  1. So glad to hear everyone is doing great!!!!

Sue' date=' I shopped for bras the other day and it was so exciting for once I was able to buy pretty undergarments!!!! No old lady over the shoulder boulder holders!!! LOL!!!

I have lost cup sizes and for the first time in my life I needed a push up bra??? Oh well, I'll take the good with the bad.

All of you have a blessed day!!![/quote']

Green...I know how you feel but I can live with smaller boobs if the rest of me is smaller too! You look great!

  2. Well I have stalled for the last 2 months and just ignored it since I've been working out more. I have been between 157-160 but have went down from a 12 to a 10. So have just been going w the flow...

Yesterday I was admitted to the hospital and will be having gallbladder surgery today at 3pm...the surgeon said that this is common in people who lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time...so the only positive is that I will be on a liquid diet for a couple of days and hopefully can lose a few pounds during my recovery.

  3. Ok so I went for my 6 month check-up and the doctor starts telling me that I only need to lose 15 more pounds. NO I have 30 more to go to reach my goal weight. I started at 238 on 9/17/2012 and I'm down to 160 but my goal has always been 130. I'm only 5'2 so it's not that unreasonable but why do the doctors always try to discourage you because of your age? I'm only 35 not 85. I don't want to hear "at your age" because I'm made it this far and I will make my goal.

On another note I found a Protein Shake that taste so good I choose it over food most of the time now. GNC TotalLean is so good! I have about 5 big containers of different Protein Shakes that I bought and did not like and finally 6 months out I finally found one I love! ????????????????????????????????????

  4. I live near downtown FW (Hulen & 30). Had surgery on 6/28. Started at 279 (size 24) and am down to 207 (size 16). My exercising has consisted mostly of walking. I don't know many people in town who have had surgery or otherwise as I am not from Texas.

Tarrant County has several community centers which all have small gyms inside. The cost for a year for a family of up to 6 people is only 40. The only downside is that the hours are limited. The one closest to me is open 7a-7p.

We should meet up you are really close to me and we could hang out and share our experiences as I was born n raised here n Texas...lol

  5. I feel like I eat too Mich..and slime a lot

I feel like I am failing ..but loosing. I don't know..I've lost 30 in 7 weeks ..that is good right?..somedays I graze ..but Water makes me feel yucky. I wanted to get a hold on my Carb craving..it is more of a crunch'' craving..idk..I guess I am adjusting..but feel like I should be doing better ..I don't want to miss this time..I heard after 6 months its harder..here's My vent ..I was never given guidelines..and its easy to make excuses

Ur only 7 weeks out so ur weight lose is good but u need to get a plan when it comes to eating...it's not easy after surgery. If u need a crunch get some RAW nuts they r not as bad for u as other crunchy foods but get like a 2 or 3 oz container n thats it NO grazing as it will become a bad habit for u and hurt ur progress in the long run. I am not a big Water person either so I drink tea w Splenda or crystal light with my water. Although since I've been exercising more I have been craving water.

I feel like I did not get and am still not getting the guidance I thought I would after surgery but I have found ways to get my Protein as I know that is the most important.

    Surgery 9/19...down 53 lbs...started at size 20-22 down to a 12-13! ;)

  6. Me too! I was always hot before and now I am always freezing! I think it's because we don't eat all that comfort food anymore...lol...or cause we don't have as much weight to keep us warm anymore...lol

    I was sleeved on 9/19...down 53 lbs...started at size 20-22 down to a 12-13! ;)

I am loving my new look and life.

I agree that we hit stalls but we have to stay positive and stick with the program. Don't sabotage your success and goals by eating candy or giving up. Our bodies r still n a little bit of a shock so it is not going to cooperate all the time. Be patient and stick to the plan...by this time next year we r all going to be amazed by the results of our hard work and dedication. :)

I would love to find a work out partner in the Fort Worth area if anyone is interested. I joined Planet Fitness in north side Fort Worth ($10 a month) and think I would have better motivation if I had a friend with the same goals as me to work out with. Call me if interested 817-223-6241.

  8. I have really been going back and forth as whether to post here or not. I guess I am sort of a "forum person" in my hobbies and areas of interest' date=' but I have to be honest, I have avoided posting on this site or even looking at it for a couple of reasons. I found this site only a few days before my surgery but when I found it I found more negativity and frightened people then I found inspiration. Actually, I have gone here and gotten the (bleep) scared out of me by a few posters, every time I see their posts I get knots in my stomach. The main poster that does that to me has a screen name that starts with the letter "i". Everybody is terrified of leaks and all the negatives of this surgery and I just haven't been able to relate to many of the topics. Below I will share some of the basics of my journey so far. [/background']

First off, I am a 35 year old male who is 6 feet 3 inches tall. I wasn't fat my whole life, I actually weighed 218 when I was 19 years old. That was pretty close to a "perfect" weight for me. I got into a business where the guys I worked with partied, ate, and drank to excess. Over the years I ballooned to 445 lbs which is where I have been for the past 2-3 years. In 2010 I was considering the lap band but chickened out. I was back on in 2011 but chickened out again. In 2012 I HAD to make a decision because I was put on Metformin for borderline diabetes and Lisinopril for borderline blood pressure as well. That was it. I started again with the nutritionist appointments and made an appt. to see my surgeon who is located downtown Chicago a few miles from my house. My first appt. with him was in early October 2012 and he suggested a VSG instead of the lap band because of the large amount of weight I wanted to lose. I left thinking about it and did the rest of my pre op requirements such as upper GI, psyche, EKG, etc. I saw my surgeon again on November 14th, 2012 and we decided on the VSG (which I really didn't know a lot about). We set surgery for December 21st, 2012.

Because I am a big fella, my surgeon put me on a 28 day pre op liquid only diet (to shrink my liver and loosen my skin) which I started on November 23rd, 2012 (the day after Thanksgiving). The first few days were tough but I have very strong will power and stuck to it, following the requirements to the letter. I didn't cheat even once. Again, not even once. After about 12 days it was smooth sailing and I just plugged away and kept up the exercise plan that I had been doing for over a year which was just walking 1.5 miles, three times per week at my local YMCA. I didn't weigh myself even once the entire plan and weighed myself the morning of surgery. To my astonishment I lost a staggering 49 lbs!!!!I I couldn't even believe it, to be honest with you I began to sob like a little girl! I went from 445 to 396. I was just so shocked. My surgeon told me that I broke his practice record which was previously 45 lbs for a pre op diet. Again, I LOST 49 LBS IN 28 DAYS!!!

On the morning of December 21st, 2012 I was ready for surgery at a major hospital downtown Chicago. I arrived, valet parked, checked in, and was laying on the table prepped for surgery within 1 hour just waiting for the anesthesiologist. I was in surgery about an hour and a half later and the surgery took 2 1/2 hours. I am going to cut the details of my hospital stay down so readers aren't sitting here all day reading. Any questions just ask me. I wanted to leave the hospital the next evening but my surgeon said that he wouldn't allow me to break two records and that I should stay another night. Quick recap, I was checked into my room after surgery at 6pm Friday night and was discharged from the hospital at 11am Sunday morning, less then 48 hours after entering my room.

Upon arriving home I checked my weight, expecting to have lost a few lbs, and actually gained back 2 lbs due to all the fluids that were pumped into me. I was back up to 398. My recovery went ok I think, I was in a lot of pain along my largest incision which is about 3+ inches wide. I was on Tramadol which sucks. It took me 9 days to finish the 25 pills that I was prescribed since I was skipping doses. I was home on Sunday morning and by Wednesday morning I was off to the YMCA where I walked only one lap around the track. I limped around and talked to my friends there before going home. I was back at the YMCA on Friday and actually walked 5 laps (a half mile). I finally weighed myself on Friday, one week after surgery, and I was down from 398 to 391. I weighed myself again on Sunday afternoon and I lost another 4 lbs from Friday to Sunday, 9 lbs in 9 days, ending up at 387 lbs, 58 lbs down in 38 days.

So that's basically that. It's been over 10 days now since surgery and I am feeling like a million bucks. Here are the "scary" parts. I am using the term scary because after reading this site I would have thought I was going to die from this surgery. I HAVE NOT been nauseous even for one second since surgery. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOT thrown up, or even gagged for that matter, not even once. I AM ABLE to drink 60ozs of Fluid per day. I just started puree on Saturday, 8 days out, and it's been perfect. I had 4 ozs of low fat cottage cheese (which I LOVE) today as well as only one Protein Shake, a bowl of Tomato Soup, and plenty of Water. I AM NOT hungry, EVER. I just eat to live, that's it. Today I feel the best that I have felt since surgery. Every day gets better. My goal is to lose 220 lbs, 100 in three months from the start of my pre op diet on November 23rd. I WILL do it.

I know I left out a bunch so fire away (or ask any questions that you want).

I am glad to hear u r doing good and feeling great. I too have had no issues since my surgery I am just loving life. I had surgery on 9/19 n am down 53 lbs but 10 sizes smaller in clothes which means more to me than the weight...lol

Good luck and keep me posted on ur progress.

  13. Oh man! Sorry to hear about all of this. I have to admit- I feel very similar with the husband scenario. I'm trying like heck to fight through it all but it's not easy. Hang in there- Prayers and hugs

Well things are about the same with my hubby...I work a lot so that helps but when I am home I can never do anything right in his eyes..so tired of arguing but I too am trying to hang in there....I hope things are better on your end!

  14. So I am down 53 lbs starting at 235 day of surgery to 182...size 20-22 down to 12-14! I am really excited except for the extra skin I am noticing...I really need to join a gym but the ones that are affordable are either far away from me, don't have a daycare, or don't have hours that work for me...I wish I knew someone that would help me especially since my docs office no longer has the cute little fit woman to show us what exercises I need to do and how to do them...now that have a middle aged man who is not even in shape his self trying to tell me what I need to do...yea like I'm going to take advice from someone that is not using the technics himself! I think I'm going to have to find an affordable trainer...

  15. MKNMORE- I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been with my hubby for 20 years and believe me' date=' we have had our ups and downs. I left him a couple times. All marriages have challenges BUT I was told during our Psych evaluation that the divorce rate is way high for bariatric patients. So is depression. I would not do anything drastic right now. I know at my church, we offer couselling for free and that may be an option. Leaving should be the absolute last resort unless he is abusing you or your children. You need to get to a point where you are happy regardless of him and what he is doing. Men do not know how to communicate at all! I always hear the stories of the women where their husbands are so great. But I am sure they all have bad qualities. Just think of the good things and why you married him and try to go back t o that. Until then, maybe you can get some individual counseling . Like I said maybe at a church or there are other public counseling for free.[/quote']

I also took some of your advice about seeking a counselor...we went to our priest and he basically listened and mediated but not a lot of progress...
