    Still Hungry

Dr Alvarez from Endobariatrics does a great on this. It is most likely stomach acid making you feel like you're hungry. Ask your surgeon, but he recommends Prilosec, Zantac or other OTC medications over something like TUMS.
  4. The only ones I can drink are the Atkins Shakes... There's a chocolate one and a wild berry. They are not thick nor are they overly sweet and have a pretty good protein count.

    One Week Out

NICE. Congrats! I'm stalking the post op forums cause I want to know exactly what post op feels like!
  10. My mom is excited about my surgery. She does NOT want me to go to Mexico.
  11. Yes I eat my feelings. Stress tastes like burgers and pizza and steak and fries. Happiness tastes like hostess cakes. I also binge, because food is going out of style, right? Right? No? Crap. This tool is going to be so effective. We're not going to be able to do that, now. My friend suggested to get a little bit of couch time... might help us deal with some of the stress of not being able to run to food. You will either find another outlet or a way to eat around the surgery-- slider foods, etc.

    Please God!

My concern is knowing that those same men turned their nose up at me when I was over a certain # of lbs... so when I am thinner, I am supposed to forget all that and be interested in them because they're paying attention now? Not so much. I will not be giving anyone that I "used to know" the time of day. I know, I am bitter. And I will probably be too busy having all of the fun to even notice......but know that fat girls/boys might always be fat inside. We remember that stuff. We might forgive but we will never forget.
  13. I keep thinking I should eat X because in X days I won't be able to have it for awhile

    Good, Good Weekend!

I’ve been spending the last few weeks getting things bought and prepped for post op. I need to have things set up in my room so that I don’t have to constantly go down the stairs for things. This weekend I bought the last of the vitamins on my doc’s list, so they’ll be here waiting for me when I get home. I got some clear liquids, some unjury, and still really need to get more, I think but I am going to take inventory before I leave and see what I still need. The best part is my bestie and I talking about Jelly like she is a real person, LOL. And we don’t think it’s weird. We are weird. 32 days to surgery! w00t! 22 days to the liquid diet…OYYYYY. I might do a few extra days, we’ll see. I oddly enjoy them. I get so stressed out thinking about food. It’s easier for me to just plan out a number of protein grams I am going to drink, set that aside and pick and choose from that small grouping of things. I have soups and shakes and broths… I’m good.

    Please God!

Yeah I know someone that lost a lot of weight and now comments on how other people are fat/have double chins, etc and maybe they should work out. Really? Weren't you just crying a few months go because you couldn't wear anything in your closet? I also knew a girl that called herself a hottie at every opportunity. "I guess I was a little hottie under all that fat." And she wasn't really all that hot.

LOL I don't see that happening.
  19. My mother had RNY a very long time ago. My dad was SCARED. TO. DEATH for her... so he was mean about the surgery and kind of unsupportive. So my mom had her friend go with her and wouldn't allow him to even come and see her at the hospital. Once she came out and everything was fine, he loosened up. He sounds afraid, so does your mother.. it's major surgery and although they are rare, there can be complications. The thing is that yeah... you are doing this for you. They don't have a choice but to be there for you because they love you. If you have to, take a cab to the hospital but have someone there who won't be yelling at you before and after surgery. You need a kind, smiling face to wake up to. If you could really do it on your own, you would have. If anyone thinks going through this process, the surgery, the post op routine, the months of WORK that is involved in being a WLS patient, is easy, they are welcome to it. If it was the easy way, it would be a heckuva lot easier to get approved, wouldn't it?

Has Anyone Tried Dream Fields Pasta Before?

I love Dreamfields! It is a low(er) carb option than regular white flour pasta but it's not TERRIBLY lower. it's not like it has no carbs or anything... It didn't make me GAIN weight but I didn't lose weight eating it either. Great for a maintenance phase or when you feel like being bad but don't want to have to spend the next WEEk trying to get back to where you were before you decided you could eat white flour.

    Did It!

Excellent! Thanks for sharing your experience! Looking forward to my procedure.

    Shopping

Yeah Ive stopped buying clothes. I've put some stuff away but not much. I figure there are a lot of things I can probably still wear for awhile, at least a month after surgery. I have convinced myself that I will be the only person to not lose weight, so I'm leery about getting rid of anything.

Another Bad Night! What The Heck?

The surgery makes many people lactose intolerant. Also be aware of a bit of dairy in creamy tomato soup.

    No More Gum Or Popcorn?

I'll have to ask my doc about it. I have a bad breath phobia, I always have gum in I would give up popcorn before I give up gum!

    Dr. Joya?

I had a friend that went to Dr Joya for her lapband and then again her her revision to RNY. She can't say enough good things about him, his staff and the facility.
