Hey folks,
So it's been a while since I posted to this forum. It's actually been awhile since I opened this app. I was sleeved my Dr. Garcia Feb 5, 2013. My start weight was 248, surgery weight 239, current weight 205. I am closing in on 11 weeks post op. I have lost a total of 43 pounds including pre-op. 34 pounds since surgery. Everything has been great so far. No complications, a few moments of discomfort but not real problems. I'm learning a lot about my new stomach.
I haven't post to this site because I've been busy. And honestly I think that's how it is for other patients. When you are preparing for surgery your main focus is research. So you spend as much time as possible in forums, etc. But once you have had the procedure your focus isn't the forums or research. But more so on following protocol and trying to survive this procedure with no complications.
Trust me I know how frustrating it is to be looking for more people with experience. When you are trying to do your research. But believe once you've completed this process. You'll be so focused on doing things right that you forget to check in in blogs and forums.
For me I have only been able to focus once a week to my YouTube channel. Which is getting scares. I've gone from 6 min weekly vids to 56 secs weekly videos. There is a lot of sleevers that use YouTube. Maybe you all should follow a few of us to keep posted. Again I post every Tuesday sometimes Wednesday if I'm super busy. If you want to follow me you can.

In my experience' date=' you probably won't care what you look like. I've had quite a bit of pain and I'm walking the halls with no bra on because at the moment, I just don't care. Ponytail instead?
Oh and for me, it's doesnt feel great to lift your hands up that high.[/quote']
Yea I didn't care at all. Was to busy trying to get through my first few nights. Now once I returned to normal say day two after surgery I started caring.

Can anyone tell me the caloric intake range that Dr. Garcia wants his patients on? I really don't remember.

Hey all does anyone know the caloric intake range that Dr. Garcia wants his patients to follow? I can't remember.
-
Congrats ladies welcome to the losers bench. Make sure y'all tell Dr. Luna that Sade said hello and take good care of you. Lol
-
I can only say what he is for me' date=' but my total is 5500. I got a cash pay discount but had some additional fees. 500 because its a revision surgery and 300 for an endoscopy the day before to check on the condition of my stomach after the band. For someone with his experience, credentials and recommendations, it's an insane deal![/quote']
I agree
-
How much is dr Garcia? My price was $4700. Like it was said before the price depends on what has to be done. I needed no extra work so I had no extra fees.

Hey I'm on utube channel too what's your name on it?

Thanks for the informative response. which hurts more staples being removed or the drain? Just the thought of the drain gives me the chills. Totally dreading it:(
Neither of them hurts while being removed. The drain feels very weird but doesn't hurt. I honestly only had pain the day of surgery and the day after. Every other day since has been getting better and better. My pain was only during the time I had the drain.
-
I was wondering when and where do Dr. Gracias patients get their drains removed. Also once at hotel does a dr. Check on you or who is there for his patients in case you need more meds. Basically what's the after care like once you get to hotel. Just rest rest rest and walking????The drain is removed the day u are discharged from the hospital. They will give you meds to take with you for pain, antibiotics, and acid reflux. The day before you are scheduled to leave Tijuana. They will come to remove your staples. They will also give you instructions for how to care for your wounds. There isn't anyone at the hotel with you as far as medical goes. But it's really not needed. I personally felt great and did lots of walking. If you do need some sort of help or advice you can have the hotel call them at the hospital for you.
-
I know right. I just got an email saying that the Marriott is now requiring a 100 deposit either cash or credit card for the rooms. Did anyone get the same info?
I found out when I arrived. But they didn't tell me my first night only asked me after I checked back in. But it was reversed to my CC with in a week.

So glad to hear you're ok. My day is fast approaching. I'm nervous as he& and just ready to get it over with already. Preop diet is slowly coming along' date='(slowly meaning I've snuck a bite of candy here spoon of rice crispies there while the kids were eating . ) I'm really to nervous to eat though. The day before the diet started I ate everything in site out of pure nervousness. Oh well, soon I will be where you are. Did you have to take off from work? How long will you be home for?[/quote']
You'll do fine. Just leave it in God's hands and you'll have nothing to worry about. I did take off work I will be out for total of 33 days. For the sake of taking advantage of my benefits. Lol

Sade326' date=' how are you doing? Can hardly wait to hear from you girl.[/quote']Everything has been good, I reached one week Post op yesterday. Just tryna her through these days of Boredom. Lol I'm home doing nothing during this recovery. It's tuff lol but I'm doing great no real pain just discomfort. Still trying to find a comfortable way to sleep.< /p>

How are you feeling? My surgery date is 3/8 with Dr. Garcia. I'm nervous!!! How was your experience?
Stephanie
I'm feeling great good luck on ur date you'll do fine. I wasn't even nervous I had one little spell but because I watched a video of how the procedure was done right before surgery. But within a few minutes that spell was over. Lol.
-
I hope it gets better
It got a lot better
-
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hopefully you begin to feel better once the drain is removed. Are you experiencing any nausea?
I only was nauseous the first night of surgery. Which was probably from the meds.

Sade326' date=' I'm sorry to hear that you are having pain. Maybe Dr. Luna will prescribe something to help with that.I hope that you will rest better at the hotel, where it will be much quieter and the bed should be softer![/quote']
Yea a softer bed definitely made a big differences

Two days post op and in having terrible pain at my drain site. My incisions are starting to hurt a little but as well. Can't wait for Dr. Luna to remove the drain today. Hopefully that stops the pain. On top of that I barely got any sleep. Guess I won't truly recover til I'm home in my own bed.
