Just a question.

I have a desk job & took 2 weeks. Had surgery 7/2, no complications, & will be going back 7/16. I do expect to be pretty tired that week though. -
Yes this test was MUCH better! I feel so much better that the staples are out. Can't wait to sleep on my sides & not worry about them tonight.
-
I also have the celebrate calcium chews but am not taking those yet.
-
I take Celebrate chewables: Multivitamin twice a day B12 once a day Iron + c once a day Vitamin d once a day Then I also take a pepcid twice a day per my Dr.
-
I also had Dr Kim & was on the 2nd. Yes! The first 24 hours were the worst, the rest has been a breeze for me thank goodness. I'm on the full liquids till the 22 & I'm going with the "if it goes through a strainer" I'm eating it. Do you add protein to your soups? I just made cream of mushroom with roasted garlic & added a scoop of unflavored unjury protein, helps bulk it up a little. I've been drinking tons of crystal light green tea & peach tea. I might be starting to slosh when I walk :/ On another note...we have to do another swallow test?? Ugh!

phases Newbie in Phase 2 needing help/opinions...please?!?
court2180 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kind of long post but I’m curious as to what ya’ll think so I am looking for opinions please. I was sleeved on 7/2 & home on 7/3. My Dr has 4 food phases: Phase 1 - Clear liquid first 4-7 days after surgery Phase 2 - Full liquid Protein weeks 2 & 3 (full/cloudy liquids) Phase 3 - pureed protein weeks 4 & 5 (blenderized/baby food) Phase 4 - Soft protein week 6 (easy to chew baby bites) On day 4 I moved to phase 2 and had fat free milk mixed with my protein and for dinner probably a ½ a can of bean with bacon Soup put through the blender and added a scoop up unflavored protein. Took me 2 separate sittings to eat most of it but I did. Today day 5 I had my Protein Drink with FF milk and for dinner had ¼ C light ragu pizza sauce mixed with ¼ C low-fat ricotta cheese and ate most of it, maybe 10 bites left. With all of the “new” foods/flavors/textures being added back in I’ve been doing very well, not getting sick no issues. Here’s my question or my issue I’m pondering… if I’m in phase 2, full/cloudy liquids, does that mean I should only have cloudy thin soupy stuff or can I have thicker Soups, cream of wheat, ricotta/pizza sauce, applesauce mushy thinner type stuff. I’m not trying to hurry the process but I’m just curious to see what people think a “cloudy liquid” is. Obviously if I eat something that makes me sick, hurt or anything like that I WILL NOT be eating that for a long time. The only examples my post surgery book gives me is strained fat free cream soups. HELP?!?!?- 7 replies

The drain I had was from an previous surgery. I had a scar from kidney surgery when I was 5, with a flat well everything, and as I got older & bigger the scar indented & the Dr basically did a scar revision. He had to cut more of the area than he was expecting so he placed a drain in. It did not hurt but was annoying.

My pre op was one week & it consisted of 4 Protein Shakes, from them, crystal light, Water, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, low sodium chicken & beef broth. Basically anything sugar free, calorie free, & non-carbonated. You mix the shakes with fat free, skim or 1% milk. I used skim. It was a sucky week but I just kept thinking I didn't want them to open me up & say my liver didn't shrink enough so they cancelled surgery. -

Will I ever eat a hot meal again?
court2180 replied to SueJH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read where someone uses an electric cup warmer and they put their plate on that. Obviously that can only be used at work or home...unless you want to whip it out on the table at a restaurant and ask the waiter where the outlet is?? -

This is SOOOOOOOOOOO exciting to hear! I also had a hiatal hernia she found while in there and I've had horrible acid reflux for years. I don't have any medical issues right now except that and I will be so glad when its gone. Even bread would give me heartburn. -

Since he's one of the Dr/owners at TC he might just work privately out of there. I got that letter in the mail saying he was going out of network on a Friday & was freaking out till Monday when I called them. But they said I was with Dr Holden so it wouldn't be an issue & it was covered. Maybe I can find out the scoop when I go for my post op appt Thursday. -

Lol! Dr Kim does the leak test the next morning. You sip contrast, its yellow sweet & bitter in radiology & they take images of the contrast going down. It lasts maybe 5 minutes. I did get sick from the contrast once I got back to my room. But I didn't care cause I could brush my teeth & DRINK!! It's not pleasant but it puts you closer to liquid so you really don't care. -

The last class they have you sample the protein shakes, make you buy one of theirs, give you the B-book & tell you basically how everything will go from the time you get there until you leave. I didn't get too much out of it but its all helpful & so is the book. -

I think I'm going to stick with the cream of soups and protein drinks until my post op appointment on Thursday. This is an AMAZINGLY helpful site but there are so many variations in the phases between Dr's. Thanks for the help ladies!
