    Milk of magnesia

Thank you! I will try that.
  3. You aren't a weirdo. That's for sure. I would say just try and learn how to take a compliment and mentally move on. Working with a therapist is a great start to figuring this out. And remember you don't owe anybody an explanation for how you lost if you don't want to tell them. That's your personal business. Good luck!

How do you know you're full?

I was sleeved on July 6th and the only way I can tell is that I get kind of a dull ache in my stomach. For a while I thought that was just gas pains but now I realize it's my signal to stop.
  5. There's no way I could walk that much right now! Wow... Impressive. Two of my inscions are still very tender but I feel a massive difference from even just yesterday. I get to add in more things to my diet tomorrow and I'm way excited about that. Still no poop..... Going to get that miralax going today.
  6. I get random grumbles in my stomach that I think might be hunger?? But I'm not really sure to be honest! I know that sounds crazy... Everything is all weird in there right now with gas bubbling around that I'm not sure what feelings are what.
  7. Here's my advice.... Lose weight. It's what you want for yourself anyway and it will shut her the hell up. In the meantime you either have to ignore her insulting comments or tell her woman to woman that you don't appreciate the things she says to you or your boyfriend about your wls.

    Sleeping

I was sleeved this past Monday the 6th and I'm still sleeping in a recliner. It's been such a help. Much easier to get in and out of and I can kind of turn on my side a little while keeping a pillow over my stomach to help with pain. I tried sleeping flat in bed and it was a nightmare... Then when I tried to sit up I was like a turtle stuck on its back lol.... So recliner for me until I can comfortably get back in bed.
  9. I've been sleeping in a recliner. I'm walking like an old lady too... Usually with a pillow to help hold everything down. I haven't pooped.. Which is kind of freaking me out but my dr has me on water, sf liquids, and broth... That's it. I'm not adding protein in for a while yet. It's a lot different from some of the other diets I've read about on here but I am trusting him and his team.
  10. I keep trying to remind myself of all the reasons I am doing this in the first place. Anybody else struggling today? I think I need to stay off FB because SO MANY BBQ PHOTOS!
  11. Sounds like you need to address your eating habits about how you plan on eating better now that you've gone through all this. You have to eat for fuel not taste.

    Today is the day

I'm in the waiting room as well.... Feeling the same way. Just ready to get it over with!
  13. Mine is on monday...its raining here too in Louisiana. I don't like fireworks so the only thing I am missing is the food and gatherings...oh well. Onward and upward! Next year I'll feel nice and cool in my shorts and sleeveless shirts Hey Girlonfire My surgery is 7/8/15. I'm on the East coast- weather is iffy so not really missing the fun. I did decide not to go to any parties though. Day 5 of the pre-surgery diet. Felt a bit hungry but hanging in.
  14. I found out yesterday that my dr intubates all his patients and also all his patients will have a drainage tube that will be taken out before I leave the hospital. I'm kind of nervous about this...granted I know I won't feel the actual intubation since I will be under when they do it but I already have a crazy sore throat from sinus drainage and to think that on monday I will have the added pain of that tube going down my throat...it worries me. One of the reasons I didn't go for the lap band was because the idea of something being inside me like that just skeeved me out....so the idea of the drainage tube skeeves me out too. From those that have gone before me......What was this like for you? I want to mentally prepare for what this will be like before I get there.

    Intubation and Drain Tubes

What does it feel like having the drain removed?

Get back into pictures without feeling the need to hide in the back.
  17. Yesterday on day 4 of my 7 day pre op I had a can of tuna for lunch and one for dinner....I'm only supposed to have Protein bars and shakes and Soup mixes...all given to me by my surgeons office. I haven't been able to choke down some of the shakes because they are just too sweet. I don't have a sweet tooth at all. So I have been literally starving...stomach pains/growling/feeling light headed...the whole thing. I figured tuna in Water would fill me up because of the protein and there aren't any carbs so I did it....I cheated...but I was able to sleep all night without waking with hunger pains and like I said...I had not been getting those calories/protien from the snack shakes/puddings. Now that I am very very close to surgery though I will just have to do my best and not stray from the diet. I'd rather be hungry or force myself to eat that disgusting pudding at this point than do something that will cause me harm during surgery.
  18. 10 lbs in 4 days... I just went back to the dr to finish off all the hospital paperwork and when they weighed me I was stunned.

    Discussions with PCP about WLS

Mine reacted the same way when I talked to her about it. You have to do your research for sure. Thing is...I feel like my surgeon has a better understanding about the disease of obesity than my PCP does. Some people need that extra help of the sleeve but I do understand that it isn't a fix all.

    Psych eval?

The first time I had mine done I went through someone my surgeon's office recommended. She was a psychologist. She asked about my eating habits and we talked about the mental aspect of my eating. She said I needed to watch out for depression creeping in because it was something I had experienced before. I was scared that would derail my progress but that wasn't the case. Then my insurance denied me for other stupid reasons so when I decided years later to try again I went to a woman that was a certified counselor but not a psychologist. Repeat of the first visit basically with questions and that was it.
  21. "I'm hungry and grumpy as hell, but your words are filling me up". That literally made me tear up. This is the sweetest post ever, Thank you SO much. There are days I struggle and it's posts like this and messages like this that i receive that keep me going on the straight and narrow. Hang in there. You are definitely in the hardest part. In a good month or so you are going to be on the other side of it, feeling good, and dropping the weight like you wouldn't believe. Just stick to the plan and do the hard emotional work that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge. I meant every word! I hope to be as real about my journey as you have been... And have the same success that you've had as well. Xoxox
  22. Whew! Glad to hear it's nothing bad.
  23. I'm reading your blog... From the start... And I have to say that you can put a little check mark next to your bucket list item of helping others in the same situation. I'm currently on day 2 of my 7 day pre op diet, hungry and grumpy as hell, but your words are filling me up. While I'm still scared about the actual surgery and the recovery afterwards (Pain! Nooooooo) your blog gives me hope that everything will be alright if I take care of me and do what I need to do in order to get healthy. Thank you so much for sharing. Back to reading... I'm on your post op month 9 and I just added your book recommendation to my goodreads list. ????
  24. Has anyone started buying clothing in smaller sizes already? I know there is no way to know how long you will be in any particular size but I wonder if it's smart to start looking for sales/thrift finds now so it's not so much money spent all at once later?
  25. Wow!!!!! You are so tiny now! Thank you for the inspiration.
