Three months pre-op and new to this site! :)
I have shared with a few people what I'm doing and what shocked me was one of the people who I thought would be the most supportive was the most negative. She kept telling me to just "try harder" and not to do this to myself, that it would just make me more unhealthy. Luckily I was able to point out to her that it was funny she would talk to me about health while holding her cigarette! But there has also been the other side, people I was reluctant to tell who have been my biggest cheerleaders throughout my pre-op journey. They have never failed to be there to help me when I started doubting myself. Now, I'm 3 days from surgery (May13th) and I can't wait. You have to decide for you whether this is the right journey but we (fellows travelers) are here on the site to try to share our stories to help out.

In need of friends/buddies for this new journey
Welcome to all! I wish you all great luck on this journey. I began mine back in Nov when I went to my first seminar and now my surgery is Monday May 13th. This site has been a total blessing to me, anytime I'm filling insecure I know my fellow sleevers have my back. They've even kicked me in the butt a couple of times when I was filling unsure. I haven't done as well on my pre-op as I thought I would but I'm down a little weight and so excited to get my sleeve and begin my new life

Excited!
Good Luck! I go Monday and can't wait. I wish you all the good luck and happy thoughts

What exercises did you start/how soon after sleeve?
thanks everyone, I get my sleeve on May 13th and am so excited, a little scared since I've never had surgery but I have a high tolerance for pain (having 5 older brothers will do that for you ) so I'm hoping I can walk right away

Yesterday was a year since my surgery!
You look awesome! Great job

What exercises did you start/how soon after sleeve?
hello all! I'm hoping some of you can tell me what type of exercises and how soon after being sleeved you started? I'm really wanting to do a 180 in my life and live it happier and healthier with a goal of running marathons and triathlons (did 1/2 marathon last year but very very slowly..lol)

Scheduled finally May 13th!
I am so happy and excited, I finally have gotten everything done and my surgery is scheduled for May 13th! Any advice for the next few weeks before surgery? My doctor said I had lost enough weight so he isn't requiring a pre-op diet but I was thinking of doing at least a week of the liquids just because I have seen alot of people on here saying it helps in the surgery and recovery.

Starting my Journey!
Congrats to both of you starting this journey. I am now through my supervised diet and have been approved for surgery. I have my pre surgical testing then hopefully will have the surgery on May 6th. It seemed long during the journey but all of it will be worth it. Good Luck!

Approved!
I got word from Aetna that I am approved after only 6 days! I was worried it would take alot longer or something would be wrong. Now, next Tuesday 16th I have my pre surgery testing, upper GI, EKG, bloodwork and Xray. If all of those come back fine, I will finally be scheduled for surgery. I'm hoping for the week of May 6th or 13th. I started this journey in November of last year with an information session at the South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center in Ocean Springs. Everyone there has been remarkable. I'm so excited but also terrified, the surgery is real now, if that makes any sense.

Extremely Nervous
We have similar stats, I am 41 also, highest weight was 305 and currently at 271 after losing a little bit in my 3 month journey heading towards surgery. I was one who always said there was no way I would do a weight loss surgery and it was coming across information on the sleeve that changed my mind. I really like that they remove the stomach but leave your digestive system alone that always really freaked me out. At 41, I think I am at an age where I'm not doing this for anyone but me. I did a half marathon (walked of course) and remember being so proud of myself crossing that finish line. That now, is my motivation. I want to do races, small long all different kinds. So, when I get freaked out about why I am doing this, I close my eyes and picture that finish line. I love this site because you do hear the good, bad and ugly of the surgery. My information is currently at Aetna awaiting approval, and I really hope to be scheduled soon. Whatever you decide, good luck on your journey!

In insurance hands now
finally at the end of 3 months of insurance requirements, so just waiting on insurance. After that, pre surgery testing and then scheduled finally! I can't wait, I am going crazy to know if I'm approved already and I just had my last appt. Wednesday...I hope it doesn't take to long
