  1. Here they have sugar free candy and sugar free cookie and brownie mixes. The mixes have all natural ingredients. I haven't tried them yet but I have a package of the chocolate chip cookie mix ordered. Post-op Foods
  2. I got it at Wal Mart by the boullion cubes. I have also gotten it at Albertsons and Whole Foods. Its always by the soups/broths/boullions. It really is heartier and more filling than just broth.
  3. Hi, I'm 2 weeks post op and have been on mushies since day 10. I have totally stopped losing weight and am fluctuating between 264-267. I'm still only eating 1,000-1,200 calories per day but am no longer losing. It seems most bandsters average around 1,000-1,200 calories per day after being filled. So, if I'm not losing now on this amount of calories, how will I lose on this amount of calories after being filled? Any insight? Thanks.
  4. Hi, I was banded 2 weeks ago. I have always had really oily hair and skin and acne. Since being banded, my skin looks great. It's almost completely cleared up and never oily and my hair doesn't get nearly as oily either. It's great and I love only having to wash my hair every other day. I'm just wondering if this benefit will last or if once I go back to eating regular food (I'm on mushies now) if my hair and skin will go back to being oily and having acne. Does anyone know or have experience with this? Thanks.
  5. I have the new AP band too. They said it already has a few cc's of saline in it when they put it in. I think this has helped me not be as hungry as most claim to be during "bandster hell". I would definitely request it over the others if you have that option.
  6. Well, I went to my PCP this morning and she said my incision looks fine. I had taken the steri strips off and just put a bandage over it and all the gooeyness and wetness dried up almost immediately and by the time she looked at it, it was dry and it looks like a layer of skin has formed over it. She said was not infected and while there may be a bigger scar than I would like because it is taking longer to close up, she said it is healing and it looks good. She said to just keep washing it with soap and water and keep it clean and dry. She said I could leave it open, but I'm not comfortable doing that so I'm going to keep a bandage over it. Thanks for all the replies and advice. I feel better about it now.
  7. Oh my gosh, I got some of those laughing cow reduced fat cheese wedges (french onion flavored) and tried one yesterday and it was soooo good. Very creamy and satisfying.
  8. I've noticed since my surgery that everything is stronger tasting than before....salty stuff is saltier, sweet is sweeter, hot is hotter, etc. Has anyone else experienced this? Did anyone watch Oprah today? Jessica Seinfeld was on there and she has written a cookbook about using vegetable purees in foods to get kids to eat more veggies. She puts them in everything from mac and cheese and chicken nuggets to brownies! And Oprah and the audience said the stuff was delicious. I'm thinking about getting the book. I don't have kids but I have DH who is just as bad about eating his veggies. LOL Plus, the recipes are low fat and healthy as well. It's called Deceptively Delicious. About Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld
  9. Wow, those are loaded with sugar.
  10. I think that would be great Laura.
  11. Yes, I did already order it. Thanks though.
  12. It's tender but not really sore. It's not hot to the touch, no odor, no fever.
  13. I am 12 days post op and this is what my incision looks like. It's not even close to closing up and its all gooey looking. I put some new steri strips on it but I have not used any type of medication on it because they originally told me not to. I am also keeping it covered with gauze. I have emailed a picture to my surgeons office but I think he is on vacation right now. Does this look bad? Do I need to go see my regular dr about it? Thanks.
  14. Mindy-Is it like gourmet/specialty type foods? I hope not because it's hard for me to get stuff like that unless I go to Dallas which is an hour away and I really don't like going to Dallas for groceries.
  15. Use it in casseroles too.
  16. Ladyblue-I'm assuming your incision healed since this post is from a few months back. How long did it take your large incision to heal? I am 10 days post op and my largest one doesn't seem to be closing up...or at least not as fast as most say theirs do. My steri strips are still on it. I took the ones off all the others tonight because my doc said I could after 7 days but I waited a few extra days. Did yours take awhile to finally close up? Thanks.
  17. I am 10 days post op and up until yesterday, I haven't had much gas at all. I have belched a lot but it was not painful gas like air bubbles trapped in my mid to lower abdomen like it is now. I started mushies yesterday....do you think that's what is causing it? I've taken gas x and walked but it doesn't help a lot. Oh well, it's the price we pay....
  18. Who knew it was so good? I've seen it in the store and heard of it but I've never been much of a hot tea drinker so I never tried it. However, I got a sample of spiced low carb chai in my bariatriceating.com sampler kit and I just fixed it and it is soooo good! It even smells wonderful too.
  19. Hi, I just ordered Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. I haven't received it yet but I bought it from half.com. I've also seen it on ebay and amazon. I'd just get it from wherever you can find it cheapest.
  20. You can get them done at the Surgery Center of Richardson for $100....no fluroscopy though, or at least I was told they don't use it. I haven't had my first fill yet though so I'm not sure.
  21. Lack of enough fat in your diet can cause hair loss too. I knew a girl once that went on a no fat diet and she lost a lot of hair.
  22. OMG, that is ridiculous. How inconsiderate could they be?
  23. Is it just the harder cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella that you all can eat or can you eat the softer, stickier type cheeses like american and velveeta also....in very small amounts of course? I am on mushies now and I just want to have a slice of cheese so bad....
  24. A girl I work with used him and she was very pleased with him.
