  1. Ya'll I was doing so good and then I broke my friggin' toe 2 weeks ago!! Ugh! I'm gonna try to get in there next week and just do machines, cuz I'm certainly not going to be able to do the springboards. What a bummer!

  2. Hi Everyone!! Thank you for all the info!! I've been really concentrating on doing everything right, I still mess up though...The scale finally started moving and kept moving steadily, officially 55lbs down, 6 months post op, still seems slow, but I'll take it. I do journal with MyFitnessPal, and was regularly going to Curves until I broke a toe 2 weeks ago, and then reinjured it a couple of days ago. My day consists of a Protein drink for breakfast....half a dry sandwich on jewish rye with usually roast beef or turkey (no mayo, no mustard, sometimes cheese), snack on babybell cheese, and a piece of fish, or shrimp, or a chicken patty, or small steak at night....that's about it...I added a glass of wine here and there and a margarita also, and it hasn't thrown me off. I have my 6 month follow up soon, and I really felt like I was going to go in there with 20lbs lost...thankfully that won't be the case. I've never measured, but Curves has, which I started about 3 months post op. So I am anxious to get back in there and have them measure me...

    Thanks again everyone!!

  3. reviewing MyFitnessPal:

    today:

when I awoke - Syntrax nectar 1 scoop Protein drink

    Breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs

after workout - Syntrax Nectar 1 scoop Protein Drink

lunch - Starkist chunk light tuna in Water 5oz

    snack - cutie orange

dinner - 4 oz homemade leafy lettuce with red cabbage, some pecans, radishes, yellow onion, 1TBLSP Kraft Light Ranch, drizzle lemon juice...

says total food calories 564....exercise today = 367...remaining calories 603

    sooooooooooo, what up?

Ok, now I'm going to bed...ugh!

  4. I just join Curves about 4 weeks ago, went here and there, but am now able to do the circuit 2 x as recommended, and I go 4 days a week for 30 minutes. MyFitnessPal adds 347 calories back into my 800 calorie goal. But I'm not actually sure what our calorie goal should be, but I'm managing well with 800 - 825...sometimes it doesn't appear I'm losing weight, but I just keep on trucking....

  5. I was the same way, didn't have any issues keeping anything down, or managing all the liquids...but once I started incorporating mostly food, and not mushies...I totally felt restriction when it was a bite to many, glad I had Gas X on hand. Now, I'm counting calories, and weighing an making sure to stop eating before full (restricted)...proteins, Proteins, Water water....

    Good Luck!

  6. I notice two things, you say that you are up and down compared to yesterday. I know you have probably heard it a thousand times but you should not do this to yourself. weigh once or twice a week. I weigh twice. One is an official weigh in, one is a progress checker and that is it.

By weighing yourself every day or way to often at least you are getting FAR too caught up in the details of day to day calories instead of the overall bigger picture. Stop doing that to yourself.

Also, I took a look at your profile to see your surgery date and it looks like you are close to three months out if I am not mistaken, and about 30 pounds down. 10 pounds a month isn't terrible, but I share in your pain that we all expect better than that after weight loss surgery. If you are really eating the things you listed and not wavering from that too too much, then my only explanation is that you are underestimating how much you are eating in terms of volume. Do you weigh out everything? I swear by my kitchen scale. I am not as strict about what types of things I have, because I weigh everything and its really hard to go wrong if you never eat more than 4 ounces at a time.

Most people underestimate the volume they eat by at least 50%, meaning, they think they are having 200 calories but they are really having 300. 100 extra calories is not THAT big of a deal, but when you do that multiple times a day most people are eating 400-600 calories more than they think they are.

Well I purchased a digital scale yesterday. Measured my Breakfast of scrambled eggs mixed with turkey sausage out..had a couple Protein shakes today...and weighed my garden salad out, of leafy greens, red cabbage, pecans, radishes, onions and Kraft lite Ranch. Weighing is confusing me, when it comes to MyFitnessPal...but I'm doing both. And I know I have to stay of the scale...but ya'll...i'm sooooooooo not near my lowest ever. As of Dr. visit yeasterday and at Curves today...the weight measured the same...I'm 12lbs up!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF????? Sorry, but can ya'll see my frustration? If it was 2-3lbs here and there, I understand....10-13lbs??? no way! It's like I'm starting over. I think I will just go back to liquids only like before and after surgery to kick start it. I lost 10 lbs liquid only pre-surgery, then 25ish liquid only 3 week post surgery...and it's climbed ever since! Ugh!

  7. I'm so glad to hear it Glendalee. Keep it up!

I am...I'm "keep on keeping on"!! I have to say, I've lived in my area for 7 years, and since I don't work, do not have many friends at all here. The local Curves owner and staff is so friendsly, non-judging once so ever! They remembered my name from day 1!! I needed this so much! It is still so hard to "get there", motivation wise...but I do!! Oh and my personal physcian works out there!! I see her on her lunch hour!! What a plus!! Working up to trying Zumba there! Curves has my support and vote, if anyone asks!

  8. Hi!! I started this post, and as you can see I joined Curves! And I love it! It took me about 3 visits before I made the circuit 2 x around, but am now going 4 days a week. I love that I can just get up, put my hair in a pony tail, wash my face, dress, and get there and back in under an hour! I love that there is no intimidation factor, which the larger fitness places, I would never feel comfortable in. I haven't had my key card programmed to the machines yet, but will ask today. I just picked up a pedometer and food scale from my Curves also!! And I love that Curves Circuit is on MyFitnessPal!! The price is right, I just love it!

This is coming from someone, who is quite dissappointed in my weight loss, and has all asthma that you can have, including exercise induced, but with a puff of Advair daily...exercise is not an issue!! And was a non-exerciser till last month!

Thank you for the info...oh...gotta go....to Curves now!! lol

  9. Sleeved11-27-12... just received bill... insurance covered Sleeve except our part of out of pocket. What's giving me a heart attack, is there is a biopsy charge also, assuming the liver. It was more than the sleeve, and DENIED!! My gawd, he was already in my stomach, why in the world would snipping a piece of liver cost more?? And why is it denied!! We cannot in any way afford this charge, it would be equivalent of a car payment for 4 years!! And yes, your lucky if anesthesia is covered. I need to see if Nutritionist is covered, because I truly need to visit one. I have a Lap-Band 3 years ago, insurance covered most, including taking care of hernia. Lab-Band removal, along liver biopsy, covered. My original surgeon referred me to my sleeve surgeon, and holy mackerel... I'm losing sleep at night, about this bill. Will start necessary phone calls to see what the issue is, tomorrow. Lord, I hope it's a mistake on someone's part, surgeon or ins., and I hope it doesn't turn into a war...

  10. Wow...ok...I've had my last Crystal light to drink...I've been drinking Water and alternating with water w/Dasanii or Mio flavor enhancer water drops (didn't see aspartane on the label), and hopefully ween to water only. Quest bar for lunches now...ugh sooooo much to know. I was just focused on Protein protein protein, liquids, liquids, liquids...I have now been exercising daily, counting calories....finally dropped 2lbs...almost back to my lowest weight since surgery. I bet most are not having to do that....ugh.

I need to search for sample menus, surely there are some on here...

    Thank you, everybody!

  11. Thank you...

TES, I had labs done exactly 1 month after surgery (Nov. 27), and was advised to return after a month due to my lipids, my thyroid level was normal. I failed to return, so have made an appointment for this Monday.

DeeDee, we had the same surgery date! I've downloaded the MyFitnessPal app. and am averaging 800-825 calories a day. I'm not sure exactly what our calorie intake is suppose to be, but I think this is about right?? Not sure if the 2500 goal for sodium is correct, but I'm under that daily. I do need to ween off of flavored Water, drinks, that is going to be tough, probably tougher than eliminating margaritas (which I have accomplished!)

I finally accomplished the Curves Circuit twice (recommended) this morning!!

As of today, I'm still 5lbs higher than my lowest weight, but I'm going to stay on track, and check next week.

    Thanks again, everyone!!.
