Hi Reverie,
Yes, I do count calories. My intake is generally around 1200-1350.

Hi friends,
I was banded 3 years ago yesterday. About 2 years ago, I had slippage and had to have surgery to repair that. At one point, I had lost almost 100 pounds. In the last year, I have put 40 of those pounds back on. I'm so disgusted. None of my clothes fit, and my self-esteem has gone down the tubes. Now, the confusion part: I have restriction. I eat Protein, and I limit the bad carbs. I run 2 miles every other day. I know I could increase the exercise, but I don't think my eating habits are too bad, and I truly do feel I'm being honest with myself. I don't drink with meals. I'm going for yet another fill this afternoon because it seems like my only hope. I'm afraid I will be overfilled, but I'm not losing weight where I am now. In fact, I'm still gaining. I've been to a MD to see if there might be something else going on, but the tests haven't found anything.
The one thing I've identified is that I have a very difficult time eating slowly. I'm always in a rush, so any tips on how to slow down would be greatly appreciated.
Please help! I really need some advice. I don't know what to do. I don't want to put on one more pound, and I want to get those 40 back off.

Thank you so much, jshort! What does Dr. Malley charge for fills?
Hi I go to Dr. Malley off of Johnson Drive and Nall. He is the leading surgeon in KC and very good!

Hi,
I just moved to KC, and I am looking for a good place to get my fills. Can you please tell me where you get your fills and how much they cost?
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I am 1 1/2 months post-op and am having problems getting in my Protein. My problem with the powder mixes is not the taste, but the smell. I tried the unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I didn't notice a taste, but I could not get past the horrible smell and ended up sending it back for a refund. I don't notice the smell in the premade shakes, but I can't afford 2-3 of those a day. Any suggestions for a Protein Powder with no smell?
Thanks in advance!

Hi All,
My surgery was 9/11, so I'm two weeks post op. I am absolutely starving today! I'm on "normal" food, which my MD approved. I don't have my first fill until 10/6, and I don't want to gain back the 12 pounds I lost during my pre-op diet. Any suggestions?

I hate to be the bad news messenger, but if you can't handle being naked in front of a doctor who does not care about it and while you are knowcked out, maybe you are not mentally stable to get the band. have you had your shrink session already? maybe you can ask him/her thereWow - that was unnecessarily harsh. I too have worked in the medical field and have unfortunately dealt with less than professional MDs. They would never do anything disrespectul in front of a patient, but when taking with other staff members, they would say things that I definitely would not want said about me. And yes, I am talking about personal appearance issues, how "hot" or unhot someone was, etc. I am only hours away from surgery and a million things are running through my mind, and yes, being naked in front of a room full of people is one of those things!
That being said, I would like to sincerely thank all of you who responded kindly and supportively. I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

Why do you need to have your underwear off? It's not like they're doing any surgery "down there." Just the idea of being naked in front of all those people really disturbs me!
-
Are you completely naked during surgery? UGH - that's going to be a sad sight to see if that's the case!

Thank you all for your responses. This is such an awesome support group! I think I've identified that I am most afraid of the anesthesia, like the moment they give it to and I start going under... How is that? Do you remember any of it?

Hi everyone!
My surgery is tomorrow at 1:00, and I am totally freaking out! I'm at work and having a really tough time concentrating on anything but the surgery. The more I think about it, the more scared and anxious I get. Any words of wisdom from anyone? Canyou think of any last minute things I need to take care of before surgery? I think I need a pill!

Hi everyone -
I'm scheduled for surgery on 9/11. Should I be avoiding asprin, ibuprophen, etc? I have a cold and have been taking both. I don't remember my doctor saying anything about this, and there isn't any info in the paperwork I have.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi everyone!
I'm new to this site, although I have been lurking for about a week. I have had my initial consultation and have my surgery scheduled for Sept 11. I have about 100 pounds to lose.
Maybe I'm getting cold feet, but I really got to thinking about something. I need to know how this is going to be different from every other time I've lost weight, only to turn around and gain it all back. I lost 60 pounds doing Atkins about 1 1/2 years ago. I kept it off for 2 years, and then gained 80 pounds back in less than a year. :eek:I know that I need to change my lifestyle, and I am 100% committed to doing that. However, I was committed all the other times when I gained all the weight back. I just don't want to spend all that money if it's just another weight loss attempt. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Wow, betheboo, I could have written your post. I am going through the exact same thing. It scares me so much to go back to being fat that I am now bordering on being underweight. I know I have a problem and need help, but I don't even know where to start. Thanks for posting about this very difficult topic.
