  1. I'm a week and four days out of surgery and my incision sites are extremely itchy and I get so scared to sneeze because its so painful and I feel like my stomach is going to burst.

Sleeved last Monday. Sneezing is so hard. I keep a pillow close and try to grab it. Coughing is hard. I have drains and I don't think that helps my discomfort.

  2. My BMI is 30 .. 5'6 190lbs .... If I hear just eat less or workout more ... I might punch them ... I'm looking at Mexico in may ... Fingers crossed

I was 30.5 when I decided to get sleeved. I'm older and my poor genetics seem to be following my dad's. SO I wanted to stop it before it got worst. BP/Joints/ Cholesterol/Liver stuff :( . I got sleeved Monday. Had a esophgeal hernia fixed too. But, anyway keep us updated!.

  3. Hey guys, I was sleeved on January 16th and have not had any problems. Today I made the mistake of forgetting about my situation and drank 3 big gulps of Water and immediately afterwards I had this pain in my chest so sharp it felt like I was choking and couldn't breath for about 3-5 minutes. Maybe after 5 minutes I let out a big burp and the pain went away. Now I know why they say don't gulp sip. Has anyone else had this problem? And when will it stop doing that?

I was just sleeved the 11th-but my coordinator called today and we talked about that. She says "that is the sensation or discomfort post gulping." To quote her "sip-sip-sip."

  4. I was sleeved on the 4th of march. I'm getting more fluids in but not much Protein. Yesterday was the first time I felt nauseous from eating. I tried scram of broccoli and two spoons down and my stomach was not happy. So I'm sticking to the broths.

I am not getting my protein in either. Sleeved the 11th. Do better with straight Water. The protein I bought before this-tasted ok then--but now it makes me gag. I hope to find something that tasted ok.

  5. So jealous you have your drain out!!!! I was sleeved march 5th and I'm doing great except for the drain! Go back to the drs Thursday so I hope it comes out then!

I was sleeved the 11th--I am home today-with drains. I'm suppose to call daily with drain amounts. Still have several ccs coming out of one of them. They are uncomfortable--

  6. Isn't our God an awesome God!!! I'm so very glad you shared your story, very informative, but it also shows Gods work. Normally hearing a story like that would scare me (I'm just starting this journey) but it has given me more faith; to hear how He's healing you. : )

Ann you are so right. Stories are not meant to scare but to help, reflect and to put somethings into perspective for others.

Thanks Diva Nurse and Towanda for letting us know your stories. Your stories just serve to remind us not to take anything for granted. Hope all are on the mend. Thank you for sharing.

  7. I am 4 1/2 weeks out. Started soft foods this week. I am having issues figuring out what the right quantity is for soft food. I think it is around a 1/2 cup of food, but it seems to vary a bit by the type of food. My biggest issue is that I travel for work and stay in a hotel M-F. Thus, I don't have easy access to a measuring cup and I haven't figured out how to estimate quanities. The other problem is that I can't figure out the quantity or type of food to eat at night that lets me sleep through the night. Most nights I wake up at 2:30 / 3 am needing food or I can't get back to sleep.< /p>

I weigh in on the weekends but seem to be losing a steady 3-4 lbs a week.

    Mary

I travel with my job. While I just started my preop diet-I realized early I WILL have the same problem you are having with measuring. I found 2 ounce plastic disposable "Gelatin shot-cups" at a "Party Stop." I plan to pack several them with me.

  8. Mine is scheduled in March. BUT--I am with you. One minute excited-the next thinking about everything that can go wrong.

Jeannine-Toradol is a good pain medication given for a short time. (I had kidney stones-and it worked wonderfully) Toradol is an NSAID too-without the other side effects as :

NSAIDs-Ibuprofen, naproxen, ASA-with increase bleeding potential. The docs usually have you stop those 2 weeks prior and for a period of time postop. They can also increase-heartburn GI problems too

You've warned your doctor about the Dilaudid--now tell your preop nurse and reinterate with your anesthesia doctor!
