  1. Soooooooo frustrated....I've checked out the "whatcha eating ..." forums...checked out sample menus, etc...most post are over 2 years old..but I can say that I'm eating like ya'll.

    My staple foods/grocery list includes:

    eggbeaters, turkey bacon

    deli meat, 2% cheese slices, weight watchers cheese strings

    ground turkey, turkey patties, chicken patties, chicken fajita meat, chicken breasts

    triskets crackers, beef Jerky

    crystal light, Water Enhancer drops, low sodium V8

    and of course Quest bars and Protien drink mixes (nectar and BA)..

    today so far...Protien shake for Breakfast (8oz)

    on my 4-5 glass of crystal light already

    eggbeaters scrambled eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon for lunch

    will probably get bored here in a bit, and snack on deli meat (roast beef), or string cheese, or Jerky

    some sort of chicken for dinner

    and a Quest bar for late dessert

    I'm up 6lbs today...was down 3 yesterday...I'ts been doing this since end of January...haven't lost any since the significant loss after surgery.

    I'm fairly picky eater, that's why you don't see veggies in the list, salads are boring, plus I get full with just eating protien.

    I'm doing Protein, Protein, protein, Water water water!!

    I go to Curves at least 3 x a week. I will go walk here in a sec, Curves is closed...Still not in shape to do major excersising...but I'm moving.

    I'm so frustrated and depressed, I want a margarita (which I've cold turkey achohol...maybe a glass of Moscato at night before bed, but I've had that same bottle of wine since January)...

    I've held in my bad, negative attitude about my non weight loss long enough...Because I don't like feeling this way. I'm a happy, no worries kind of person!! But this is a worry! Oh and the Dr. bill I just received!! But that's a whole nother post!! (I could buy a car for that bill, when insurance said I met "out of pocket expense"...liver biopsy as much as the surgery and not covered...What up??!!) So that stress, and no weight loss....not a good combination...

  2. *** New DFW Area Support Group Meeting ***

    I would like to form a very informal support group in the north suburb area of Dallas (Plano' date=' Frisco, Allen, etc.). I'm right at 6 weeks post-op and have been to one monthly support group meeting at Forest Park Medical Center and while I think there's a lot to gain from that, I don't feel that once a month is really all that "supportive". Also, I personally feel that the best support out there is each other. Whether you were sleeved years ago, just recently or just thinking about it, we're all out there and could truly benefit from one another in an informal setting.

    I'd like to kick this off, Saturday afternoon, February 23rd. I don't think there are any weekend support groups locally, and for some us, weeknights aren't always the easiest time to meet. As many of the other formal support groups seem to meet in the second week of the month, maybe the 4th Saturday (or more if we want to do this more often) would be a nice compliment.

    I've chosen to have the first meeting at Season's 52 in Plano. Season's 52 is a nice restaurant that specializes in a healthy fresh menu where every item on the menu is 475 calories or less. The portion sizes aren't overbearing like most restaurants and I've reserved a back corner of the restaurant where we can just sit and chat about our experiences, our concerns, our questions. If we like the location, we can keep going back or find somewhere else new and fresh that we can rotate around.

    Oh and the time is 12:30 PM.

    I would ask that you RSVP by Thursday, February 21st so that I can let the restaurant know how many of us there will be. I hope that many of you in the area consider joining us!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    RSVP by replying in this forum, messaging me on VST, or emailing me at kev.lev@tx.rr.com. Please let me know you're name, whether you're pre or post op and how far out are you. If you're just considering WLS, you are more than welcome too! And let me know how many there will be.
  3. I just saw my surgeon this afternoon (Wed. Feb. 6) and she told me that Blue Cross will pay for removal of panni after one year from surgery date and a 100 pounds loss. Also' date=' if you have sores and irritated skin it needs to be documented with pictures for more proof that you need this surgery.[/quote']
    Wow, this is great info to know. I didn't know what a panni was!
  4. Hi theamarie;
    First' date=' welcome to Dallas! Secondly, there is a support group that meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Forst Park Medical Center. I believe it starts at 7:00.
    Personally, i don't feel once a month is enough and am thinking of starting a support group in the North Dallas/Richardson/Plano area. I think that an informal gathering of sleeved patients as well as those thinking about it would be awesome. The other support groups are led by Nurse Practitioners, nutritionists, etc. and that information is great, but I think talking in a smaller group setting would be beneficial for many.[/quote']
    LetS set a lunch date and invite all .. Maybe next Saturday or 2 Saturdays from now!!
  5. I chose Curves... Have joined, to get in on the membership special... Haven't worked out yet...gawd it is so difficult mentally to get myself in there. I don't know why?.. Scratch that, I do, it is sooo very depressing! They are fixin' to deduct monthly payments and my husband is going to "expect" me to go. There's a difference between expect and support.., me... this is so hard, my weight hasn't moved in ages...soooo down right now. But I did get out and join... step one is accomplished!
  6. Are you drinking enough? When I'm dehydrated I get really bad headaches.. I really hope you find an answer. :)
    Ya know, that's a good point...I'm usually home all day and getting my fluids in, but today I got out and ran tons if errands for my 78 year old dad, then my 21 year old step daughter needed some things, etc...totally could be that.
  7. Sooooooooooooo....Although I'm asthmatic, have allergies and sinus issues frequently...I keep all that well under control with inhalers, and antihistamines. I have never ever (promise) been a headache person, honestly, and I know that seems unusual. But in the last week, I've probably noted 3-4 headaches, one being right now...all of them always being in the evening about this time. Can diet be a cause? and I'm so confused about NSAID's (?)...I don't have much to choose from in my med cabinet, cuz, well, I never need 'em....I have Aleve...and some left over liquid prescript. pain meds...which is what I used the last headache, so I could get to sleep...which I'm an earlier "go to bed person"...it's actually almost past my bed time...lol. Tylenol, right? over Aleve?
  8. Thank you everyone for all the input!! I greatly appreciate it. I am a beginner, have never worked out before, that why I was thinking Curves...but thought the Y, because then maybe, just maybe, my husband would go and support me, if we had a family memebership to the Y. But...I like the "ladies only" Curves idea also...sooooooooo, that is why I posed the question. I will check out both, and because of my hubby, price will matter...sooo, I will definitely get back with ya'll.
    Thank you again!
  9. Well I've convinced my husband that I need to join a gym or whatnot. I'm leaning toward Curves, all women, get in get out. Not sure exactly what they offer or cost. My 2nd choice is our Y. Any thoughts on either of theses! Would appreciate it much!
  10. I am told there is a support group meeting at Baylor Plano the 2nd wednesday of every month.
    I am also wondering the possibility of putting together our own area support group meeting. Is it necessary to have a nutrionist or a psychiatrist running these groups? Or could a group of sleeve patients just gather and sit around and talk about things and learn from one another?
    I think it would be great for us to just get together and chit chat!
  12. That would be great. This was my first meeting i went to. I think this meeting wasn't like their typical ones. We introduced ourselves but really didn't have much discussion because they took us to the pharmacy for samples tastings. I think the usual meetings would have more discussion between us and issues we might be having or advice. Just guessing of course since it was my first one.
    I agree...not that I didn't learn anything from the pharmacy side of things...but I had just a question or 2...but I go in for my 6 week follow-up tomorrow...I'll ask then...
