  1. Thank you so much for the inspiration. I'm just about a couple of months in and I'm still amazed at how little I can eat. I have finally learned the "you better stop now" point I read the forums a lot and I'm always on the hunt for positive information and progress updates from the veterans who take the time to come back and encourage everyone. Congratulations on your success!

Daily calorie intake at 16 days post op?

I was also sleeved on 12/26. I manage to get in around 350 - 400 calories day. I also hit a stall at 3 weeks but since then I'm losing at a slow but steady pace. I'm down 31 pounds since surgery and two full sizes. We should all keep in touch!

    I hate to eat!

It took me awhile to figure out what "full" meant. At first I could barely handle 1/2 an egg without feeling stuffed. I've learned to eat really small portions - every 3 - 4 hours. The full feeling is uncomfortable and I don't care for feeling that way. I also agree that eating is sometimes a hassle but that's not good for me. It's a lifestyle change for me and I'm still getting used to it. Think positive and go for it!

    Pre OP Diet

I tried lots of options but the one I really like is the GNC shakes. Chocolate is my favorite. You are lucky that you get to eat salad and small meals! I was on total liquid for two weeks. Good luck to you.

Support needed, 5 days post op!

The first week is the worst and everything is downhill from there. Everyone will say you have "head hunger" but I truly felt hungry the first couple of weeks. I just drank Water and took a prilosec and the feeling went away. I'm now seven weeks out and don't experience hunger at all. The real challenge is finding what will work for me to eat. I know when I push it and that's the whole point of having a sleeve. Look at it like this - before surgery I could eat a full serving of Pasta and meat, 2 pieces of garlic bread, salad and let's not forget dessert! My sleeve will only hold about a 1/2 cup at a time. Let's say you stretch it to double (which I doubt will happen) - you'll still only be able to get in 1 cup a food and that's way less than before. Have confidence I have been taking Centrum chewable mixed fruit Vitamins. They aren't sour or sweet and I don't mind them at all. Everyone is a bit different though. Good luck to you - the first step was having the surgery and the next step is learning to live with it. I have no regrets at all.
  12. What a great story. Thanks for the inspiration

    First day of pre-op diet

I will echo what others are saying. Once you get past day 4 it gets easier. I lived on sf popsicles. I finally found a protein shake I could live with. I got the GNC nutician shakes at my grocery store. The chocolate ones are the best (in my opinion). I kept telling myself that I didn't want to get to the day of surgery and have my doctor say he couldn't do it because I wasn't complying with the rules. That would have been embarrassing! I lost 9 pounds pre surgery and I am now 39 pounds down. This surgery will save your life. The important thing to remember is that it's all up to you. "nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels" Good luck to you. These forums really help.
  16. I still can't eat chicken (6 weeks out). My staples are fish and eggs but on any given day they don't sit well. I find it odd that what I can eat one day I can't eat the next.

Day 4 not enough to keep alive

I'll echo the rest of the comments. The first week is the toughest - it's all downhill after that. I also did much better with warm liquids. Good luck and hang in there!

    MY ONE MONTH PEEPS

Sleeved 12/26. Down 35 I've been in a stall for a couple of weeks Not worried. Continuing with my workouts - my body will catch up soon. I work out three days a week with a trainer doing a variety of things. I do 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week. I take Sunday off.
  22. Decembersleever

    Sweet

I completely understand. I'm 5 weeks out and was craving sweet and chocolate. I bought some weight watcher fudge bars and was able to get 1/2 of a snack size one down. SLOWLY Problem solved. It may not work for everyone but it worked for me
  23. Decembersleever

    When will it go away?

I agree with the others. The first week was rough. I kept a bottle of water with me wherever I went. Sip sip sip. Each day will get better.
