  1. I had surgery 18 months ago and am at my goal. Everything has been going fine but I started having a lot of trouble eating, vomitting, really bad gastric reflux and lost more weight.

My surgeon gave me a gastroscopy and said my sleeve had moved up and I need more surgery. So confused right now and not looking forward to more surgery.

    Help!!!

  2. I stuck with the diet all except for one night when I had and said goodbye to all those yummy things I loved! I know lots of people frown down upon doing this but it was kinda my Hens Night for food. It was a goodbye to food freedom and gave me closure on my bad eating habits, 18 months later I have lost over 100 lbs. and am well past my doctors goal.

  3. What do you do, or has anyone ever regretted getting this sleeve? I am 8 days post op and I feel myself slipping into a depression wishing I wouldn't have ever started this journey. I really hate feeling this way and my husband feels bad that I'm so upset all of the time. Help please any advice or encouragement is more than welcome !!!

You are at the worst stage Antonia. It's all uphill from here. Keep on sipping the Water and get out and do some walking. The weight will start to fall off and you will feel much more positive.

  4. Hi all just reading the post, looking into sleeve after years of battling my weight... I was advised after seeing a specialist dietician that the time has come to look at other options and vgs would suit me best given age and weight... She has supplied a referral and I have started on the vled for now.... I am not in a health fund ( never get sick ) so will be interested to see the costs Cheers Mick

Hi Mick, I am 18 months out from surgery and have surpassed my surgeons goal. Have lost over 40kgs. And now have a normal BMI and my cholesterol and blood sugar are under control.

The early days were a little tough but now I can eat anything I want, but limited quantities.

My surgeon was Patrick Moore at Epworth Private and I would highly recommend him.

I was out of pocket about $3,500 but I do have private health ins. Though bariatric surgery isn't covered. Good luck. Any more questions don't hesitate to contact me.

  5. I would definitely go with Surgeon #2. When you are getting major surgery like this you want a surgeon who is experienced and confident with this procedure. Surgeon 1 might be charming but I would not let anyone perform surgery on me if they didn't believe in what they were doing. I'm thinking that he also doesn't have a lot of experience in this surgery also.

  6. I started in April at 415lbs. I had mysurgery in June at 372, I am now under 235lbs and that was about 3 weeks ago. I dont like to weigh myself every week anymore and truly at this point its all about doing the right thing for me. Ill probably lose about 20 more but thats it,. I was a 52 inch waist and now a 34.. i was a 4x shirt now a large, Though it cose me a lot in clothes Who cares! Love to shop.. I eat under 1000 calories per day. I work out 6 days per week, Im loving life now. No more medications and no more Apnea! Doctor was amazed at how fast it came off. Everyone is different but i was super motivated and never strayed,, Thank you Dr Jiser at Lowell general Hospital Christian

    How about some photos?

  7. I've lost so much, pony tails are just not viable. I look bald to the temples... It sucks... and no lotions or potions are helping. Before anyone else messages me with the 'are you taking' question? Yes, I'm taking the works. It HASN'T worked. On that basis, no more suggestions please. I know you mean well - but I'm an intelligent (sometimes) girl and I have done significant research of which, NOTHING has worked. It is, what it is. My hair is still falling. It is genetics and my physical reaction to the surgery. There ain't nothing that can be done about it. Any questions in this regard are getting on my mammories. I really don't need any 'helpful' reminders that the hair, 'potentially', could not have fallen so much if I'd been taking x, y, z...shoving my head up a camels backside, or given **** to a horse! Know what I'm saying? I have tried it all. I'm bright enough to know that each individual has a different fall rate. No one knows until they spin the barrel for themselves. Come talk to me when you're bald and you've been doing xyz in endless quantities and its still not worked. 50, 60, 70, 150 grm of Protein? It's all balderdash! You fall at the rate that the surgery impacts upon you. Everything you ingest/apply just helps with the re-growth. I'm losing hair like nothing anyone has seen and frankly; I'm tired of it. I'm trying my best to minimise it. Its not working. I'm doing my best to disguise it in the meantime. Best I can do. Now.. Please, a little less of the shoulda, woulda, coulda? I have, I did, and it DIDN'T work! I'm still going bald with another (at least) 3 months to go. 'Nuff said? ;) <sanitised appropriately> :P

Have you tried eating? I am 16 months out and have lost about 90 lbs. Whenever I thought I was losing hair I would eat. Not enough to put on weight but enough to stabilise for a week or two. It worked great. I never lost a significant amount of hair that I noticed.

  8. I am in the same boat!!! I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding set for November 23. I was sleeved June 19th. I'm down 31 lbs. and dress sizes from a 20 to a 16 now. I have to order 12 weeks in advance. I have no clue what to order!!! I am thinking a 12 to be safe. That's 4 months. Maybe a 14. I going to go try on dresses July 27 and find a size that's tight and order the next size down. So stressful! I don't want to mess up her wedding or stress her out. My moms a seamstress so that helps!!

I was in this situation with my daughters wedding. I ordered one size down at the latest I could place my order. My thinking was that if the dress was too tight I could wear some Shapewear and if it was too loose I could have it taken in a little. One size up or down is no big deal.

  9. Hi Ladies,

As an Aussie I realized today that I owe all of you a huge apology. You see, here we were just getting on with our lives, loving our men and all the things they did for us like... Opening the car door for us or the door into the restaurant and pulling out our chair and telling us how lovely we were, and never commenting on our weight because that would be impolite and giving us compliments and and and.........

Then along came Germaine Greer. Suddenly we had to feel weak and insulted if men did these things for us. We had to burn our bras, shave our heads and turn our men into women. Though secretly we loved this man who wanted to do those things for us, we could not admit it because if we did we were letting women down.

I want the men of the past back. Those who don't judge us by how much we weigh and who love us because of who we are. I want the door opened for me and the chair pulled out.

I want a world where weight does not enter into how beautiful we are. I may be a dreamer who does not see this in my lifetime, but I want this for my children and grandchildren.

  10. I must take issue with one of your statements about his main attraction is not her body!

I'm sure he likes her mind but if he likes her why wouldn't he like the whole package???

On that note be honest makeyourluck about your changing self and don't rush into anything when the time is right those worries you have will be the last thing on your mind :)

I think it is somewhat hypocritical of us to expect someone else to like 'the whole package' when everyone on this site are here because they didn't like the package they were offering. How can we sit back and say "I hate my body, but if you love me you have to love my body". Seems a bit much to expect.
