  1. I have my 6 month check up in another week and I'm sure they will adjust my Vitamins based on my bloodwork. I currently take

    Breakfast: 600 mg calcium citrate, 5000 Vitamin D, 1000mg B-12, B-complex, and 5000mg Biotin,

Lunch: two flintstone chewables with Iron

    Dinner: 600mg Calcium, biotin

My nut thinks I get enough other calcium from diet. I eat 1000 to 1100 calories per day. I eat 70 to 90 grams of Protein. Less than 45 grams of fat. I don't really worry about carbs because I still don't have room for bread or Pasta.< /p>

    Welcome back.

I see the VSG site on an app (vs. the computer), so I was wondering what your starting weight was? I think in spite of your crazy college/graduation/job seeking lifestyle, you must be still doing a great job.

I still take all the vitamins, but I have a hard time getting in all the calcium citrate because my NUT told me to take it three times a day but not near "iron," so I usually get 4 in and sometimes the last two but not always. Most of my vitamins are from the company TwinLabs and the brand is called "Bariatric Support." I have my 6 month check up a few weeks early tomorrow and I will find out the results of my bloodwork then. I have a friend who had surgery a year before me and she was told to back off certain vitamins after the 6 month visit because she was getting enough nutrition from her food sources. So, we shall see.

I am 5' 3 1/2" and was 242 last July. I lost 20 lbs by December when I had surgery, so I was 222 on day of surgery. I think I am about 162 now. (I weigh the most on my surgeon's scale, so again, we will see tomorrow.) My goal is 130 based on a body composition test that I had done with a "sports" doctor. Usually someone as short as me should weigh between 115-125, but the body comp test doesn't lie and the doctor said 130 would be "ideal." I haven't been that size since middle school, so hopefully I will get there. I don't lose as quickly as some. YOu gve yourself 10 lb goals each month, but I was looking at my fitbit stats for the past 3 months (since the last doctor's visit) and I haven't lost 10 lbs/month before now, so I imagine it will get harder (for me). I think I exercise a lot. (good) I am not a slave to an all protein diet. (bad? debatable?)

Hi, and welcom back! You are well on your way, and you will get there. This is what life is made of - stress and thing that happen that can derail us, but you recongnized it and you are back! That's what determines success, so good for you.

As for vitamins, you might need to check with your doc, since Vitamin regimes are specific to your blood levels. But just to give you an idea, I'm taking a pre-natal with iron, 5000mcg biotin, VitD3 4000 mg, Calcium citrate 1500 mg, and Iron 325 2 times daily. I have to admit that I hate taking all this stuff - it's a full time job to make sure you get it all in correctly. I was taking a big ole prescription pre-natal, but yesterday I bought the vita fusion gummys, since I have a hard time swallowing that big prenatial. I also order the Celebrate chewable Multivitamin. I use Calcet creamy chews 500 mg calcium, or the Celebrate soft chews, or Citrical petites. Problem with the those is that you need to take 7.5 pills a day to get in 1500 mg.

So, like you, I have to be mindful of when I take all this stuff. coffee interferes with absorption, and calcium and iron both have to be taken in deivided doses and can't be taken together. So, I get up in the morning and have coffee, but can't take any vitamins for two hours. Then I start taking the calcium in one form or another. I space them out about 2 hours apart, and try to have them finished by the time I leave work. Then, in the evening I start working on the iron pills. Then I take the prenatal at bedtime. I also take all the other stuff in between there, so I feel like I'm taking pills all day long - because I am!!

As for the diet, I'm eating around 900-1100 calories a day for the most part. I sometimes go higher, rarely go lower, and I am sort of a slave to the protein. It doesn't bother me, so it's easy to do. I exercise 3-5 days a week, depending on what's going on and how I feel.

I feel like I've settled into a pretty livable routine that I can continue to manage indefinitely. Again, welcome back and good luck.

Thank You so much for the great response

  4. Thanks Jalese, I just think it help know where your starting from post op or from the you actuaL. Surgery day thanls for being so upfront appreciate it so much. How long have you heard can the stalls take?

Sorry for the spelling should have check my post before I posted!!

after reading a lot of forums I have came to the conclusions that a stall can last from 3-4 weeks :( :(

  5. Can I ask you all a question are you including your post -op weight loss or the weight loss from your actual surgery date? Some of these losses just seem extreme....if they are from your actual surgery date . If they are from you surgery date share your secrets with the rest of the december sleevers. Feel like we must be doing something wrong.

THANK YOU!!! I was thinking the same thing... I must be doing something wrong!!

I Apologize I dont mean to make anyone feel like they are doing something wrong. I always use my pre-op weight as a start.

-To make me feel better (Seeing a Larger Number of weight loss)

-To include all the work I did before surgery

I think its great to do it that way!!!!

But I do apologize for making you feel that way :)

  6. Trutein... Cinnabun and vanilla especially. The vanilla tastes like Breyers vanilla bean ice cream. They also make chocolate dipped strawberry and chocolate covered banana. very real tasting. I hate most Proteins too. Xtreme Formulations UP 2.0 is higher calorie like a Meal Replacement powder but most say it tastes even better (and is easier to get). IForce vanilla cupcake batter is also pretty good but slightly higher carb. If you want a low carb whey isolate, I like Allmax Isoflex (chocolate Peanut Butter cup).

The nectar stuff you have been trying is sickly sweet to me. :P

ok great thank you so much!!

  7. Yes! i no longer enjoy eating anymore cause i get full too quick but hey that's what we signed up for right?

Yeah I have the same "issue". I couldn't find a better word instead of issue, because to me this is GREAT! I take a break for ten minutes and try again. I never go over or even near 1/2 cup of food.

Yea your right this is what i signed up for thanks for reminding me!!

yea your right it is great!!!

    Thanks for the help!!

  8. I just typed a huge response and my 2-year old rolled onto the laptop in his sleep and deleted it. So this is going to be a summary. Right now I am supposed to get 70 grams Protein but no more than 600 calories. Types of protein....

Premier Nutrition Ready-Made Protein shakes (Costco) - 30 Grams Protein, 160 calories

eggs (1 would be a meal) 7 grams protein, 80 cals

    Reduced-Fat Peanut Butter (2 tbsp's) 9 grams protein, 160 cals

Kirkland (Costco) Frozen Turkey Patties - 35 grams protein, 200 cals

Foster Farms Turkey Homestyle Meatballs (costco) - 20 grams protein, 160 cals

chicken Breast - Can't remember calorie count

    Greek Yogurt

    Steak

    Ground Turkey

    Shrimp

Other Fish - Swordfish, Tilapia, tuna (though watch the mercury content)

    Stuff like that.

I returned all my Jello, and cream soup!! I havent stepped up to mashed potatos so Im just gonna leave that alone.

I have my final spring break from college coming up and I want to to look great lol

  9. Thanks so much, everyone. The highest weight I've ever been was 336 - Right before delivering my youngest child who is now almost 2 years old. When I decided to get surgery I was 288. 262 on Surgery date.

Tips... Follow Dr's orders exactly, stay focused. I've cheated twice in three months and they were small cheats. I kicked myself in the butt for a minute and then got right back on plan.

Tons of Water - 80-100 ounces per day. Tons of Protein. No cream Soups, no mashed potatoes, no Jello - Protein, PROTEIN!

I really didn't exercise much (except chasing around a 1 year old and a 2 year old all day) but just joined a rigorous workout program last week (Crossfit) and I'm seeing great results already from that.

That's it, I guess. Just stay focused, keep your eye on the ball and Good luck to those who haven't been sleeved yet - This is going to change your life if you work it!!

OH MY GOSH i am going to follow your advice to the T. you look amazing congratulations!!!!!

  10. I feel terrible. I've been on the mandatory 2 week pre-op liquid diet and I just binged.... Cookies, chips... Ugh. My surgery is in 5 days and I'm scared I'm gonna be denied surgery....I've lost 10 lbs already ad I just had a moment of weakness..... Has anyone else lost control during their pre-op? I need prayers!!!

Hi I just got sleeved on 12/10/12 and I def cheated on my 2 week diet twice on the secound day i went to outback and had a drink shared an apeatizer and had my own meal granted they were off the $4 dollar menu so they werent HUGE! but none the less, Then three days in i ate pudding on accident (didnt know it was clear gellotin not pudding) so when i had my meeting with my surgeron a week before surgery I confessed (spilled the beans)

I told him everything I did and that I took a whole bottle of citrus of magnesium on the 4th day of my diet and drank 1 Liter of Water or more to help clean my system of those BAD BAD FOODS. He told me I was ok and I would have no problem getting my surgery, AS LONG AS I DID NOT CHEAT ANYMORE!! and I didnt.

    Everything still went as planned.

So what i suggest to you is :

1.STOP CHEATING (LOL) I know you really really want this surgery since you have gotten this far! just keep thinking and planning your future and remind yourself of that and what you want every single time you think of cheating during these two weeks.

2.CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM: now I'm not sure if you can do this I would tread lightly I was in a panic and refused to not be able to get my surgery so I did that without consulting my surgeon or the nurses in his office.

3.TELL YOUR SURGEN AND YOUR DIETITCAN: asap because you will know what you are looking at you dont want to have cheated go in like you never cheated and then be told that you cant get your surgery after they have put you under anethsia and brought you to the OR be straight forward and ask how can you fix the situation.

    GOOD LUCK!

I DOUBT IT WILL GET IN THE WAY OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING, BUT TO BE SURE ASK!!! I WOULD HATE TO HAVE BEEN TURNED AWAY IN THE OPERATING ROOM AFTER GETTING SO EXCITED!!

  11. I was sleeved yesterday (12/10/12) also the gas pain the night of was horrible. Today it went away I walked and was able to alleviate a lot of gas and I was not in pain anymore so I begged to be discharged and I was!!. I am now home, I also just removed my onQ pump(ball) im not sure if you all had that but its a pain medicine ball my surgen uses to help numb my stomach musles that were cut, I personally cant stand anything hanging off of me or any numbing feeling so i took it out a few hours after i got home.

Now I'm just trying to get liquids down Water is so hard to drink and my stomach is so small i get full so quickly :) I am so happy and excited about my new life! I cannot believe I did it.

The only time I had buyers remorse was the day of because my gas pains were between a 7-9/10 the whole time after surgery.

  12. Oh my goodness I cannot believe I am about to start my Pre-op liquid diet.< /p>

My surgical group provided me everything i could use during my 2week Pre-op liquid diet, all of my items came from the company Optifast.< /p>

Has anyone used these products how do they? Any advice on how to get through these two weeks?

I have gone through the "last meal syndrome" ... I ate everything I knew was my down fall, now that all of that is out of my system I dont think I will have a hard time.

But I'm worried what if its nasty Oh GOSH I dont know what I would do lol :).

Have You used the OPTIFAST shakes, Soups, or bars?

What products did you use during your Pre-op Liquid diet?

How did you make it through your Pre-op Liquid diet?

When does your Pre-op Liquid diet start?

    Thank You.
