  1. I lost 30 pre-op (302-272) and 111 in 10 months (272-161). Honestly, it's really kind of average, but I stall quite a bit- like every couple weeks. I lose weight like a stair-step. Maintain...lose...maintain...lose....not linear at all.

    Congratulations!! you are doing awesome.

I was sleeved in December 2012 as well but I have lost about 70lbs only and sometimes I wonder if I am losing too slow. I stall a lot too and sometimes that scares me a little because I kind of feel discouraged at times.

  2. Dec 17 surgery here, I am down 65 lbs since surgery. Add in my pre-op loss, and it's a total of 95. I am really enjoying no longer being the biggest girl in the room. I'm blending in more and more with the "normal size" folks. I have had my share of stalls, but I only allow a pity party for a few minutes and then I am back at it. I also make sure I shake things up a bit when I stall- so far they have only lasted 1-2 weeks, and I often post a significant loss when they do break. I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else is doing!

I am 47 lbs from goal.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It's great to hear testimonies like yours!

  3. Not losing weight in 4 days is not a stall. My doc says that a platoe is when you are not losing in months. I know it's hard but sometimes is better not to get on the scale every day. Consider that you are intaking lots of fluids and since your food intake is not much your body stores fluids and calories to survive. Your body is learning to adjust to a different life style. Also if you are not intaking enough fluids that can affect your progress. So do not stress over 4 days that you have not lost. Eventually weight loss will become slower but keep in mind that is not about how many pounds you lose but about the % of overweight that you have to lose. The more you lose, the smaller that percetange of exess weight you have to lose becomes.

In my case I sometimes don't see any changes on the scale for days or even weeks but I can feel that my clothes fit better so I realize I am still losing inches.

Don't feel discuraged or anxious, it is happening! just keep up the good work!!!!

  4. My leak symptoms weren't typical. I had a low and dull back ache. I had one night of chattering jaw and shaking muscles in my back- I was super cold. My body would sweat, like enough sweat that my bedding was wet.

I looked so good when the surgeon saw me, she was convinced I didn't have a leak. She seemed to be in shock I had a leak with how well I looked.

The most important thing to take from this always listen to your body. You know it best and seek help accordingly. It's always better safe than sorry especially with these types of complications. Make sure you advocate for your self. Your gut is a strong indication of what you need to do.

I wish you the best and hope that you never walk down the same road as I.

Wow. I hope you are doing much better now. I'll keep you in my prayers! Take care.

  5. Hello!!

I have had a leak and I am going through a lot with the sleeve. I am wanting to find someone who has been down or is currently going down this road. It's rough. I have been reaching out and receiving amazing support from other sleeved friends Dec Sleevers are nothing short of AMAZING!! I think it would be nice chat or text with someone who has been here.

I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing better by now. How did you find out you had a leak if you don't mind me asking?

  6. Does anyone else have a problem seeing their weight loss? I know it's happening however I still see the huge me lol. The first pic was about two weeks ago the second one is today

that happens to me. I guess it's because we see ourselves every day lol. But people around noticed more. I still see myself big too but my clothes now fit better and some are even starting to fit loose plus I am now wearing clothes that didn't fit before. I guess that's when I realize I am actually loosing weight :D

  7. Yesterday I started to feel small cramps around one of my incisions. I am afraid of having pulled a muscle or something like that. Has anyone experience any of this? I don't remember making any huge efforts yesterday and I have been following my doctor's instructions for exercising. I still have abdominal restrictions so I am kind of worried.

  8. So I just came back from my first pre op visit with my surgeon and Nut and I asked them about regular coffee they said its fine we even joked that drinking Decaf coffee is an insult to coffee... I just had a tall Starbucks Skinny Latte today I assure you it's perfectly safe.

Right??? I rather not drink any coffee than drinking decaf!!!! Lol when is ur surgery?

  9. I was sleeved on the 17th. I have lost about 12 lbs and I have been working out on elliptical machines since January 3rd. I average about 4 miles. I am anxious to speak with my nutritionist, but it doesn't happen until January 31st.

I was sleeved on 12/11 and I was just oked to start working out last week. So far my doc just wants me to do 15min on the eliptical and 15 on the stationary bike 3 times a week. but I also walk a mile every day. He say I mainly have to focus on keeping up my heart rate rather than distance.

  10. Yep mine is back to normal after about 3 years of it being screwed up. DOS:12/10 first period arrived 12/30 it was 5 days, instead of 8.

I had my surgery on 12/11/12 and had my period that same week just as normal for 4days but then this month it cam earlier and it's been for over a week now. I emailed my gyn and she said my body is adjusting but I am annoyed at this point for such a long period.

  11. Thanks Ivonneh, I don't think I'll have any problems translating but wanted to learn a bit, you know when in Rome and all that :) I've got a translator app on standby just in case. I do think it's funny that some people complain that the nurses don't all speak english, O.o seriously?

I did have some travel questions, like will I need an adapter for my electronics but thanks to google it looks like they are the same as in the states. I knew europe was different but had never thought about outlets in Mexico. I'll need to look up taking food across the border, we're driving out to San Diego so we'll be packing a cooler for the road trip and was wondering if we'll need to pack just enough for the road trip or if hubby can take it across with some Snacks while I'm in the hospital.

I was being sarcastic on my firt comment. Of course is not funny.

As for being prepared ...you don't need any special gadgets. I don't know what kind of hospital you are going to but private hospitals in Mexico are just as hospitals in the US. You can googlethe city and places you will be in. In Mexico you can live just like in the US if you have the money to pay for it.

  12. I don't think anyone would say something like that to you in Mexico. And nowadays is not so hard to find people who speak english there you will be fine!

Now for those who do complaint about the nurses who don't speak english lol it's funny because they can get full service in english here in the US if they are willing to pay the price. uhhmmm .

I got my surgery done here in the US but I speak Spanish so if you guys need any help learning spanish I'd be glad to help.
