  1. I used Dr. Borland for my sleeve on 12/5/12. I absolutely love my sleeve and Dr. Borland. I have had no problems, minimal discomfort and at 4 weeks out I have lost 22 pounds. I am now on regular food (of course much smaller portions). Last night for supper I had pan seared catfish, topped with pan seared shrimp along with steamed squash and zucchini. Yum! Join me on my fitness pal (JoJoHarrison) so we can encourage each other.
  2. I spray a little Pam in a non stick pan, break open the egg and scramble/fry it in the pan. I don't like any soft or runny white so I make sure that part is well done. Very easy to do and goes down easily for me.
  3. I was sleeved on 12/5/12. SW = 254 CW = 231 Size 2x or 20 W Now size x-lg and reg 16 The next goal my dr set is 204 which makes me overweight - not obese!! My final goal is 160. I am 5'9". I feel I am losing slower than some others. I am grateful for 23 pounds gone forever.
  4. This makes me feel so much better. I was sleeved on 12/5/12. When I went for my 1 week check up I lost 10 pounds. I have a friend who had her sleeve 3 weeks before me who lost 24 pounds the first week and another friend who had hers last week who lost 20 pounds. I was feeling discouraged. I am now on the normal diet and feel I can eat pretty much anything. My friend who is 3 weeks ahead of me is still struggling to get foods down. She says it feels like they are stuck in her throat. Now I feel like a worrywart because I worry I am eating too much. I wish there was a guideline that said ... eat this and this and you will loose 2 pounds a week. :/ I know it will get better as I get used to it. The not knowing or worrying if I am doing something wrong is what bothers me.
  5. Wow. 5 years?!? I hope this goes away soon. Lol. I am not taking any Prevacid or anything like that. I am gonna try and avoid that if I can. Will continue to use gas x and heating pad. Just glad it isn't a heart attack. Lol
  6. I am 3 weeks out (12/5/12) and just started experiencing pain in my left shoulder. It seems to get worse after I eat. I am thinking it is gas, but I seriously thought I would be passed that by now. I have had minimal discomfort, am working hard to get in about 50 gm of Protein, 64 oz of Water and my Vitamins. Most days I reach these goals. Any thoughts on this? Oh and when I take gas x strips it subsides but doesn't go away completely.
  7. I was sleeved on 12/5/12 and felt the same way. I never noticed all the food commercials before. I endured the first week of clear liquids. But by the time creamy liquids started I felt a little more satisfied. And my first bite of soft foods took the edge off of cravings. I actually allowed myself to be photographed this year at family Christmas parties because I look forward to next year with a new, healthier me.
  8. I just had my 1 week post op visit (12/5/12 sleeve) and like you I lost 10 pounds exactly. At first I was ... What?? Only 10 pounds?? But then I thought .. That 10 pounds is gone forever!! As far as what you are taking in, my doctor told me, in this order .. Protein (40 to 60 gms ), Water - as much as possible. Aim for or build up to 64 oz., and gummy Vitamins. That is my orders for the next 3 weeks . Oh and I can start walking. Keep your chin up. We got this.
  9. 1 week post op and my hips don't hurt. .
  10. Sarah - I am from DS, LA. I am sorry you are having such a hard time. Have you tried using gas x strips for the gas? Also a heating pad does wonders for the gas pains. My goal thru Wednesday is to increase my liquid consumption by 1 cup a day. I was at 5 cups yesterday. I am a Water guzzler so siping water has been hard. I bought a child's sippy cup and use that for my water. Good luck to you and let me know how you are doing.
  11. Awesome!!! I am 5 days out, am also 5' 9" and started at 254 on my surgery date. I hope I can do as well as you!! Congratulations again!
  12. HW = 278 Surgery date = 12/5/12 SW = 254 CW = 239 Christmas Weight = 230 New Years Weight = 220 I tried to factor in that dreaded 3 week stall. Lol
  13. I had surgery on 12/5 and am pretty amazed at how well I feel. I am on Clear liquids till the 12th and hope to start on my creamy liquids then. I am basically living on sonic ice chips, Water and a little chicken broth. The weird thing is I don't feel hungry but now notice all the food commercials. I know we are all different as are our surgeons. I see in forums where their doctors are wanting them to get in 50 grams of Protein. My question is how do I do this on a clear liquid diet??
  14. Well .. I have now crossed to the other side .. The losers bench!!!! Got my sleeve yesterday, the doctor also repaired a hernia I didn't know I had. Minimal discomfort. Knock on wood.
  15. I am sooooo ready. A little nervous, a little excited. I was kind of panicky earlier and had to remind myself that today is truly my LAST Fat Tuesday. Today is my liquid pre-op day. Has been good so far . I don't look forward to the magnesium citrate I have to drink tonight. I keep telling myself it is soooo gonna be worth it when my knees, hips, etc aren't hurting me all the time.
  16. Thanks for the info on Estrogen. I am perimenapausal and take an estrogen supplement. I get sleeved this week, 12/5 and one of my biggest concerns is not bring able to take my supplement. This actually puts my mind at rest.
  17. My surgery is set for 12/5/12. My friend just had hers on 11/14/12. I was her "person", the one who took care of her after her surgery and before she went home. I am so glad I was able to experience the surgery from that side of the bench. I am excited to start a new, healthier life and appreciate the advise she has given me. The big thing that sticks out is up to 5 days post op she questioned her decision to have the surgery. After the 5th day she started getting her strength back and the nausea subsided. And for her one week check up she lost 24 pounds!!!
  18. You look awesome. I am also 5' 9" and hope to see similar results . My sleeve date is set for 12/5/12.
  19. I just received final approval for my sleeve surgery on 12/5/12!! I am so excited and so nervous all at the same time. Dr. Borland in New Iberia Louisiana is doing my surgery.
