This is an AWESOME post!! I wish I had been able to read something like this before I had surgery.
One question that I get asked a lot by potential sleevers is "Does the sleeve stretch out?" Everyone is familiar with stories of how the pouch on an RNY patient can stretch out significantly over time. In my research and understanding, the answer on whether or not a sleeve can stretch out is "possibly, but very little." We can be at risk for gaining weight if we graze all day or discover a "slider food" and eat that excessively, but we should have good restriction for life if we stick to the basic rules of sleeve-eating.

This probably isn't a great thing for me to tell you, but at the time I book my surgery, they were able to get me in 5 days later. I cut back on some things, but I really didn't do much of a pre-op diet. Nothing to eat or drink though past 10pm the night before and I was all good. No complications and am feeling great and will be 3 weeks out tomorrow. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did and I am being a VERY good girl post op

When is your surgery? How long do you have to do the pre-op diet for? Mine was 2 weeks of liquids. I did cheat, around day 5, I had a few tb of Peanut Butter, and a few pieces of deli ham. But I still had 9 days after that to do liquids. I promise the pre-op liquid diet is much harder than the eating after surgery! It was the worst part! As far as your Dr, it depends. Mine didn't care, as long as you lost weight prior to surgery, he didn't care. they didn't even weigh me on the day of surgery! But I have heard of some drs that if you don't lose weight, they will cancel the surgery. Basically its about shrinking your liver. The more fat that is around your liver, the tougher the surgery is to do. So sticking to the diet makes the surgery safer for you, which is what you want. Stick with it, you can do it! I know its hard, but it will be over soon, and the cravings after surgery are gone.
