my boyfriend has used my car because when I get in I am all smooshed up & have to readjust the seat & the wheel. Today when I got in I could tell that he had used my car, but I only needed to move the seat back about 2 inches. I am officially shrinking! The scale hasn't moved in the past few days so, I really needed today. What a great day of surprises. I look forward to many more to come!

    Nausea and hiccups

I had nausea, but my Dr. gave me a medication that helped a lot. I have heard of people having hiccups. Personally, when I take down liquid too quickly or am getting full I sneeze. Weirdest thing.

    100 pounds gone-update

Congratulations! I am 2 weeks out of surgery & stories like yours are very inspiring.
  17. I have BCBS *** insurance. I went to the bariatric surgeon first. I then had to get a letter from my PCP & a list of other tests given to me by the surgeon's office. They knew exactly what I needed to get approved. I had all my results from my testing sent to my surgeon's office. They coordinated everything & I got approved on my first try.

Suggestions for Excercise 2 weeks post-op

Thanks for the suggestion. I just hate the parking & crowds this time of year & I am not an early riser. I did all of my Christmas shopping on Cyber Monday. LOL

    Three Unexpected Surprises Today!

Thanks! It does make me feel like I want to get out of the house more. I am only 2 weeks post-op & am limited at the gym. My gym does have an indoor track, though. I live in upstate NY & the weather is too cold for outside walking. Seeing the progress I have made in such a short time without exercise makes me want to move!

    No Sleep

I went through this. I am not that far out myself - just 2 1/2 weeks. I have horrible sleep apnea & was told that I could not use my bipap machine until cleared also. It was absolutely horrible. Luckily I didn't have to go to work. I just took sleep when I could get it day or night. I found that it took about 6 pillows all propped up to get comfortable enough leaning back in bed to sleep. On day 10 I got cleared to use my bipap machine. It's only in the past 2 days that I have been able to sleep on my side again & I am down to 4 pillows. I was also not afraid to use my pain med at night. You will get through it. Right now you just have to find what works best for you. It will get better soon, though. Good luck to you!

    Weight loss normal track?

I lost 22 pounds my first week. Then 8 lbs my 2nd week. The scale hasn't moved in about 5 days now, though, so I think your experience is not too far from normal. I got really excited when I lost so much the first week. I was on the scale everyday watching it go down 3 or 4 pounds. Now with it not moving in 5 days I am feeling pretty depressed. So, be happy with what you do lose. Just don't count on losing at that rate for very long. Best of luck to you!
  24. All of us who have had this surgery had to quit smoking well in advance. I am now 10 days post-op & on a liquid only diet for another 11 days. I have found that in the past 2 days I have had SEVERE nicotine cravings. Is anyone else dealing with this? How do you cope? I think that I was okay without the cigarettes when I had food to soothe my nerves. Now I literally can't eat food so I think that is why I am wanting cigarettes. Yes, I have tried the take a walk, call a friend, etc. approach. I know that I can't be the only one...

    Ex-Smokers...Cravings?

I would never laugh. I actually have been really wanting to learn how to crochet myself. Did you teach yourself? I really don't know anyone who does it who could teach me. I am on disability & home all day. I had no idea how much I was relying on food to fill my time until I came home from surgery. I am bored out of my mind right now & have no hobbies to speak of. I would really love more info. Good luck with your big change! When you are feeling well enough, I would love to hear more about how to lean to crochet.
