  1. I'm sorry that I can't help with any useful information, since I've never had lipo, but I can say with confidence that it can't be nearly as bad as what you have already dealt wit in the past. You will handle this with grace and get a great outcome - I'm sure of it! ????

    Bras post lift

Thanks so much! What brand was the original post op bra? And how did you know what size to buy?

    Surprisingly clueless people

That would be like expecting your bariatric surgeon to know as much about your heart as your cardiologist, and as much about your neurological system as your neurologist. It's just not possible for all physicians to be well versed in all areas of medicine and surgery. That's why physicians specialize and why they consult each other to take best advantage of each other's knowledge - to benefit the patient.

    Bras post lift

Thanks so much for all that good information! I apologize that I wasn't more clear. I meant immediately post op. Thanks.

    Constipation

Miralax and a probiotic daily. Fluids will make or break you, and it is so tough to get enough fluids in at your stage in the journey. So try your level best to drink more. This too shall pass! ????

    Got plastic surgery dates....

Congratulations! Especially that you felt up to standing up and even getting your picture taken! I'm sure you will heal quickly!
  8. So totally normal! It's ok to feel what you are feeling, and look for some healthy outlets to try to manage it. For me, it was long walks - I like to walk off my stress. You got this! It will get better, just be kind to yourself in the meantime.
  9. How about the perennial "I just got my period. Will the surgeon postpone my procedure?"
  10. I never said it to anyone at the time, but I wondered that one. Now look at me. I sneer at the askers behind their backs. It's lovely to be superior and jaded. Sneer? Superior? Jaded? Dramatic much? In all my time on this forum, FB groups, other WLS discussion boards, etc., I have read ONE story where the author actually had proof of such suspicions. Even she had surgery performed, however, the stomach simply wasn't made as small as it should have been. Never have I read/heard of someone who went in, went under, and came back with no WLS when advised they had it. You? Actually yes. From a nurse practitioner in a bariatric practice. The patient had gotten band surgery in another country and was coming to this practice for follow up stateside. They attempted to fill her band, but nothing was happening. They had a CT done and found there was never a band placed, only the port to fill the nonexistent band.

    They seemed sane...Dating horror stories

Wow - I'm so worried about the whole move in together phase, that part was easy peasy for you! Talk about smooth transition! I'm glad it all worked out so well. ????

    Cloths after plastics

I have the same problem! Jeans are actually kind of uncomfortable now, because my butt is a different shape, and once I sit or bend over, I then have to hike them up, back into place. I just figure that when I have the time I will look until I find the right pair that is the right fit for me. It never occurred to me to go backwards to elastic again! I can't even consider that.
  13. I ended up needing stitches to aid the wound healing because it was so deep, so if you notice a big difference in the depth, I would call the doctor and have him or her take another look at it.
  14. Congratulations! Looking great!

    Loose tummy skin

It bother me too, but it honestly didn't bother anyone I dated. The guy I'm dating now specifically kissed my stomach the first time we were together, he wanted to show me that he appreciated all of me. I would tell the person before we got to that point just to see how they reacted too. Now that I have had my LBL, I feel much more confident in that area.

    1mth post body lift question

I still feel swelling on and off, and I'm 9 months out. I think it takes a really long time to recover from this surgery, and maybe you need to listen to your body and slow it down some. Consider using your compression garments for a few days and take it easy until you feel more like yourself again.

    Tummy tuck questions about scar

I second cowgirl Jane, canyon baby and Lexie! From what I have read and seen online, the vertical cut gives you are more feminine shape. But I didn't get it, I didn't want the vertical scar either. I was ok with the trade off. I did get my muscles tightened, and I'm very glad I did. But definitely be sure about what you want and what you are willing to live with before going under the knife. This is a long term investment.

    Drains!

My experience seems to have been different than most of you - my drains hurt a lot and leaked a lot. But it was a necessary evil, and it was doable. I wouldn't let that fear keep you from reaching your goal.

How NUMB are you post plastics?

That gave me a chuckle …imagine everyone talking about you slapping your butt at work! ????

    Tummy Tuck Questions

I think it depends on how much has to be done. My surgeon took off 10 lbs of skin with my lower body lift and abdominalplasy, and I have gone down 2 pants sizes. And curiously, one band size in my bra.

How NUMB are you post plastics?

I had my LBL in January, and I do still feel numbness. Its weird....I tend to feel like my underwear is falling down, but it isn't - its just the sensation of the fabric rubbing against the numb parts. I kept checking and tugging for a while there, until I finally trusted what I was feeling! A little awkward..... I had both of my knees replaced in 2009, and my knees were numb to sensation and temperature for years afterward. I'm actually not sure if the numbness 100% goes away, or if your body just adjusts to this new normal until it feels....normal to you. Odd phenomenon, in my opinion. So, I don't worry about the numbness, since I have my previous experiences to draw upon. This too shall pass....
  23. Oh, yeah. That's easily done. Not. Who got me on board? Me. Did anyone here actually ever have someone "talk them into" dealing successfully with their obesity? Amen sister! My oldest sister is very obese and gains more every year. I know it bothers her that I "left" her as the only fat sibling, and she has never once acknowledged or congratulated me for losing over 100 pounds. I know I could never talk her into surgery, so I just every so often try to slip in a positive detail, something health wise that improved with the weight loss. I just want her to know that I'm ready to help whenever she is ready for the help. I just wish she would get ready already!

    Constipation

A probiotic daily has been very helpful to me. I still occasionally need miralax though.
  25. I definitely have to watch myself, and there are times when I put too much on my plate, because my eyes are still too big for my stomach, even though I'm almost 3 years out. Last December I just lost myself for a moment, and ate a while Friendly's sundae for a meal, just like the old days. It was an eye opener that I could still do that! I teared right up, and resolved to never do something like that again. This definitely takes constant vigilance!
