I did it with jerkey- and I'm perfectly fine- I just needed to chew something a couple times- and I did it with sunflower seeds too- I just sucked the salt off -

I did this during the liquid stage twice. Once was steak on the barbecue. The other time was chicken. I just needed to chew and I was so sick of the sweet taste of Protein Shakes and Crystal Light. I haven't had the urge since graduating to soft foods.
