  1. I'm still on full liquids until Monday when I start the puree stage. I have my Soup, pudding and Jello too. My stomach seems to not like the Protein shakes..and I'm thinking the creamy Soups are a problem. Thank God I'm not vomiting, but I am "dumping". I'm not sure what to do about the Protein Drink issue...not sure how else to get the Proteins in?

It's good to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel...

The Protein powders can be a little harder on the stomach for some people. unjury makes an unflavored protein that you can put in your soups You can try some isopures protein cut with Powerade zero. Also New whey makes a protein shot that is 40 gs of protein in a tube. Syntax makes some flavors other than chocolate and vanilla and others on here really like them, although I am not a big fan. You can also try the RTD Proteins like Premier or EAS.

  2. I've tried the Quest bars, and they are just okay, better if you microwave them for a few seconds first. I'm working through some Pure Protein bars right now. They are pretty good and I really prefer them over the quest. I only eat bars occasionally if I am on the run and don't have time to get a meal. Maybe once or twice a week.

  3. I gave up soda simply because it isn't a healthy option. I was a huge diet coke and diet dr pepper drinker, but decided that once I was sleeved, I would make every effort to be as healthy as possible. Don't need it in my world, don't miss it and feel that by ditching it, I am more healthy than if I kept drinking (even if I had a just a sip every so often, like so many on here do). Many on here feel that they are depriving themselves if they give up soda. I'm personally just the opposite, I'm depriving myself of good health by drinking it. So I ditched it. Your mileage may vary though....

  4. I have a pro-form. Some people think that they are crappy because they aren't terribly expensive, but I've had this one for about 15 years and never had a problem with it. Just recently I needed a new belt for it because I have worn this one out, and the service guy told me a I could buy a new one for what it costs to fix it. I told him to fix it anyway, because I liked it. :)

  5. So i went to the gym yesterday for the first time. I started by stretching for about 5 minutes, mostly my legs, arms, and back. I then went to the treadmill to limber up. I was able to do 22 minutes...I did the first 18 comfortably and then lightly jogged for about a 1/5 minutes (maybe less). The rest of the timie was a cool down walk. It was a challenge, but it got my adrenaline going. I also got on the elliptical and did 5 minutes on the lowest setting. I burned a little over 130 cals on the treadmill (see pic below), not sure what I burned on the elliptical but I am so happy I was able to even do that little bit. Today, I'm at work with no soreness whatsoever and feeling pumped to go back tomorrow. But I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback (definitely gotta get my hands on those hand weights @aries!!). Not sure when I'll start to include strength training like weights to tone my arms (I know that's when the soreness will really start) so any suggestions there are welcomed!!! Thanks guys!!

Awesome Job!!!! Really great work, just keep at it and add a little more as you go! :)

  6. Well...I think most of us that had the surgery were some time of compulsive over eaters or suffered from some type of eating disorder.. Unfortunately the surgery does not address this. The surgery reduces your capacity to take in food and with the removal of the portion of the stomach that produces the grehlin hormone, your hunger, for a while will be reduced. However, it does nothing to keep you from compulsively eating. You can very easily eat around the sleeve by consuming high calorie, high fat and high processed carbohydrate foods. Many of these types of foods are not restricted by the sleeve at all and are know as "slider" foods. If you feel that you have a compulsive eating problem, I would suggest that you talk to someone that is an expert in treating these types of disorders. Do not rely on the sleeve alone to help you through that. Talk to your Dr. and/or your nutritionist and feel that out about your fears. I am sure that they can recommend someone that can assist you with reconciling your relationship with food and over eating. Good luck!!

  7. I've always had better success at losing weight when I track. I also track my exercising and weight lifting. Also there seems to be a different vibe on MFP than on VST. Almost all the friends that I have on MFP are WLS people and they all seem genuinely more supportive and less cliquey than what I often see here.

  8. I wonder of we should all stop at a mom and pop bakery this week to show our support?

    :D

Mom and Pops are having a hell of a time right now. The have little to no backing except what they make at the register. I didn't draw a paycheck for over 3 years and bought my own insurance. I made my payroll every week and made sure my employees got taken care of. I watched as fast food chains and big box retailers slowly ate away at my business until it swirled down the drain...it wasn't a pretty sight....

  9. No the big box stores are just starting to take over. One stop shopping, a case of toilet paper and a case of baked goods all conveniently located...

Yeah that's true..It's tough to see the small operators get hammered like this though..A year ago I was right there with them, it hurts a b***h...Then I hear people all the time complain that there are no small bakeries around..WELL...go support the ones that do exist and stay out of the big guy's stores.....

  10. After I finished my C25k run today at the gym I was looking for something else to do as a cool down. I walked by the dumb bell rack, and saw a 60lb dumb bell. I wrestled that beast off the bottom of the rack and went over to the scale. I stepped up and with it I weighed 257. The owner of the gym whose also a good friend walked by and saw what I was doing, he asked me if that was what I weighed before. No, I weighed 3 lbs more than this. Gotta a high five for it....felt good! Damn that thing was heavy too...

  11. It is going to depend on how active you are. Some of those are actually "good" carbs that get burnt off as fuel and not stored as fat. I might go to one fruit as opposed to two, but from a health perspective there's nothing wrong with what you are doing. Pre-op diets are basically meant to get as much fat off as possible in the shortest amount of time. Later on when you get cleared to have fruits, it should be fine.

  12. LOL I do feel MUCH better having gotten that off my chest..

Now if only my boobies would deflate as quickly :P

hmmmmmmmm not sure I can sign on to that one....deflated boobies....nope, definitely like the fully inflated type.... :D

  13. It isn't that hard to relearn how to eat without drinking. After a while you won't even notice it. I was a big drinker with meals and now it isn't a big deal. Depending on what I am eating, I may take a sip every now and again, but mostly I follow the rules. If you don't you will feel really crappy.
