  1. jbjen, sue11 you mean only clear liquids? or protein shakes and clear liquids? Evilah
  2. I think I've seen alot of at or near goal bandsters~! But then I have a really positive view of the whole process and am also willing to work hard to "meet the band halfway"
  3. There are so many Soups out there lkristy! on of my favorite soup recipe places is recipesource.com I also own a recipe book dedicated to soup that I picked up on the sale rack at B&N. Today, I just had ultimate meals. Ultimate meals cause you to detox, and I think I'm doing that right now. Slight headace, REALLY irritable. Not tired, but not energetic either. bleck! Tomorrow I have an endoscopy and after 6p I'm on Clear Liquids. You can do it kirsty! =Evilah
  4. hi sheree! congrats! chickee, I love to read your posts! I totally take your eat well and excercise advice like scripture! Look at you! You're below goal! You're the best example I can think of! Keep posting! Evilah
  5. I think it might be called an "ap" band. i'd like to find out more too, since I'm getting banded in July and may be recieving it! I want to know what to ask my doctor about, or at least how to respond intelligently if he mentions it at my next appt. Evilah

    Carlene, You're a hoot! Evilah
  7. I'm not sure if I will be able to do the liquid diet when it is time to (mid june), SO I think I will do a practice liquid diet to build up my "skills". I don't want the day to come, and then not have the willpower or stable blood sugar to follow through. I am doing liquids for three days starting now, this is the pre-op diet required by my doctor. Evilah
  8. For those on liquid diets... Pre-op, post-op, pre-fill, post-fill, post-slip, or for any other reason, Stop in here, get some support. It can be really hard to be on liquids, and when you're done with it, you probably don't want to think about it anymore, much less help anyone else get through it and listen to their woes. Liquid Dieters STAND STRONG! STICK TO IT! STICK TOGETHER HERE! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  9. I have a magic bullet-- I'm on my second one. The first one lated about a year then it burned. Of course I had a second one because they made me buy two, so I had a backup. LOL. So glad I didn't give it to my sister. The motor burns out if run it for longer than ten seconds, or try use it for something that is pasty/too thick. But I find it works fantastic at what it CAN do. dips, Protein shakes, chopped foods, whipped cream, mixed drinks, chopped ice, pestos, sauces, pureed soups. I like using the cup for one thing then tossing it in the dishwasher, and only washing the blade if I need it again. But then I have 4 blades, because I bought two! The juicer DOES NOT WORK! In sum, I like it alot, it works for what I use it for, but there are some major things it does not do which other people probably don't like.
  10. hisuzi, how are you doing with your post op diet? Evilah
  11. wendy, pinenut I'll keep you in my thoughts! I'm so excited for you two! Evilah
  12. I "get it off my chest" here too. Helps me to deal, I'm on the west coast. It takes alot of strength to adopt children, you must be very loving. take care Evilah
  13. jfran i just got my insurance approval last friday. I cried. Because i was thinkin, wow, I can be normal again, and also because I'm scared of surgery. evilah
  14. Look to the right of her belly button. Is that a tube and a port? ?!?!?!? Evilah:omg:
  15. I believe that some foods are addictive. Even foods that don't have proven addictive substances (life caffeine) in them. I've never fallen prey to cigarettes, or caffeine, or alcohol, but certain things, like french fries ruin weeks of dieting for me. First it's the french fries, then the spicy chicken sandwhich, and before I know it, I'm all tired and haven't been cooking healthy food and I'm wanting only to eat more and more fries, and mayo, and anything deep fried with a crust. About smoking bans, I wish we could ban car exhaust. I'm terribly sensitive to it. So is my neighbor. I absolutely avoid traffic. If I go to a store with a 2 ton diesel sitting out front running, I RUN THE OTHER WAY! If I have to drive through tons of traffic to get somewhere, it ruins it, cause I'm sick when I get there, and can't enjoy whatever it is. Evilah
  16. long tongues and no wisdom teeth seem to be dominant inheritable traits in my family. heh. I wonder if the genes are linked? My sister's tongue is longer than mine. We measured. lol!!!! evilah

I once long ago posted in the off topic area at another website about a hotly debated topic in the news, and in the presidential elections. I was new to the board, and didn't realize how young (teens) everyone was, and how politically aligned. There were only two people who agreed with me, and everyone else resorted to directly insulting anyone who didn't agree with them. It was really ridiculous, and reading through other off topic posts gave me a clear idea about the general nature of the site, average age of the users, level of education, etc. I left, didn't post again, and chose to find another community that would "fit" me better. And I did, and it was great! Just saying, that as someone new to a board, I read through the off topic areas to see how the site is managed, how people interact. It helps you to know whether or not that community is one you would like to be a part of.
  18. bwahahahahahahahahahaha Just in case anyone thought they'd run the OLD litterbox through the old dishwasher. bwahahahahahha.
  19. when I was skinny I could lick my elbow. and so can my sister. evilah
  20. Merr, You're on Dr. Oh's diet? What's the pre-op diet exactly? 3 protein shakes a day with 30g protein in each? Or 3 thirty gram shakes a day? (plus clear liquids) Evilah
  21. i pray my marriage will be okay. I have a tendency towards mania when I lose weight, and I love my husband and I think he'd have to beat me to get rid of me LOL! I don't want to hurt him and he's the best thing that ever happened to me. Plus I was ~70 lbs thinner when we met/got married, so I hope it will be sort of like turning back the clock when I lose weight (no skinny-shock for him) Evilah
  22. good for you! I am worried about keeping tabs on my band after surgery, and plan to have it checked out periodcially to make sure it's okay. I haven't quite gotten to the diagnostic approach I'll need to look for yet, but I'm keeping ultrasound and upper GI in mind, as I don't want to do barium swallows or anything else involving radiation. Evilah
  23. In contrast, another study O'Brien and colleagues presented at the obesity meeting found that pregnancy outcomes for women with stomach bands were comparable to normal-weight women, and better than for obese women without bands.
  24. your doctor is going OUT of network? That's new, how does that happen?
