  1. December 10th! My birthday!
  2. I'm in Fort Smith Arkansas, but that's literally 3 miles from the OK stateline. I'm using Dr. Roller in Fayetteville AR.
  3. Thank you all so much. I have researched for SEVEN years and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I've chosen the best surgeon possible. His practice is a bariatric center of excellence and he fellowship trained for bariatric surgery for 2 years at Duke university. So I'm good there. It's just my crazy anxiety. (I take meds for it... it's out of hand) Good thing I told my husband back before I got scared "Look, I'm going to freak out at some point... I don't know when, but do NOT let me back out" and so far he isn't.
  4. Hey everyone, I could use a little encouragement. I'm self-pay and have been flying through the process to have the gastric sleeve. I was totally jazzed and not scared at all. Skip to Friday when I meet with the surgeon and he tells me that my BMI is too high for the sleeve and he really suggests the RNY. We discussed it at great length and I KNOW he's right. I KNOW he is. But I'm starting to second guess surgery all together. I'm mostly afraid of complications and death. But I"m also afraid of dying from a heart attack in my 30's due to my weight. So yeah. Just having an off day and need some encouragement. Also, as a side note.... the Bariatric Advantage pre-op Vitamins are TEARING up my stomach, anyone else?
  5. I'm curious what you mean by not getting enough milk. Are you pumping? Do you plan to breastfeed exclusively? All of the advice that's been give was excellent... Especially about Kellymom.com being a good resource.
  6. Anyone ever get them? They drive me insane!! I've had EKGs and 2 echos come back normal. Doc says I'm fine, yet I still have them. And I'm worried surgery is going to make them worse.
  7. I had this three times in the two days after my last c-section. It was terrifying! For me it ended up being because of blood loss. I felt much better after a transfusion.
  8. How far post-op are you?
  9. Does the 35k include boob implants? I'm actually looking forward to plastics on my future. I've never had great boobs.
  10. She's doing well now but really putting on weight with the steroids. I worry about the long term affects that will have on her back. I don't know how to restrict her diet any more than we already do. She gets 1/4 cup morning and night. But she often leaves some of that untouched.
  11. I almost lost my doxie last month. She isn't even two yet, but apparently has immune mediated thrombocytopenia. She had zero clotting factor and starting bruising everywhere and bleeding from every orfice. One amazing vet, 2 weeks hospitalization, and a couple thousand dollars later and she's in remission.
  12. Proti 15 by bariatrix has a hot chocolate and latte flavored drink. 15g of protein for 8oz mixed with water.
  13. Losing 100lbs = century So obvious, I'm an idiot! Lol
  14. This terrifies me more than loose skin. I've been trying to grow my hair out, but apparently that won't be happening. what exactly about the surgery/weightloss causes the hair loss ?
  15. I agree with iggychik and doxie. None of this is based on scientific research or sound medical advice.
  16. Are they usually talking about a two week period? During the preop liquids? Or does this number usually mean they've been dieting for a while? Just curious what I can expect to lose in the 2 week preop diet.
  17. Congrats ! My date should be somewhere right around yours. Good luck to you on this adventure!
  18. Hey Twista! I find out my date on the 16th and should get sleeved mid December, we can be sleeve buddies!
  19. Wow. I just spent half my life reading this entire thread. I feel like I know you! lol I'm soooooooo glad you're all healed up, losing weight, looking great, and most importantly living a NORMAL life. Thank you for sharing this experience. I still intend to get sleeved, this didn't scare me off, but if I do experience a leak at least I know what the road ahead will look like. Thank you again and God bless.
  20. tjohnston, maybe we can meet up in Disney one day! I went to seminar last night, got my care-credit upped last night, and set my appointment for next Friday for all pre-op testing. This is moving along quite fast and I'm EXCITED!!!!!
  21. I loved reading this positive post about your experience! Now that's I've chosen a surgeon, gotten the money together, and am actually doing this I'm getting a little nervous too. But I'm praying for an experience similar to yours. Good luck to you on the rest of your adventure!
  22. I'm tentative Dec! Hoping for the 10th... That's my birthday!
  23. I had my first meeting with my surgical team AND got approved for a higher amount of carecredit which means I'm getting sleeved!!!! They said they'll be able to do it my first week of Christmas break like i wanted! I'm sooooo happy!
  24. I'm 5'1 and I think I'm going to buy my goal outfit in a size 8 or 10. Shoot for the stars, right?!
