Hi, I'm new here and would like to know if this surgery is also good for an old fart like me. I'm menopausal, been fat my whole life (currently 255 and 5 ft short) and my MD asked me if I had considered lap banding. I was shocked that she mentioned it. I have no co morbidities yet, all my values are normal so far, but I am so tired of carrying around this weight. I have two active grandkids and I get exhausted after a few hours with them. Sometimes I chalk that up to age but I also know it has to be my weight.:faint:
I am embarrassed that I walk so slowly, when walking with a group of people I'm always last. I have a lot of anxiety about all things surgical so I'm doing my homework.
Thanks in advance!

Yikes, I don't know where to start!
I am just in the thinking stage of having this surgery.
I am 53 years old and so far I have no co morbidities, but I am barely 5ft tall and 255 lbs. My gp actually mentioned to me if I had considered lap banding, she doesn't like the idea of the big gastric bypass.
so now I'm thinking about it but I'm scared to death. I have no medical problems, no diabetes, my bp is good so are my lipid profiles but it's getting so uncomfortable to be me. I have two grandkids to run after, a full time job and a big house and garden and I can't keep up anymore with all of it.
I really just want my energy back.
ANyone else in the same or similar boat?
How about heartburn, I seem to suffer that quite a lot.
Thanks.
time off work?

I'm not even scheduled yet, I'm really just in the "thinking about it" stage.
I'm 53 and wondering how I will bounce back, will I really like to eat nothing but mush. I also have a lot of anxieties about screwing up what it essentially good health so far.
I don't even know if it would be covered, in which case I couldn't do it.
Thanks for your reply.
