  1. Yes. I have noticed it seems to make my mouth feel dry as well. Not. Sure why.
  2. I have my first appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. I have done of all of the pre-op testing etc to get to this point. Now I am nervous and wondering..what are the most important questions to ask tomorrow? Can anyone give me some good suggestions? Thanks for the help!

    Seriously On Cloud 9

Thanks for posting this. Your beginning stats are almost identical to mine. I started at 221. I have lost 10 lb and I am scheduled to meet with the surgeon on Dec 20th to discuss surgery and possibly a date. I continually ask myself "are you sure you should do this?" But I have become more and more sure of my decision over the last few weeks and you just helped seal the deal for me. I don't want to look back in 10 years and feel regretful that I did not take this opportunity to better my health and my life when I had the chance. Thanks for the words of encouragement!
  4. I worry about this too. I am 5'5" and weigh about 215 right now. i have hypertension and sleep apnea. i also have a family hx of cancer and hesrt disease. I have only told my husband and daughters (13 and 11). I haven't told my mom, sister or the in-laws yet but plan too. I want to be a little closer to actually having surgery before I tell them though. I am struggling with whether I want to tell anyone at work. I have a very close co-worker who is also over weight (obese) and I actually worry about how my decision might affect her. Will it make. Her feel bad or uncomfortable...
  5. Hi guys! My name is Liz. i am 38, i have 3 kids (13, 12, and 5) and my husband is in the AF. This is my first post on VSG talk. I have been lurking on here for about 3-4 months and finally decided to create an account. This summer some things happened that made me decide it was time to change my life. I had sleep apnea (and i was starting to feel the effects of it not being treated) and I was diagnosed with hypertension. I also realized on a camping trip with my family just how overweight and out of shape I was. My husband, kids and I went on a bike ride around the campground we were staying at. I quickly fell behind everyone and could not keep up. My heart was pounding out of my chest and I could barely breath. These things were my wake up call. I have struggled with my weight since high school (I'm 38). I have come to the realization (and accepted thr fact) that I am never going to be able to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off without some major help. So, in July I asked my PCM to put a referral in for me to see a bariatric surgeon. I went to the seminar in early August and have been working through all of the required appointments since then. I have pretty much gotten everything done. I have to lose 10lb before I can meet with the nurse coordinator ( I have 4 to go while I hope to get rid of in the next week or two). And then I can make an appointment to see the surgeon. I had hoped to have my surgery in December. However, I just found out one of the girls I work with is putting in her notice to leave at the end of November. I work in a small clinic and that leaves 2 of us to cover 5 days a week. I am nervous about this. I don't want to push off my surgery but I don't know how I can take off and leave my coworker there by herself (and I haven't told anyone at work that I am planning on having surgery). I would be ok with waiting until the first of January...but not really any later. Anyway, I just wanted to come on and introduce myself. I have already learned so much just reading all of the posts on here. I look forward to getting to know some of you : )
