Ok so how about something less scientific? First, this behavior is the first steps of bulemia and getting into the habit of chewing food and spitting it out can lead to a very serious eating disorder. After WLS we are already dealing with changing the way we relate to food, so we want to instill good habits all along the way and avoid the bad ones as much as possible. Second, there's a biological reason not to do this too. When you smell food and when it enters your mouth and you begin to chew, the body goes into Prep Mode to receive food. Your salivary glands produce saliva, your pancreas produces insulin, your liver produces gastric acid and your brain begins to calculate how much nutrition you're about to receive from the food you eat so it can keep track of it's daily needs/calories --- the body is a well tuned machine and it knows how to deal with food when it knows it's coming. But then you spit out the food. Your body still has excess saliva, insulin, gastric acid and it can't figure out why it didn't get the nutrition it thought it was going to get so the brain accountants go nuts. Excess insulin in your body causes your appetite to increase so you'll eat more food to soak up all that extra hormone. Excess gastric acid in the stomach -- now released at the Y of your common channel -- can cause indigestion or heartburn or ulcers. And those brain accountants are now doing some creative math to recalculate the nutritional value of food because it thought it was going to get a certain number of calories, but none came, so next time you try to eat that same food the brain thinks you need twice as much to get the same nutrition as it thought it should have gotten last time. So not only is the whole "chew and spit" habit a training ground for bulemia, it's also a way to tease your body into thinking it's getting food when it really isn't. Bulemia is a very serious illness and not something you want to play around with. I know you think this doesn't apply to you or the people here.. But I'm going to assume that all of us got here because of an unhealthy relationship with food and poor eating habits??

Chewing and spitting the food out is NOT a good thing to do. RISKS, Most report the practice of CHSP becomes “addictive” and difficult to cease. Because the individual avoids consuming the food through normal means of digestion he/she risks suffering from improper nutrition. CHSP can lead to ulcers because when food is in the mouth it triggers an acid release in the stomach, which can attack stomach lining when food is not present for digestion. CHSP behavior can be as physically, emotionally and physiologically negative as severe food restriction and/or binge eating. Even though the food is being spit out, it is often possible that the person does not lose weight, because a) some of the calories still make it into one’s system, those engaged in such behaviors may be prone to erratic eating in addition to CHSP, and/or c) the body reacts in unpredictable ways to the behavior, including releasing insulin into the body, triggered by food’s presence in the mouth.

I know I have a teenager too.. Oh and a husband. Just be nice to yourself and let them fend for themselves a bit if the house gets messy the house gets messy. Remember also you will be very emotional the first month. We are dumping hormones like crazy. This is something I discussed in depth with my husband so he was more prepared for my mood swings and dealt with things (helping out) better. -

I don't think yelling would cause a leak.. At nine days out I still had lots of pain but if you get worse or develop a fever, That would be the time to call the doctor. 25 pounds in nine days ?? Girl I'd be yelling that from the roof tops -

how to reset your metabolism with excersize and food?
No game replied to leeann71's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hehe.. Not sure if I built that much muscle overnight but oh well I'm going to just keep trying! Girl a candy bar? Did you read that post yesterday I think it was?? The guy who ate a pack of m&ms, a piece of cake then licked the frosting off of a bunch of cupcakes later in the day and woke up 4 pounds lighter the next morning???? I think we might be going about this all wrong -
Sorry to here that, I was fortunate and never had the foamies or slimes but it sounds horrible. Just make sure that you measure your food to only 1/4 cup at a time. Take tiny bites wait a minute between bites and don't be distracted while your eating.

I think my husband thinks I'm taking him for granted.. He works hard and my "job" is to keep the house and cook the meals.. Not saying he never cooks because he does sometimes when he has multiple days off in a row.. I think I just don't like cooking anymore. I eat so simply these days that I forget about pleasing others people's hunger with something complicated and tasty. -
I'm going to assume that you mean 1000 calories a day and not 100?? The best thing you can do is go back to basics and eat your protein, veggies and fruits. And cut out the processed junk type food.

I stay home I keep the house clean, and not with cleaning ladies! I do it! When I cook we have two older kids that complain half the time and they don't eat what I cook anymore so it's frustrating. But Yes they all ate steak tonight oh and banana bread ( and now I'm mad because i ate some banana bread) My dinner? Will be yogurt, it's hot! Edit; sorry for my rant.. But I find it hard sometimes the whole food thing and other people. -

I wish I could... Like he is seriously mad right now 0_o It all started because he wanted tri tip and potatoes for dinner tonight (the skinny bastard) And it's f**king 90 degrees!!! So then he's like you know you don't work you could at least treat this ( the house kids and him) like a full time job... I'm so mad and we never actually fight that I'm beside myself right now!! He's getting his meat and potatoes and like a good "housewife" I just noticed 4 overripe bananas and I'm making banana bread too. Ok I hear the 1950's calling me gotta go.. Ps I'm REALLY MAD! And I think hurt... But mostly MAD. -

Don't you just love the inequality?
No game replied to quackstitch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But really it's about what kind of policy your employer decides on not the insurance company. A prime example is all of us here that have BCBS Some wait 3 months some six some like me have no waiting and some are not covered at all! I think at the end of the day we are all lucky to have this opportunity whether you had to wait 6 months or go to Mexico to get it done -
