Does Anybody Blog Their Journey?
I am still pre op but I blog on tumblr and follow some vsg and other WLS bloggers. I am mybodytoobootylicous at tumblr. I also have a blog here at VSTalk but a bit of the same info in both places.

Dumb Question Time- When Can I Drive, Post Op?
My surgeon's paperwork doesn't say anything about driving. He just says some people with office jobs feel good enough to return to work within a week or so. My friend had abdominal lap surgery(not WLS, cyst removal) and she was told two weeks. Of course she thought it was odd that our surgeons want us up and walking within days after surgery, but I couldn't seem to convince her that it will be a completely different experience. It seems like most people are up and around within the week post surgery. Just wondering when it was comfortable for you to drive? My surgery is Dec 21. I return home Dec 23rd. I will have a ride home from the airport. Past that, I plan to plant my rear for at least a week but I am SURE I will be going crazy after that! I'm also concerned about returning to work post op. My commute is 45 minutes but I'll be JUST under two weeks out when I go back to work. I'm an executive assistant so I sit all day, with bouts of walking to and from the printer or the break room. So how soon post op were you able to drive?

Im A Little Obsessive About Surgery Prep:
Oh I am already there. I start every vsg comment with [ boring conversation ],Thankfully my bestie wants to talk about it ALL THE TIME and my mother had RNY a long while ago so I have two experts in my life, as well as a separate community of people who've had the surgery. My friends who have no idea about anything WLS related are fascinated! I heard the protein bullets were really sweet so I decided to try ONE post surgery and see if I could stand it. I don't like super sweet things NOW so heaven knows how I'll feel after the surgery. I also couldn't bring myself to buy small bows and spoons. We'll see if i think it would help after surgery. Bestie has a cabinet full of stuff she didn't like post surgery so I don't want to go through that. I'll keep it simple and see what I feel like being adventurous about once Jelly (I've named my sleeve) makes her appearance.

Im A Little Obsessive About Surgery Prep:
I read here that a binder was a great thing to have, as well as a heating pad. Nice support for your abs, especially with sitting up and laying down. I want to get some of those big heating pads people buy for back or neck pain. The heating pad, I hear, is great to keep your muscles from tightening up? I thought I got one but I haven't seen it show up yet so.. ? Lol.

I Think I Am Going To Get Rid Of My Scales
Yes scales. I have two. One is to double check the other in case it's off. So, I have been stalking the post op forums and there is so much angst over ONLY having lost an awesome number of pounds in a very short time. I know myself and I am sure I could get very obsessed about the numbers, especially if they aren't going to drop like I want them to. My body does not like to subscribe to my goals. I'll get close to a goal by a certain point and then gain 3 lbs. I feel like what I want to focus on after surgery is being able to fit into clothes I can't wear right now. Feeling good, being healthy, being able to exercise without pain. I don't want to focus on the numbers because I know I will obsess. Maybe I will just take them downstairs........... 27 days from today. WOW.

The pitcher is an electric kettle (like a hotpot) the Mr coffee thing are those coffee cup warmers. I am quite sure I won't feel like running up and down the stairs after surgery so I'll have things upstairs to make life easy. I have a microwave up here and with the electric kettle I'll be able to make hot Water for

Im A Little Obsessive About Surgery Prep:

Still Hungry
Dr Alvarez from Endobariatrics does a great on this. It is most likely stomach acid making you feel like you're hungry. Ask your surgeon, but he recommends Prilosec, Zantac or other OTC medications over something like TUMS.

Didn't Like The Bariactric Advantage, Ideas?
The only ones I can drink are the Atkins Shakes... There's a chocolate one and a wild berry. They are not thick nor are they overly sweet and have a pretty good protein count.

My Mom Is Trying To Talk Me Out Of Surgery
Yes I eat my feelings. Stress tastes like burgers and pizza and steak and fries. Happiness tastes like hostess cakes. I also binge, because food is going out of style, right? Right? No? Crap. This tool is going to be so effective. We're not going to be able to do that, now. My friend suggested to get a little bit of couch time... might help us deal with some of the stress of not being able to run to food. You will either find another outlet or a way to eat around the surgery-- slider foods, etc.

Please God!
My concern is knowing that those same men turned their nose up at me when I was over a certain # of lbs... so when I am thinner, I am supposed to forget all that and be interested in them because they're paying attention now? Not so much. I will not be giving anyone that I "used to know" the time of day. I know, I am bitter. And I will probably be too busy having all of the fun to even notice......but know that fat girls/boys might always be fat inside. We remember that stuff. We might forgive but we will never forget.

Good, Good Weekend!
I’ve been spending the last few weeks getting things bought and prepped for post op. I need to have things set up in my room so that I don’t have to constantly go down the stairs for things. This weekend I bought the last of the vitamins on my doc’s list, so they’ll be here waiting for me when I get home. I got some clear liquids, some unjury, and still really need to get more, I think but I am going to take inventory before I leave and see what I still need. The best part is my bestie and I talking about Jelly like she is a real person, LOL. And we don’t think it’s weird. We are weird. 32 days to surgery! w00t! 22 days to the liquid diet…OYYYYY. I might do a few extra days, we’ll see. I oddly enjoy them. I get so stressed out thinking about food. It’s easier for me to just plan out a number of protein grams I am going to drink, set that aside and pick and choose from that small grouping of things. I have soups and shakes and broths… I’m good.

- Please God!
Yeah I know someone that lost a lot of weight and now comments on how other people are fat/have double chins, etc and maybe they should work out. Really? Weren't you just crying a few months go because you couldn't wear anything in your closet? I also knew a girl that called herself a hottie at every opportunity. "I guess I was a little hottie under all that fat." And she wasn't really all that hot. - Please God!
