Y'all, Water and Vitamins, and then you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER when you are able to take in a few more calories. I had horrid fatigue, too, and a very noncooperative sleeve--I think I spent a good chunk of last May and June lying on my couch. Now, 9 months out from surgery, I am 100% back to normal, full of energy, feeling GREAT!!! Hang in there--just do what you can as you can and don't beat yourselves up.
I also have to add that if I had a job and even 1 kid, I'd be a frazzled, exhausted mess, so I'm amazed at those of you with all of that and multiple kids going on!! I don't know how you do it--and you know what? Sometimes you just earn tired, if you get my drift--you work hard chasing kids and doing housework and keeping up with everything--I'd be surprised if you weren't tired! That being said, if it goes on even after you're able to get in more than 800 calories or so, check with your doc again. Sometimes Vitamin deficiencies sneak up on you--I know my thiamine deficiency snuck right up on me 6 months after surgery, and I suspect my Iron is kind of low now--so don't delay dr. visits.
Hang in there--it really will be getting better as your calories can come up as you heal.

Where do I start... I am still in Tijuana at the hotel, i was sleeved monday night. Trish is my coordinator and I don't think there are enough words to express how sweet & caring she is. I went alone so having Trish there with me was a godsend.
Dr. Ponce is an excellent doctor with an awesome bedside manner. He doesn't speak english but Trish is there to translate and I had no problems with asking questions. I got a dvd of my surgery and my swallow test/xray. There should be more talk on these boards about Dr. Ponce, most people talk about Aceves, Garcia, & Kelly but I think Dr.Ponce should be right up there.
I was nervous of this journey but as soon as i met Trish in person and Dr. Ponce I knew I was in good hands. I write this as I sit in the beautiful Lucerna hotel in a king size bed with just a little pain, not much gas and am drinking liquids like a champ.
If someone I love or even just know casually asks me about my surgery there are in for an earful about how great Dr. Ponce and his team are.
Thank you Dr. Ponce and Trish for helping me change my life and being fantastic people who, when they are with you, you are there focus. I don't think I could have done this without Trish.

This is a really old topic, but I'm thinking a lot about emotional eating and what tools I can use to work on that part of all of this. I was an OA/DA member about six years back....it was helpful, but it was very depressing to me. I am not sure what it is about it? Someone earlier in the thread talked about manifested demons and some of that is true to me. I felt so down and focused on my failure in OA/DA.
I am really seeking somethign that can be positive and proactive. Not sure what that is yet. I joined "shrinkyourself.com" in hopes that that might help, because the bookw as good, but the site is weird and feels repetiive, but i'm trying.
I'm with others about WW. it felt like a joke to me, because so many of the people are there to lose 20 lbs or something....and it just feels like while it touches at emotional eating, sure, its superficial.
I am going to try the WLS support groups.
I consider this whole forum a WLS support group. But I am also surprised that there isn't a forum just around psychological/emotional eating issues to discuss those!
Well, rambling, but it is what I am thinking about.

Hi Ricky, Lis here and I'm a grateful recovering compulsive over-eater in other words, food addict. Grateful because the surgery is forcing me to face myself. I have felt like a tortoise stripped of its shell. Anxious, I went home from the hospital and sank into a most morbid depression. I was so bad that I didn't care about losing weight. My life as I knew it was over and I was left stripped of my identity, alone in my disease and terrified. Terrified because my drug of choice, food as I knew it, was history. My aging parents came to me and stood by while I was paralyzed with fear, I dwelt on death. I went for counseling. I went to 2 psychiatrists. I went through 2 anti-anxiety medications and finally was put on an antidepressant that stimulated my appetite enough so I wouldn't end up back in the hospital, (I was repulsed by food). Now I am working the 12 steps. Years ago, in spite of my lifelong addiction to food, I snubbed the 12 step OA program. Not any more, although I'm still afraid, I'm grateful because the effects of this surgery, (withdrawal from food as I knew it), made me realize my addiction and how years of addiction to food stunted my growth, (joke unintended). For me, shedding the weight is not enough. As I now see it, I've no choice but to work the 12 steps and heal inside. I'm on step one and it's taken me half a lifetime to get there. Thanks for your post.
