  1. I think it's not really "bringing up to Alex" worthy in the sense that it (the op) was unique in its putting both Christian and atheist points of view together. Which I'm going to assume opened the door to "debate"..

But yes in the future this is not the "convert an atheist" forum so I would expect to have a forum for them and a forum for us...

  2. Good morning and evening ladies.

I was down for the count yesterday! I had my father in laws 80th birthday Friday afternoon it was at a Mexican restaurant which is funny because he doesn't care for Mexican food! But I do... It actually wasn't a issue going out to eat I had chicken molè and within a few bites got very full and just visited and had fun..

Afterwards the immediate family went back to the in laws for an early Christmas..

food everywhere but that not what got me. It was my evil sisters in laws and tequila.

We drank two bottles of partón between us then aparently started drinking whisky!! No bueno!

By the end of the evening I had one sister in law losing everything she ate everywhere.. And the other who quite honestly I adore, crying because she said she didn't want to see me because she had heard I lost a lot of weight :(

I was so sad that I caused her stress and anguish. I want to help her and for the first time I felt like I did take the easy way out...

Yesterday I was sicker than a dog all day!

    Two lessons I learned

    1) don't drink tequila shots with sisters in laws

    2) don't try and learn to twerk with said sisters in laws when my evil daughter has a recording device :P

    Us after the first bottle!

  3. It does get easier :) my first month was hard. Tired all the time queasy on and off and emotional. Things will feel like they are breaking down health wise because your body is still weak from surgery and you can be susceptible to getting sick a little easier..

But trust me you will get better and you will be healthy happy (and much smaller) this time next year :)

  4. My statement of

"I think this is why fights erupt here sometimes..."

Was referring to the many "I ate pizza threads"

Or "I cheated" threads not this one in particular..

To the op this is a support and and exchange of idea site.. People will express their views some you will like and relate to and others well you can choose to pass on by.

But feeling like you want to leave or not post the forum because one or two people don't agree with everything is not really worth it I think :)

  5. Hi! First I want up commend you for using the search feature here :) it's refreshing to see!

At six days out our digestive systems are very messed up and trying to heal. Most of us have lots of diarrhea, explosive at times.

If it continues and you start getting dehydrated put a call into your doctor.

As for the salty broth I really don't think that's it, but lie sodium broth is the best so try that.

    Good luck to you :)

Hey All, 6 days ago I had the gastric sleeve surgery. Starting on day 2, I had sporadic diarrhea and fatigue. Then beginning yesterday afternoon and continuing into today, I have been having explosive diarrhea, along with feeling so very weak, I can't do anything but sleep. I started researching the web a couple of hours ago, and found out about "dumping syndrome." It certainly sounds like me! However, everything talks about eating "too much" and sweets and fatty foods. Well, I am having the opposite issue.... I am not able eat much of anything. I'm even having trouble getting down enough fluids to keep from dehydration! The common denominator in all I have eaten (hospital and home) is "chicken and beef broth." I've noticed that they always seem to be "salty". Does anyone know if dumping syndrome can be brought on by broth? If so, then what can I "eat" at this stage of my process? Thanks a bunch! Tina

  6. Well there is a major difference in eating this at two weeks out and at seven months out..

At seven months? Not the greatest choice if you are still in the losing phase.

As for it being a "good" choice if you are in a pinch?! I don't think so..unless you just eat the toppings (again when you are much further out)

To a certain extent the sleeve is still about willpower and taking personal responsibility.

I think this is why fights erupt here sometimes...

You may eat that pizza and be ok, you may not..

Like I said that's all of our choices to make.

But those of us further out know that a "cookie" is not just a cookie, it represents so much more.

the deeper issue I think is the behavior. We did a serious thing to ourselves having this radical surgery..

But it is not a miracle or a cure.

Many people find ways to "eat around" the sleeve. We got here because of our disordered eating so it's not a surprise that we would try to figure out ways to eat still, even right after surgery.

This is something we need to face and work on changing in the early days. Because it will get increasingly harder to do it the further out you get.

Okay, okay..i understand...am I the only one that thinks that pizza is a good food to eat..Not 8 weeks out but when you are healed and on solid food....I think that it is good for you...it has everything on it and i was told that it is the best all around food to eat when you are in a pinch... I think that if we always deny ourselves certain foods that it will be harder and harder to it together..we have to learn to use food to feed our bodies not our emotions and mind......denying things is like all the other diets that we failed at...I can see not eating things that are hard for you to control them..sliders...but we still have to learn that food is not our enemy..We still need to eat..don't we!!!!!!! I think that not learning to eat normal is a mistake that can cause problems down the road..But that is just me..Maybe I am the problem because I don't understand....if i am the problem..maybe I don't belong here either..... Love you lipsstick

  7. 4 days on my diet and I've lost 7 pounds and it took me a year and a half to get to this point I am mind over matter and it feels so good

Awesome..... You might find like minded and bodied people on these forums. As they are for strong minded people like yourself that can do it without surgery.http://weight-loss.fitness.com/forum.php

  8. I think when a lot if us go into this we forget or just don't realize this is a MAJOR surgery, I know I did.

Don't let the little scars fool you...

Now it's going to take time to recover.

You are less than a week out. The only thing you should be doing is concentrating on healing, that means resting, hydrating, walking around a bit and resting some more..

Things will get better it will not always be this bad, your body just needs time to heal from the major trauma it just went through.

Really I was not 100% for a month!

Be kind to yourself and know in just a very short time this hard part will just be a memory :)

  9. DEAL! i promise to get my Water in today. im almost done with a 20oz bottle so ill just refill while i finish up my shopping today! have a great day

Ok just finished my 32 ounces and I'm bringing a 32 oz bottle with me to the party so I will work on that for the rest of the day!

Hope the rest of your day goes well :)

  10. It's not very savvy but I just told.

When I went out to eat and somebody asked about my weird eating I would just blurt out I had weight loss surgery on such and such a date.

Then answer all the questions they had about it.

I don't shout it from the roof tops but at the same time it is part of what I'm going through so It would and does come up in conversations :)

  11. My word..

I think you will find what you are looking for here..

    http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/436-religious-sleevers/

Interesting that you ask the question about death. I used to think the same way. Why do I have to die when life is good. Then I became a believer and learned that our life is not sublime here on earth. We are born into sin and reaching the hereafter is truly sublime. I also learned that what we do here on earth in His name matters most and that doesn't have to do with good works or deeds, it has a lot to do with whom you are putting your faith and trust in. Plus, we cry because of our relationship that we have with others and not being able to see them for a while. Weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning Psalms 30. This is why our weeping only last for a short while because we take pleasure in knowing that we will see them again...for those that believe. Again, my belief.

  12. I went through that at about the same time frame..

I felt pretty good I bought a bunch of new clothes that I really like at a "regular" store and I got to feeling complacent... I stayed happy with the loss and my new duds for a little while then went on to be interested in losing again (at a snails pace mind you :P) just like our body's go through stalls (resting periods) our brains go through them too. :)

  13. thanks laura, i had no problem the first few weeks getting my Water in but ever since last saturday i have been so busy that ive been struggling to get even half that amount in. def gonna have to work on this for a bit. i have been overweight my entire life and i guess im just getting impatient.

I know, that's been me too.. It's the damn holidays! Water for me even after a year is a full time job...

Ok I'm super busy today I'm about to go shopping (again) and I have a party at 2 let's make a promise to get our water in today!

As far as patience? At some point I just told myself to chill out. I said give it a year. And if after trying at this for a year (really trying) if you still haven't lost a good amount by then, then you can freak out, obsess and become impatient :)

  17. Oh and earlier thing I said about how when we post in here it "shows" up under the Recent Topics...and then I thought maybe it didn't? Well, not sure what happened the other day but yep, when we post here it shows up under recent topics, so that is where people are probably learning that this thread exists yet they don't have "access" to it.

Sheila it shows up in recents for us. Only when we are signed in :)

  18. Your surgery is not the reason you're losing weight.........What you're eating and how much you're eating is the reason. Explain this to your Mom and try to get her to follow your diet right along with you.....together. Motivate each other. Eat the same foods and fluids and exercise together. It's worth a try.

    Well shoot I coulda had a v8.. :P

If it were as simple as that why did we have the surgery? Why are you having it??
