    So noxious! ugh

What are you mainly drinking? You should not have anything with gas in it.

    Paying Out of Pocket

I'm just wondering why you aren't having the surgery in Canada Frank? Don't you have a good Medicare system, similar to Australia? All up, using one of the top surgeons in this field, I am out of pocket $3,000.

Hi Sara, I am in Melbourne too, in the outer east. Where are you?

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Thanks for this advice Kelliv. I am not seeing my dietician until the end of January. My surgeon is really good but very casual. His advice was, "if you are hungry eat, if you are thirsty drink". That's pretty much what I do, but I am more successful at eating than drinking. I will just persevere, everything I read on here says it gets easier. Thanks again!

Thanks for this reply Suoco. My surgery was on Nov. 14 so I am fairly new to this. I'm pleased with my weight loss but at the moment I feel like just sticking to the protein shakes because eating food is just too much effort and trouble.

    Difficulty with water?

Try adding some apple juice or diet cordial to the water. This has worked for me.
  8. My surgeon put me on 3 protein shakes a day plus 1 cup of vegetables a day as my pre-op. diet. I had to be on this for 2 weeks prior to surgery.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Just curious.....How do you know when you are full? I was sleeved on Nov. 14 and I just find eating really uncomfortable. I don't eat large quantities, probably about 1/2 cup at a time but I really never get a feeling of being full. The food either stays down or comes back up.
  10. I was sleeved on Nov. 14 and my SW was 235. Today I am 199. Yay!!! First time under 200 for about 10 years.

    Anyone had this problem?

Thanks for this advice. I will go to my doctor ASAP.
  12. I have been trying a few different foods over the last week to see what I can tolerate and I have found out that there's not much I can keep down at the moment. I have been vomitting a lot and have noticed spots of blood. I know I should talk to my doctor but he is away overseas for the next three weeks so I was hoping someone could put my mind at ease. My surgery was on Nov. 14.

    Able to eat an egg?

I really struggled with water at first but I found that if I added some diet cordial or a bit of apple juice it was much easier to digest.

    Wanting to leave my SO?

You said you felt very comfortable at home when you stayed for 2 weeks while you recovered so your Stepmother can't be too bad. Why don't you go and talk to her personally and tell her about the problems in your relationship. Tell her how much you would appreciate her support to get out of this relationship and become independent. Mostly though, do not think that by leaving you could be doing the wrong thing. Leaving a partner hurts, even leaving an abusive partner but when the hurt subsides you will know that you made the right decision. You have already taken a huge step to change your life and become happier with you, don't let anything stand in your way or hold you back!!

    4 weeks post, ravenous

I am also 5 weeks out and I went through a couple of days of desperate hunger but then I realized I wasn't having enough fluids. Once I started having food I was forgetting to drink. Maybe you need to check your Fluid intake. 1500 calories is a lot and I also struggle to eat more than 600.
  16. Every morning when I take my multiple-vitamin I gag and throw up. I didn't have this problem with taking meds before I got my sleeve.
  17. Today was my first day of eating normal food. I was so excited that I would finally get to chew. Chose something fairly soft to start with (vegetable frittata). After about 3 bites I felt terrible. I then started drooling which continued for about 20 minutes then vomitted. Tried a little bit of pasta for dinner, with the same reaction. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just that I'm not ready for this? Maybe I need to stick with shakes and soup for a bit longer. Any advice would be appreciated.....
  18. My pre-op diet was for 2 weeks and consisted of 3 protein shakes per day plus one cup of vegetables with dinner. I kind of liked it because it prepared me for life after surgery.

Hi, I'm from Melbourne. I had my surgery 15 days ago and have lost 10.5 kilos. Today was my first day on puree and I struggled with it a little, otherwise I am feeling great and am so pleased I finally took this step. Good luck on your journey, stay positive.

    What To Expect?

I took one 40mg Nexium this morning and today has been so good. Not one bit of heartburn all day. Maybe you could ask your doctor about this. Good luck!!
  21. Hi, I am so happy I found this forum as there in nothing like it in Australia. I had my surgery 12 days ago and since then I have lost 22 pounds. I need to lose 70 pounds total. I was hoping for some feedback on what to expect. Does the weight loss slow dramatically at a certain point or is it different for everyone. I have recovered well and was going for walks on my 3rd day after the op. but I seem to be getting heartburn a lot.

    What To Expect?

Managed to get a prescription today and already I feel so much better. The heartburn was really starting to get me down. Thanks so much for your advice.
