SerendipityHappens got a reaction from FibroDiva in Weight Loss and Clothing Size
WOMAN'S plus size clothing is sized differently than Missy clothing. I wear a size 18 or 20 bottom and 14/16 top in WOMAN's plus. But I'm WAY far away from wearing these same sizes in Misses sizing. When I can get down to a 14 pants in woman's PLUS size, that will be around the same size as an 18 in regular Misses size. I'm already able to wear size XL or XXL in missy clothes for tops.. which is a size 18.. which makes sense since I'm a 14/16 in plus size tops. Hope that helps.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from abbygirl in Owwww.....that hurts ....kinda.
Prior to getting sleeved my only experience with surgery was having my festering rotten gangrene gallbladder removed. Because of the gangrene the surgery was complicated. For gallbladder surgery I couldn't even walk until day three... I was in the hospital for several days and I want to say they didn't even give me food until day four.
When I woke up from VSG surgery I was like: "Seriously? This is all???" I got up and started walking right away and felt like I could have left the hospital on the first day. I didn't even feel pain... just.. "discomfort". Definitely NOT what I was expecting! I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did... Things just got better and better. My VSG surgery recovery was a cake walk. Glad yours is too!

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from kw2walker in Will I fit in the Airplane seat?
Unless you are an extreme pear, YES. you will FIT! I am only 5'5" and I flew at 290 and ALL of me fit in the seat with the armrests down. I got a window seat and leaned against the side and did not encroach at all on my seatmate's space. I did not need an extender either. I flew at previously 315 as well and only needed an extender once.
go to seatguru.com and find your airline and flight number and you can see how large the seats are. 18" seats are what I had on my flight with no issues.

It's so hard to even imagine having a "normalized" relationship with food.. if I'm not eating everything in sight, I'm counting calories obsessively.. (right now it's the latter) I hope eventually to get to the point where you are.. where I can just kind of make good choices and eat intuitively.... but for now, yeah, it's pretty much logging every bite that passes my lips.

What makes you think she's "on the couch"? Even at 360 pounds for ME exercise was NOT the problem.. the problem was in the kitchen! When someone would give me advice like "oh just walk around the neighborhood for half an hour" or my personal favorite "park in the furthest parking spot" I'd just look at them with a really confused look.... and say...."so you mean if I just park in the furthest parking spot, that will help me more than my 15 mile weekly hiking/walking schedule?"

I kind of hold being a "slow loser" as proof that this surgery was really necessary for me. I'm eating 850-1050 ultra low carb (less than 20 net carbs) calories a day, with an active job on my feet 7 days a week plus extra exercise and losing 1-2 pounds a week right now.
I am just over two months out and down 24 pounds from surgery day and 94 pounds from my highest weight. In the past I would have grown so frustrated and given up by now.. But now, I can be more patient because I'm not STARVING AND MISERABLE.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from Sherriews@yahoo.com in Carb Sensitive?
I haven't been told I was carb sensitive but I know I am. I have committed to doing a very low carb, high protein, high fat diet for the entire month of May after losing only 3 pounds in april. I'm doing 20 net carbs (carbs minus fiber) 70-90 grams of protein and the remainder of my calories from fat.
There are a lot of folks who say "a calorie is a calorie is a calorie" but I don't feel like it is the case in my body. Give it a try, see how you lose, see how you feel.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from judysbabies in I have to swallow what?
I was swallowing capsules in the hospital.. My doctor told me to wait two weeks to start taking the larger calcium citrate tablets, but I was cleared to swallow everything else on Day 2, including my small synthroid which is in tablet form, my acid reducer which was a capsule, capsule antibiotic and capsule multivitamin.
If your doctor allows you to take capsules, but your meds only come in tablets, you can buy empty capsules, crush your tablets and then fill the capsules with the powder from your crushed tablets. I know it's a PITA, but it beats having to taste it.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from joatsaint in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - What My Doc Told Me to Expect
My surgery only took 45 minutes.. (My doc has done 3,000 bariatric surgeries so she was FAST)
The one thing I had that I didn't expect was spasms in my stomach.. They weren't unbearable, but they were severe enough to stop me in my tracks until they passed.. Other than that and a couple of waves of nausea, it was sometimes hard to remember that I'd even had surgery. I stopped pain medication after day two because I needed a bit of discomfort to remind myself to take it easy!

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from Amberlydw8 in Protein! Where to get it...
Great tips.. I'm really loyal to Jay Robb protein powders. They taste good and they're very thin so if you mix with a fruity type drink, you don't even know that you're not drinking kool-aid!
As for your stall being protein related.. I've been in a stall for over two weeks and I ALWAYS get 70-80 grams of protein in AND I ALWAYS get in my fluids.. no exceptions. I'm consuming 700-900 calories a day which is still at a big deficit. Sometimes we just have to ride it out! You're right to look to your diet first and you definitely need to be getting your protein up, but this stall may have happened even if you were being perfect with your protein. Stalls are are a good time to assess our diets and make sure that we're following closely, but if you assess and see that you're doing what you're supposed to, then just sit back and relax and wait for it to break.
