  1. The Only thing I would question is are you a man or a woman?? because it sounds like you are a woman, but the picture looks like a mans body ( unless as a woman you are ok with showing your boobies on the internet).
  2. SO sorry to hear you are in pain. Your Dr. sounds a little insensitive. I grew up in Virginia beach, but I live in Richmond now. Hopefully I will have my surgery in the middle of March.
  3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give up. Call and talk to your insurance company. If that does not work, look up other options (like Mexico). Whatever you do..don't give up!
  4. My isurance does not require a 3/6 month diet plan or history of weight. I have Anthem BCBS of Virginia.
  5. I am in the same boat. My initial consultation is on Jan.10th. My BMI fell below 40 and I do not have any Co-morbidities. So I am gaining a little weight before the surgery, wearing my thickest clothes and heavy jewelry if I can find it. Hahahhahah I hate the idea of purposely trying to gain weight but, It's either that or pay 8K out of pocket and fly to Mexico.
  6. I won't miss...... *My pants having holes in the thighs due to them rubbing together. *That wonderful musical that my thighs like to play when I am wearing certain pants ( I work in a quiet office environment so it's embarrassing). *My lack of a sex drive *Never scheduling vacations at the beach, because the thought of my thighs exposed makes me cringe.
  7. Great Job!!!!!! I loved your story.
  8. I felt the same way when I went to my class. I was at a 37 now at 40.3 ( i gained 9 pounds to have the surgery, but thats another story). I kept asking myself if this is the best choice for me. But then I thought back to all the times I have tried and failed. I also thought that I want to stop this before I get to that point. But it is a personal decision.
  9. Hahah I'm not sensative in the least. I want to encourage and support people not scold them and make them feel shameful. That is why I am on this forum. But if you think scolding and belittling is effective then by all means go ahead. You are right, this is a public forum.
  10. Although I would not condone cheating I do understand that we are Human. As humans we are prone to mistakes. These mistakes can be learning experiences. If you took a bite, that's fine just make sure you think it through next time. I don't like this attitude that some people have about making people feel horrible about their decisions. Don't you remember how it felt to have someone skinny say "you are killing yourself, just stop eating and exercise". Skinny people can not possibly understand why we would ever risk being overweight because obesity related conditions kill people everyday. We all have to find out for ourselves. We all have to take the steps to a better path. Sometimes you stray but hey as long as you learn from it, it's ok. It also Irks me when people say "I can't believe you would........................." Well you are not me and there are probably a ton of things I can't believe you would do either.
  11. Thank you so much for sharing you story Dave. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted!
  12. Amazing! I am so happy for you.
  13. I'm so excited for you! Good luck.
  14. You look 10 years younger!!!!!! Congrats!
  15. Is that a picture of him? Wow he is a cutie!!! I'm so glad everything went well.
  16. I know exactly what you are going through. I have to pay 20%, but no one seems to be able to tell me how much everything is going to cost. My deductable is 3,000 and my out of pocket max is 8,000. Sure I will be able to pay a couple of thousand, but if it’s up to the 8K then I'm not going to able to afford it right now. I wrote an email to the coordinator asking for a rough estimate but she is just pushing me to come in for an appointment. I don't want to start the process until I am exactly sure of what the costs are going to be. My BF had it done, she is 3 weeks out and she still doesn’t know how much it is going to cost her. I almost wish they had a package. Haha My company switched the insurance last year so I am completely new to this deductible and out of pocket max thing. So if I meet my deductible then all I have left is 5K of out of pocket max?? I thought it was all included together (11K).
  17. I live in Richmond and I am in the early stages of getting my approval for the Sleeve. Where are you getting yours done? St. Mary's or MCV??
  18. Wow that's amazing!! I wish that was my only out of pocket amount. I have BCBS of Virginia.
  19. Hello everyone I'm brand new here (well I 've been lurking for about a month). My insurance company pays for 80% of my surgery and I am in charge of the other 20. I was wondering if more of you could share what the cost of your surgery was (after the discounts). Thanks for any information.
  20. Hi I'm new here also and I have not been sleeved yet, but it seems to me that you are not getting enough protein. I still think that your weight loss is great and it's nothing to be concerned about.
