Hey everyone...sorry I havent been on layely...work has been crazy busy.
I am doing ok...have done mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, and scrambled eggs ok. Having issues getting in enough liquid. It's hard at work to get it in. I have been having a hard time taking pills, so I am not taking my Vitamins yet. Hopefully get that figured out soon.
I have lost 15 lbs and also need to stop weighing myself so much. I told myself I wouldnt and so its time to put it away so I dont see it everyday.
One day at a time...

Hi my friends' date=' I'm going to pack this weekend for my VSG procedure on Wednesday (06/12) . I will be traveling and staying in the hospital for 3 nights. What did you pack? Is there anything you would recommend? I appreciate any words of wisdom. Thank you!![/quote']Here is what I used:
Chapstick
Slip on shoes for walking
Gas X strips
Small pillow for coughing/comfort while traveling
Phone charger
Crystal light on the go
Powdered broth (bouillon, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, etc)
Book/ ipad
The last three were because I had a longer travel time.

Happy one week Sleeversary. I'm happy to read everyone is doing well and progressing. My progress is going well. Still trying to get comfortable with the Soup going down. I think for some reason I'm still a little bloated or I'm taking in too much air when I sip. When the Fluid hits my stomach it feels weird. How does Fluid or soup feel going down for everyone else?It will feel weird until you tummy heals (same thing when I had the band). Right now our body's are like "wtf, things are different!". As you heal, your tummy nerves will be less sensitive and you won't notice the digestion process unless you eat too fast or something to "big" for the stage you are in.
-
Wags: it feel like pressure in my chest, pretty intense. Then I could feel the pressure go down into my tummy. Then it came back up.
I can't wait for Sunday - full liquids!!

I have a desk job, my surgery was 5/31 and i did a half day at the office today. Was a little tired, but overall was fine going back to work (someone drove me, cuz I cant drive yet)

Ugg...just found out what it feels like when you drink too fast. I need to do a better job at focusing when I eat/drink.
How is everyone else doing?

C section, lap band, band removal, sleeve: the sleeve was by far the least painful and has had the easiest recovery so far. Of course I think it depends on the surgeon and aftercare.

Was everyone happy with Dr Alvarez? Trying to decide on a doctor for this summer and looks like he has a lot of nice feedback.I wouldn't trade my experience with Dr. Alvarez for the world. It's not just him either, all the docs, nurses, patient coordinators are amazing. They made my husband and I feel at home and went above and beyond to answer questions, make me comfortable and informed. I honestly was only in pain when they put the IV in (I have rolling veins) and never was uncomfortable with sickness; but they were ready to assist if I did.
They are world class and I am thankful that I found them. I feel like I have ALL the tools and support to suceed thanks to them.

I need to write out my story...just haven't focused on it yet. I am on Clear Liquids thru Friday and then full liquids for 1 week, puree for 1 week and onto reg food after that. I have been battling a sinus headache today, so I didn't walk as much as I should have.
I'm bored with broth, but not really hungry either so its ok.
Got the hiccups this morning - not fun!

Listen to your doctor, follow your plan
Be patient
Only weigh yourself once a week

I find it helps to wedge a pillow under my tummy when I sleep on my side. It prevents me for putting too much pressure on my incisions. Also, make sure everything is thoroughly thru your tummy before you go to sleep. If you have residue from medicine or something you drank, it can give you the reflux.
Glad you are doing good at home. I will be home this afternoon and can't wait to sleep in my own bed!

I am back in San Antonio and can say that my experience with Dr. Alvarez was fantastic. Everyone is so caring and eager to help you be successful. After I get home I will write up my story. I would recommend them 1000%.

I must be a total wimp. I'm really uncomfortable' date=' can't stand the liquids, battling bouts of nausea and my abs are killing me when I move which I have to do every 1.5 hours as they are pumping me so full of IV fluids. It seems like so many folks make this out to be a breeze. It has been far from that for me. Praying it gets better soon!!!![/quote']You are NOT a wimp. Everyone is different. I am comparing mine to when I had the band surgery and it was aweful.
Today has been a little harder, I guess that makes since because most of the time it takes your body time to realize a change has happened.
Sending tons of prayers your way...take it one minute at a time. (((Hugs)))

Hello from the sleeved side! Everything went great and Dr. Alvarez and his team are AMAZING. Surgery took a little longer due to scar tissue from band that was removed last year. I am in absolutely no pain and have already started walking around. Can't wait to get the IV out tomorrow. Time to get some sleep now, tomorrow will probably be very tiring. Thank you for all your thoughts prayers!!!

Leaving in about 20 minutes to cross the border. I am a little nervous, but know I am in good hands.
Side note: went to the casino last night and won $400! That will cover most of me and hobby's airfare.

Dr. Alvarez and his staff are amazing. I was sleeved on 5/31 and was overwhelmed by the support and care I received (and am still receiving post-op). I had absolutely no pain or sickness - they were always on top on meds to make sure I was comfy. No issues with traveling to/from Mexico, it was a breeze. Hospital room was recently updated and was a good size for me and hubby. The hospital is being renovated on some floors, but wasn't an issue noise-wise or otherwise.
Wouldnt trade my experience, even if money was no object,
I am hopefully going to type up my story this weekend. Feel free to msg me with questions.
