  1. I had my revision on Oct. 15. I have been on mushy soft foods going on my second week. I have been experiencing a sharp cramp on my left side after I eat. Does anyone know what this could be? Is it normal for this to happen right after surgery? I do not remember this happening when I had my first lapband. I am really worried that I may be doing something wrong because I have had to have this revision due to being too tight and I don't want to do anything to cause any problems this time around.

  2. I have a question. I have e-mailed my doctor and I am not getting any response so I thought I would ask here. I have been getting a series of fills and unfills for the last two years with no weight loss. My band has been dialated twice. Once this time last year and again about a month and a half ago. A few weeks ago I got a fill from my pouch being completely unfilled for about a month. He put in .07 which is all I can handle from a 3 cc pouch. I am experiencing heart burn in the morning. Could I be to tight? I am not throwing up or anything like that and I do feel some restriction. Has anyone else experienced not having a large amount in a 3 cc band other than me? From the begining I have not been able to hold more than maybe 1cc or less of Fluid in my band. Is this normal? I can't get an answer from my doctor. Is there anything esle I can do for my band?

  3. Here is my story. I have been banded since 2005. For the past two years or so I have been messing with being too tight. I think I need a fill, go get one and almost always have to have an unfill. A few months go by and I gradually get more put back in. I think the issue is, I am not sure when I need a fill. How do you know when you have found your sweet spot? I went in for a fill yesterday because I have been hungry and have been able to eat almost anything. A barium swallow showed total blockage . The band is in the correct place but its stretched. So now for the second time I have to be unfilled for a month or maybe even more and then I get to go to the process again. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong? I feel like a total failure. I have about 25 more pounds to lose and I am in this cycle of getting fills and unfills and dilated pouches.

  4. I am going to get a fill in two weeks after being completely unfilled for two months due to a dialated pouch. If I am still swollen when I go for my fill, I will have to get surgery to get it repositioned. My question is what is the process of repositioning a band? How long is the recovery time involved? I ask because I work full time and I can't be off work for a long time. Does anyone know how much this costs? I am not sure if my insurance will cover it because I know they don't cover any type of weight loss surgery, so I may have to finance it. I have also been reading about people that are going from 4cc bands to 10cc bands. Will that help keep you from slipping to go to a bigger band? I don't understand that part. Thanks in advance for your help!

  5. It's weird because on the occasions that I was too tight, I felt like I was fine the first couple of months. After about a week of choking and coughing at night, I had enough and went for an unfill. I am now finding out that you should not get too tight or wait too long if you are because I am on my second month of not being filled at all due to pouch dialation of being too tight and let me tell you it is not fun being hungry during the holidays. I may even have to get surgery to have it placed again if the swellling doesn't go down. Being too tight is NOT a good thing.

  6. I have the same problem. My doctor called it a pouch dilation. I was told it was from being too tight for too long. I kept feeling like I needed a fill, so I would go and get one and then two months later I would get night regurgitation , night reflux and coughing when laying down. I would go for an unfill and then I repeated the fill/unfill senerio about two more times before I realized that I needed to just quit getting fills. The last time I went for an unfill they did a barium swallow and there was complete blockage so I was completely unfilled for a month. I went in after a month for a fill which was this past Monday and I am still dilated and swollen. I wasn't following the rules while I was unfilled. I just thought that since I wasn't filled I could just take it easy and eat what I wanted as long as I didn't over do it. Big mistake!!!!!!!! I gained 7 pounds and my pouch did not get much better. Now I have to wait another 4 weeks and I have to measure my meals to have 6 1/2 cup meals a day. I hope that my pouch is not to far gone to where I will have to have surgery to correct it, but if so, it is my fault. I am listening this time and doing what I am told, I just hope that it isn't too late. It is also awesome being unfilled during the holidays. My fault though. :)

  7. I have trouble eating scrambled eggs also. No matter how much restriction I have, scrambled eggs just stay in my stomach pretty much half a day and makes me miserable. Deviled eggs on the other hand I have absolutely no problem with. I have never PB'd on them and they have never gotten stuck. The best way to tell is just to try them. There are days when I can eat certain things and other days I try to eat the same thing and cant. My band is very temperamental but I wouldn't trade it for the world!

  8. Will it hurt to do cardio and strength on alternating days? I was thinking of doing my bowflex on M W F and on Tues and Thursday my cardio. Will it hurt to do them on seperate days than to split them 30 cardio and 30 strength on the same day? I seem to stick better with it if I concentrate on strength only one day and the next cardio only. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! :wink2:

  9. Both my bowflex and my treadmill are by a TV and my computer which has I-Tunes so I don't have a problem there. Actually working out to videos is a good idea to change things up a bit. I just need to decide how many days a week I want to exercise and stick with it. I love this site because there are so many helpful people here. Thanks!

  10. Ok,

I was thinking of using my Bowflex for 30 min on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and on Tuesday and Thursday doing my treadmill for about 30-40 minutes. Any opinions on this? Should I do my cardio also with the strength? Thank you all for your suggestions so far. I see that everyone is different.

  11. Thanks for the advice. Should I do the cardio and strength all in one day or would it benefit me to do strength 3 days a week and maybe cardio 2? I don't have much time in the evenings and I find if I do both I get more bored, but I also don't want to seperate the two if it isn't going to help.

  12. I need some advice. I am almost three years out and about a year ago I hit a plateau and I keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds over again. I have a sneaking suspision that it is because my exercise routine has slacked. I used to go to Curves 3xs a week and was doing fine until I quit going because they closed two of the ones that I regularly went to and there wasn't any close ones near me anymore. I bought a bowflex and I have been struggling ever since to develop a routine that I can stick with. I am confused on if I should concentrate more on cardio or strength, for how long, how many days and all that stuff because I hear different things from different people. I only have about 15 more pounds to go, but like I said I keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds, and I feel if I worked out more regular I know it would probably come off. Does the 20 min workout on the bowflex 3 days a week actually work? I think part of myprobem is that I am also getting bored and I just am not motivated anymore. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  13. Rhonda,

I am so sorry for your troubles. I ended up having to get a unfill. That was the only thing for me that worked. Your band is warning you that you are too tight and if you don't get it unfilled a litte, it can lead to band slippage. As much as I hated to do it, my doctor told me this and I did what he said and got an unfill and it worked. I know it is awful to wake up like that and very discouraging, but if you get a small unfill and wait a while to give your band a break, you can get a fill later, that is what I did. I hope you feel better.

  14. I am also at a standstill. I quite losing weight over a year ago and have been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds! It is very frustrating, I only have about 15-20 pounds to go but I have pretty much given up. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I don't eat hardly any bread, Pasta, or rice. The carbs I do eat are REALLY bad for me but I have also cut down on that also. Should I be eating things like Oatmeal and rice? I am only supposed to get under 60 grams of carbs a day and 60-80 grams of Protein. The problem is, if you go higher on the Protein wouldn't your fat grams go higher? My dietician told me that I should keep fat under 25 grams, but if I do low carb, my fat grams will be higher. Help! I am so confused. Also, Oatmeal I know is good for you but has alot of carbs in it. I really need some knowledge on what I should be eating.

    Thanks

  15. Hello.

I was banded two and a half years ago. I was 105 pounds overweight. I started out at 248 and now weight 176. I have gained about 6 pounds since January due to being too loose. I just went for a fill a couple of weeks ago. The problem I am having is I just can't seem to lose these last twenty pounds. I stopped losing right around 165 pounds. I keep gaining and losing the same 5 or 6 pounds. I have slacked a little on my exercise, but I am back on it. Before I was rapidly losing 1-2 pounds a week the first year and a half even by not really going by the high Protein low carb rule because I was just not hungry. Now it seems that no matter what I do this weight is not moving. My dietician told me that I should have no more than 25 grams of fat and 60 or under grams of carbs. To me this is almost impossible, being that most low carb foods are high in fat. I cannot exercise 6 days a week because I work a full time job and I have two grade school kids that need my attention. Has anyone else been through this and what helped you lose those last few pounds?

  16. Thank you for your replies. I was thinking of Snapple also. Has anyone tried the Lipton Diet Peach tea mix? Does it taste the same as the ready to drink diet peach tea? I don't think that they discontinued the mix, just the ready to drink. But I will definately try the Snapple. :)
