    Watermelon

Watermelon is really high on the glycemic index for fruits meaning it has the most sugars per serving. For those of us following a stricter primal or paleo diet sugars are reduced. I too love watermelon but now eat it very sparingly.

    Reward at Goal..need ideas!

Well since you have new clothes and a trip is out and assuming you want to do something different to Celebrate..how about doing a volunteering activity? Like maybe do something with your church or the Animal Protective League or a food Bank? I regularly volunteer and find it really rewarding. Although I am not going to lie, when I hit goal I am taking a trip to Italy or Ireland!

    Exercised muscle holds water...

Girl...remember..the scale is just a NUMBER..it doesn't define you! The last month since I have increased the amount of exercise I am doing and the amount of calories I am eating I have bounced around the same 2 pounds each week with no real loss. This morning I woke up..bam 2 pounds down. You are doing great! Keep that workout going..you will be so glad you did!

protein bars with only 2.5 net carbs & ZERO sugar

I agree. I prefer the quest bars because they are low sugar and high Fiber. I am sure these are delicious but I ca't eat stuff with sugar alcohols in them.

    Walking Isnt Enough

I would agree with the strength training! I never thought I would be one of those girls who like to "lift weights" but I am FAST falling in love with it. Check your local rec center or your YMCA, they often will have programs that include strength training and cardio combined. If you can afford it hire a trainer for a few sessions or there are a number of videos on proper form etc. I also think you need to get out of your own head with what someone has arbitrarily defined as "enough". You are moving and losing weight and that seems pretty darn fine to me.

I agree that right after might be hard because of limited calories but talk to them, they might be able to do some tailoring for you. I found out how weak I am today! Workout was: 4 rounds of 500 meter row 5 knees to chest 10 push presses 20 squats We added five pounds to the 25 pound bar and I freaking struggled with each set..arching my back etc..blah At least I am getting deep on the squats!

    feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

Sleeved 2/12/13..down 56 pounds..been in a bit of weird stall the last three weeks..I bounce up and down the same two pounds. But the clothes I bought a month ago are too big now so there is that. I am also changing my diet up to incorporate more calories as well as fruits and vegetables too.

What to look for in a personal trainer?

I went through about 5 interviews and a couple of workout sessions before I hired my trainer. For me it was also important for me to click with this person, both on a exercise level and a personal level. What I was looking for also was someone who would't just put me through the motions, say good job and send me on my way. I wanted someone who would challenge me, test me on movements, and who can also adapt workouts for my scalability. Take the time to find a good one. Find one who watches how you move and how you can improve. Make sure that you feel comfortable talking to them about almost everything. I have regular discussions about how to reduce my bat wings with my trainer. He also "teaches" me and regularly quizzes me on things like.."Why are your hands outside your knees on deadlifts" etc.. You won't regret finding the right trainer and I WISH I paid 50 to 70 bucks an hour. I pay 40 bucks for a half hour and he is worth every damn penny. I tell him regularly that he is my quit smoking money lol since I pay him out of the funds I have been saving since quitting smoking.

    Fat burning tricks...

Soooo am I the only one who thought the poster was kidding about the source? I thought it was like a play off of my post.. I do sometimes have gullible moments!!! Regardless..I agree with HK's post. I have been following the low carb, high Protein diet but when I took a step back and looked at the crap in that diet it is no wonder I am stalled out here. I am eating protein sure, but not the right kind of protein and I still have sugars sneak into my diet. I actually just ordered the 21 day primal transformation workbook by Mark Sisson..worth a try and I know my body and the times I have been the most successful has been on a balanced diet.

    Awwww Come On !

Yeah I second the comment about the drain. It wasn't that bothersome since I was so doped up being in the hospital. When they took it out, it wasn't an issue either. I do want to say though..I am not sure what you are expecting as to a level of pain and discomfort and your wanting as little as possible. This is major surgery..it is going to hurt and it is going to be uncomfortable. I had never had surgery before and I would rate my discomfort level on a scale of 1 to 10 the first two weeks as an 8. After that..it was fine. So not to rain on your parade I just am trying to give you a realistic picture.

deadlifts and finger tip blood flow

That happened to me last week when we added weights for the first time for my deadlifts (not to the extent that you had it but I noticed that my hands felt a bit weak after my set) so my trainer changed up my grip this week on deadlifts and it was the most awkward thing ever. I am used to gripping the bar with my thumbs on the outside of my fingers just lightly resting and this week he changed it so my thumb is wrapped around the bar first with my fingers on top of it. I didn't get that numb feeling either. But the interesting thing was I felt it much more in my core, even with the extra 10 pounds he added this week. So I don't know.

    i have no idea

So not to be the debbie downer..but you are about to undergo major surgery and with that comes a certain level of expectation of professionalism from those that you interact with for the surgery. My advice is demand information and instructions and whatever else you need to make sure you feel comfortable before you do the surgery. I understand that this may delay your surgery..but wouldn't you rather be informed and aware of everything you need to be responsible for?
