  1. I am totally tired of the pre-op diet but I just keep reminding myself each moment of why i am doing this. I also had a great conversation this evening with a colleague who is a gastroenterologist surgeon. I very much trust his opinion and thoughts as a friend and colleague. I wondered if this pre-op diet truly made a difference and he said that is definitely does and to stick with it no matter what. He reminded me that it will be over soon. Eating has become a routine thing for me now..same thing each day. I ignore others who eat' date=' change the TV channel is I see food and do my best to find other stuff to do. I have completed my 5th day today - down 6 pounds as of this morning.[/quote']

Thank you so much for that!! I was so exhausted at work today! I'm just trying to keep my eyes on the prize and to be kind to myself.

  2. So today was the first day of my pre op diet. I found that pinterest was really helpful to take my mind off of food stuff when I got home from work. There are so many cute holiday crafts that don't include food. I could try and make something nice for friends and family. It's a cool distraction.

  3. I feel the exact same way. I don't know if it's different for me because I actually do surgery for a living or because I am used to be in control in the operating room. Last week my therapist asked I she had told me about her complication- she had a RNY- and then proceeded to tell me this horror story. I really could have done without that.

I just think that people like to relate on whatever level. They think they are helping I am sure. I just need to remember that everyone has their own experience.

  4. So it's officially one week until I start my pre op

Diet and I have been eating like crap! Even though I am obviously over weight I don't normally eat drive through food or sugar in large amounts like I have been for the past week. I guess I just needed to vent or hope that someone could relate.

I am really just feeling so impatient that I h e to wait three more weeks until surgery! I have never been good at waiting for what I want. I guess it's good that I can identify what I'm feeling.

I am a doctor and I have seen all types of abdominal surgery complications. I think I have normal fears but would ultimately be scared that this wouldn't help me lose weight.

I chose my doc after looking through many and checking qualifications and the hospitals they work at. I did not want it done at my own hospital.

As for health benefits I hope to get, I have terrible back pain from a car accident that left me unable to exercise like normal so I hope that getting rid of the weight will help with that.

  6. Just remember ladies, you can't go on a diet and get a personality!! These stupid skinny ladies making comments are stuck with rocks for brains. At least we all can think in our feet. We have had the gift as many have said of experiencing these two lives. One heavy and one healthier. Amen!
