    Caltrete Gummies

I think the gummies have half as much calcium as the chewables if I remember correctly. That's how it is with the bariatric advantage brand anyhow. Only 250g in the gummies and the chewables are 500g. I think the chewables are tearing up my stomach though. (I"m pre-op)
  2. You all are saying exactly the things I needed to hear! If nothing else, I"ve gotten 100x more support here than I did on Lap-band talk (a few years and several pounds ago) or Vertical Sleeve Talk! I definitely just need to pray and hand it over to God. NorthwestBeauty, I LOVE the scripture in your signature, how perfect for my situation!
  3. December 10th! My birthday!
  4. I'm in Fort Smith Arkansas, but that's literally 3 miles from the OK stateline. I'm using Dr. Roller in Fayetteville AR.
  5. Thank you all so much. I have researched for SEVEN years and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I've chosen the best surgeon possible. His practice is a bariatric center of excellence and he fellowship trained for bariatric surgery for 2 years at Duke university. So I'm good there. It's just my crazy anxiety. (I take meds for it... it's out of hand) Good thing I told my husband back before I got scared "Look, I'm going to freak out at some point... I don't know when, but do NOT let me back out" and so far he isn't.
  6. I'm curious what you mean by not getting enough milk. Are you pumping? Do you plan to breastfeed exclusively? All of the advice that's been give was excellent... Especially about Kellymom.com being a good resource.
  7. I had this three times in the two days after my last c-section. It was terrifying! For me it ended up being because of blood loss. I felt much better after a transfusion.
  8. Are they usually talking about a two week period? During the preop liquids? Or does this number usually mean they've been dieting for a while? Just curious what I can expect to lose in the 2 week preop diet.
  9. I had my first meeting with my surgical team AND got approved for a higher amount of carecredit which means I'm getting sleeved!!!! They said they'll be able to do it my first week of Christmas break like i wanted! I'm sooooo happy!

    Hair & Dogs

She's doing well now but really putting on weight with the steroids. I worry about the long term affects that will have on her back. I don't know how to restrict her diet any more than we already do. She gets 1/4 cup morning and night. But she often leaves some of that untouched.

    Hair & Dogs

I almost lost my doxie last month. She isn't even two yet, but apparently has immune mediated thrombocytopenia. She had zero clotting factor and starting bruising everywhere and bleeding from every orfice. One amazing vet, 2 weeks hospitalization, and a couple thousand dollars later and she's in remission.

    Hair & Dogs

This terrifies me more than loose skin. I've been trying to grow my hair out, but apparently that won't be happening. what exactly about the surgery/weightloss causes the hair loss ?
  18. I agree with iggychik and doxie. None of this is based on scientific research or sound medical advice.

    Got My Surgery Date!

Congrats ! My date should be somewhere right around yours. Good luck to you on this adventure!
  20. Hey Twista! I find out my date on the 16th and should get sleeved mid December, we can be sleeve buddies!
  21. Wow. I just spent half my life reading this entire thread. I feel like I know you! lol I'm soooooooo glad you're all healed up, losing weight, looking great, and most importantly living a NORMAL life. Thank you for sharing this experience. I still intend to get sleeved, this didn't scare me off, but if I do experience a leak at least I know what the road ahead will look like. Thank you again and God bless.
  22. tjohnston, maybe we can meet up in Disney one day! I went to seminar last night, got my care-credit upped last night, and set my appointment for next Friday for all pre-op testing. This is moving along quite fast and I'm EXCITED!!!!!
  23. Hello VST community! I've been stalking you for a while and thought it was time for me to actually start participating. I'm a self-pay patient currently in the process of choosing a surgeon and a procedure. I'm about 99% sold on the sleeve. I actually learned about it on Lap Band Talk after seeing so many people revising to the sleeve due to complications or failure to lose adequate weight. My mother had lapband 2 years ago and is still morbidly obese, but she had to have a complete unfill to fight cancer the past 18 months. While I've been to a number or seminars through the years, I'm going to one on Thursday to check out a particular surgeon. Fingers crossed that I just love them and can afford them. Anyhow, I want to lose weight to be an active and involved parent and a healthier person. I don't aspire to be a super model or ever wear a bikini.... just to live to see my grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    2 Days Post, Sureal

I loved reading this positive post about your experience! Now that's I've chosen a surgeon, gotten the money together, and am actually doing this I'm getting a little nervous too. But I'm praying for an experience similar to yours. Good luck to you on the rest of your adventure!
