  1. HI, I am 2 weeks from surgery. I see many of you use My Fitness Pal and I have a question. My nut says I have to get 60 grams of Protein minimum. I have been following the food plan they gave me but when I put it in My Fitness Pal, it says I don't need that much protein. That is discouraging. So how do the rest of you use the site and get it set up to the right criteria for WLS. I don't want to be working hard to follow a plan and then have a tool I am using to track it ( My Fitness Pal) tell me I am off the mark or wrong when I know I am following the program. As it is now, I am manually entering all my meals and information in my electronic calendar but I would like a tool to make it easier. I just don't want one that undermines me or says there is an error when I am doing what my nut tells me to do. Thanks!!

My Fitness Pal? Nutrition Levels For Wls

I put the app on my phone and I must say, I am getting the hang of the program. Thanks again for helping me find how to adjust it. This will make tracking my food intake so much easier!

    12 Days Post Op

Thanks for posting! Great to hear how well it went for you. Hope things continue on the same smooth course and your kids are adorable. I read one post how someone was sick for 5 days and thinking gee, I hate to throw up....so your post came at just the right time.

    Decembersleevers

I am sorry to hear about your health and cancer struggles. Glad you found this forum for support. I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations, terms, and other connections that forum uses. But I know it can be a valuable resource and help all of us.

My Fitness Pal? Nutrition Levels For Wls

Thanks!!! You guys are the best! I found it and adjusted it. I realize it will be a process ( isn't all of this WLS) but it seems more doable now with MFP. This should be easier than what I was doing since July. I decided to put the times of my meals and other stuff ( fullness, mood) that it was suggested to track in the notes. I first looked at MFP when I first met with the nut but it didn't seem to fit what they were telling me to do. Now that you all have given me some more ideas on how to tweak it, this seems so much easier. THANKS!!! I can see why the support here is going to be so important to my success and finally getting and staying at a healthy weight! Hope all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving weekend!

    Decembersleevers

Hi, I share your mixed emotions. My surgery date is Dec 6. One hand, I can't wait for it to come and on the other I think I am not ready, what do I have to get in place, what will it be like, how will it go, etc. After going through all the insurance hoops, and thinking about this for years, it just doesn't seem real. I am not going to chicken out, I am doing this primarily for health reasons as my weight has impacted my health so much. I have lost weight before but can't keep it off or get past a certain point. So praying that all of us have a good outcome, quick recovery, and reach a healthy manageable weight! Fortunately we have these great forums for support to help us through the struggle.

Looking For Dec Sleevers Out There

Today I finally had a last hurdle, my stress test. I have my appointment with my surgeon on Thursday and a date for surgery -Dec 6. I didn't have my sleeve class yet with the dietician and nurse but it will probably be next week. I am debating whether to pick chocolate or strawberry for the Protein Drink they supply for the week before surgery. Mostly I am wondering which I would be least likely to get tired or sick of. I am a list maker and planner. So I was thinking if we brainstormed maybe we could help pre and post op be smoother. So here are some of my thoughts, please feel free to add to it. So what have others done to prepare for surgery? What Protein drinks have you tried? What 'gear*' have you thought about getting? * drink shakers, food measuring, smaller utensils, exercise equipment Considering we are getting surgery in Dec, how are you prepping for your holiday ahead of time with shopping? How are you altering your schedule and when do you think you will be doing most of your regular obligations again? The people you haven't told yet but are planning to tell, how and when are you going to tell them?

    My Approval Story Bcbstx

I got my surgery approved. Love the weird letter you get, yeah approved but not exactly saying they are paying for it guaranteed ( all insurance mumbo jumbo). Now I have my surgery date, Dec 6. I developed shingles and could have had a sooner date in Nov but had to take steroids for a bit. Well it will work out this way. I can get everything in place for the holidays and my surgery. Now I just need my cardiologist to send over that stress test to my surgeon. I signed off on that in July but some how it still hasn't been sent ( less than 5 miles).

    My Approval Story Bcbstx

I just got off the phone. I am approved for surgery!! Praise God!! I debated calling all day to check and finally broke down and called. I thought all weekend I would regret not at least trying to find out. I got a lady who was checking but we got disconnected. Then she called me back and said I was approved yesterday and the letter went out!!!

    My Approval Story Bcbstx

These stories are giving me some hope. BC/BS TX got my paperwork on Monday. I called and they said they got it on Monday and 'routed it' on Wednesday. So many things are kind of in limbo until I have approval and a surgery date.
  12. I have a recumbent exercise bike. I have been doing well on it but have hit a problem. I am having chafing and skin problems in my groin area ( where my legs meet my torso). It isn't heat rash. I thought it might be due to wearing loose clothing. I am trying to find biking shorts that fit. I have some on order and they are due soon. I have tried powder and washing and changing immediately after working out. Has anyone else had this problem? It is getting so that it is uncomfortable even if I am not riding my bike. Any ideas would be welcome. Due to health issues, riding my bike is my best exercise option. I wouldn't be able to do as much if I tried walking. Thanks!
  13. So happy for you!! I think my papers went in yesterday ( first time WLS) and praying for quick positive answer. So weird that this is the most anxious part.

I have read a few posts and am excited to have a place to ask questions from people who have experience. My life is busy so getting to support meetings would be difficult but a web site, I can do.
