Oh, some drink diet Pepsi/Coke flat, but not sure that would taste very good and we already know it's not good for us... diet or not.
-
I was a Diet Vanilla Pepsiholic in my prebanded days. Haven't had a drop of carbonated liquids since being banded and I really haven't missed it. In fact, I rarely have caffiene anymore either. I've never been a huge coffee drinker, but when I do have some it doesn't taste as good. So I usually drink herbal teas, water, little juice and some Crystal Light on occasion.

Hey Lisa, I'm on the same stuff you are, but a very low dose. I know they told me I'd be taking it for the rest of my life, but I'm hoping maybe someday....

Michelle, How much was your first fill? I know everybody is different. I got a 1.9 fill and I do feel restriction, but I thought it would be more restrictive. It hasn't been a week yet so I may feel it much stronger later? Thanks.

When I told a young friend (who is like a son to me), he made the comment about "the easy way". I explained to him that it took me a very long time, a lot of prayers and tears to get to the point to ask for this kind of help....the only kind that would really help me and people like me. My own sons who have seen the struggles I have been thru have been supportive from the very start. On a positive note, my mother cried with happiness when I announced I was getting the lapband!

Great NSV Ryan! But definitely get some pants that fit and show it off!

How do people get along without this?

Totally agree with you Jonathan and we love you too! -
Jonathan-what I said about mushies....don't be scared. Just do what your doctor says. Each doctor has their own guidelines. I was instructed by Dr. Ortiz's nutritionist after my 1 week of clear liquids and 2 weeks of full liquids (cream Soups, liquid yogurt and such) to start on regular foods cautiously. She just didn't want me getting used to mushies and felt that I might learn to eat around the band by doing so. Marla-actually I'm going to Portland to get my first fill this Saturday. I can't wait. I felt restriction for quite some time after surgery, but now I can eat way too much to lose and I want that scale to start going back down! Good luck to you!

Hi MissyMar-surpised being banded by Dr. Ortiz that you're doing mushies at all. I was told by the nutrionist (I even emailed her to confirm because everybody talked about mushies) that after 1 week clears and 2 weeks full liquids, they didn't want me doing mushies. Stuff is always changing.....anyway...like everybody said, this is healing stage and any pounds lost are a bonus!

WARNING GROSS PICTURES Lisa's Surgical Wounds
Infaith replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa, I know it's been tough girl...but it does look pretty good and I know it's going to heal up even better. My son had to have emergency surgery a couple of summers ago for his Crohn's disease (had 2 foot of intestine taken out) and they did a similar thing of letting it heal from the inside out without all the stitches. When we got home, I still had to do the dressing every night which is really hard to do on your own kid (he couldn't look at the 8 inch gap in his belly). But it healed up very nicely....and I know, just KNOW yours will too. Take care, okay? -

Didn't know where to put this but I need some help!

Actually, boiled eggs are a bit harder to digest. I started out with liquid eggs (you know, Egg Beaters and that kind of thing). They are easier going down at least for me. Even now, I can tell the different going down if I've eaten liquid eggs scrambled or a regular egg scrambled. -
Yes, I had the same problem. Liquid yogurt helped for me at least!
-
Congratulations! Yeah...my heating pad was my best friend for a couple of days there. Take care!

There you are Teresa!! Missed you!

Please send some snow my way!! I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and we rarely get any. I know it's a pain for those of you who deal with ith every year, but I love it!

I think you have a smart doctor! I can't imagine having my insides completely realtered with no control on what is happening to me. Some say they do the stapling because either their insurance will pay for it (and not the lapband) or because they lose faster, but that's only at first. In the long run, I think you're much better off with the band!

Best wishes to you Lauren! It's going to be great. Can't believe I had my surgery just over a month ago. Your feelings are all understandable. I had the same myself. They told me I went into surgery with a smile and woke up with a smile. Told them it was because I was starting a new life!! Speedy recovery to you! -

I'm so sorry you're sick Leatha! I've had the nasty bug for over 2 weeks. On antibiotics now, but it even affected my knees....feeling like I had an infection on top of the knee caps making it painful to move. You take care lady!
