  1. I wont miss going to the big girl store for clothes. I wont miss wearing orthotic shoes for my planters. I wont miss sweating all the time. I wont miss acting like a contortionist to shave my legs. I wont miss worrying if Im going to break a lawn chair. There's so much more but Ill stop now...lol. Im looking forward to wearing cute stylish clothes from the normal girl store. Im looking forward to doing yoga and not cutting of my air supply. Im looking forward to making the inner thighs of my jeans last as long as the rest of the jeans. Im looking forward to being able to get my freak on with my hubby easier Im looking forward to weighing less than my husband. There are hundreds and hundreds of things to not miss and just as many things to look forward to.
  2. Im on my 14 day preop diet and am on day 7 right? We were watching Survivor last night and they were bidding on foods like fried chicken, pancakes, yummy sandwiches and here I am starving lol. My mouth was literally watering. I would have mugged someone for a sandwich last night but I stayed strong and had a protein shake. Oh and this morning at work someone toasted up some delicious smelling cinnamon raisin toast. They almost got mugged. Just sayin'.
  3. I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. I hope day 3 is the turnaround for you and you can keep those pain meds down. Were they able to do the single incision?
  4. I completely understand. I went thru a 3 month diet as well as the other testing. The insurance coordinators have seen hundreds if not thousands of cases and can pretty much tell when something is going to get approved or not. If she is pretty sure then thats a good sign.
  5. I have BCBS Federal and they required a 2 year weight history as well except I was rarely sick so I didnt have 2 full years. I had data from 2008 and data from 2011. I wasnt as heavy in that data, but still obese and they had no problem accepting the data with a gap in it. I dont know how Cigna works but that was the one thing that I was most worried about when my information was submitted for approval. Good luck to you.
  6. Im with you regarding the Big Island. We got married there, spent 5 days in Hilo then 5 in Kona before getting married and went back for our anniversary. We love the tree hugging pace and arent really into the whole big city night life thing so its perfect for us. We are absolutely in love with the Big Island, the people and the pace.
  7. I had a 'food funeral' too. I think its common although not recommended. There will be rock stars on here that say they didnt have a food funeral but that wasnt me lol.
  8. My 2 week preop consists of GNC Lean Protein shakes, Unjury chicken broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, Isopure drinks (not that big of a fan of them though), Oh Yeah shakes (I like the cookies and cream). Before I started my preop I went and bought a variety of protein drinks to taste test so I knew ahead of time what I liked. Oh I also drink decaf coffee and tea.
  9. Good luck. Check in with us when you can and let us know how you are doing. Great job so far!
  10. Im on my 3rd day of my 2 week preop diet. I can hardly stomach the icky Bariatric Advantage shake mix my surgeons office gave me so Ive been getting my protein in with other things. I like the Lean Protein Vanilla shakes from GNC, Oh Yeah brand has a cookies and cream that is tolerable and my favorite go to has been the Unjury chicken broth that has 21 grams of protein per serving. I am finding that I need to make sure to have enough calories because Ive only been getting in about 500 and I get tired really easily. Good news is that in 3 days Ive lost 6 pounds. December 5th is my big day
  11. I love the Unjury chicken broth. Its really helping me get thru my preop diet. Im going to have to order more. Its yummy.
  12. Suburban Surgical Care is awesome. Thats where my surgeon is from too.
  13. Im December 5th at Alexian Brothers, Elk Grove Village. Who did your sleeve at St. Alexis Christi? Dr. Guske is performing mine.
  14. Im so sorry you had to go thru kidney stone pain. I had my first kidney stone 11/8 and it was the worst pain Ive ever experienced in my life. Im preop (surgery date Dec 5) so Im going to be obsessive about getting my water in to try to minimize getting another one. Ive never felt pain like that in my whole life.
  15. Im December 5th too! Very nervous and anxious. I feel like time is moving very slow for me. Starting my preop diet the day after Thanksgiving.
  16. Congrats on the new you staring tomorrow. We'll be thinking about you. Please update us and let us know how you doing after surgery if you can.
  17. You said you had some beef bullion with protein powder in it. Did the protein powder contain milk? Im so sorry you had a bad evening but its a good thing you went to the hospital just in case it was something really bad.
  18. While I was going thru my 3 month supervised diet I had gone on vacation to of all place Vegas. So when I got back, my friends were asking how my weigh in went and I said happily that I actually lost 2 pounds and I was so shocked. Well Miss size 2 piece of sh*t bounces over to announce that she weighed herself that morning and she weighed 110 pounds. I got right in her face and said 'keep telling the fat girl how skinny you are, go ahead'. She said "I didnt mean it like that". Really, then how did she mean it? I was bent. But I wasnt going to just let it go because it wasnt the first time she had made a comment. She only makes them when our male co-workers are around. There are always going to be those girls around that have never ever had a weight issue in thier life and have no idea the struggle physically and mentally we go through or have gone through. They might be skinny but they are mean and shallow, we will be skinny and are and always will be fabulous!
  19. Had mine out in 2008 and experienced what you are but its dumping syndrome. The gallbladder is meant to regulate the amount of bile that goes into your stomach that digests your eaten food. The liver creates the bile, it would go into the gallbladder and the gallbladder would drip it little by little into the tummy. So now with no gallbladder, all the bile gets dumped into the tummy so the longer you go without eating, the more bile that is building up and if you have a tummy full of bile then eat, its dissolves so fast that WHOOSH, runs. So I have to make sure to eat something, anything at regular intervals during the day to avoid the sudden urge to go potty. It does get better but I think maybe Im just used to preventing it when I can but I do know that even now if I havent eaten in a long time, Im gonna have an issue. Hope that helps.
  20. Thank you for saying that. I believe that as well. The Universe provided me this opportunity. Just because it wasnt HER way, doesnt mean it wasnt a way. While I miss having a girl best friend, I have my husband and he is my number 1 best friend and he supports my decision 100%! I feel fortunate that I know now that she wasnt the friend I thought she was.
  21. I feel you too. I lost my best friend when I told her I wanted to start my journey. She believes that anything you want you just ask the Universe for and youll get it. So because I wasnt losing weight and being healthy, I didnt really want it bad enough. If I had, the Universe would have provided. Cmon now! I live in reality and so do you. We just have to come to terms that haters are gonna hate and true friends will make their presence known and a major life change weeds out the crappy ones or the fake ones. You do what you have to do for you and your children, no one else!
  22. You are adorable! Great pics. Thanks so much. Im scheduled for Dec 5th.
  23. YAY!! How exciting. Congrats. Check in with us and let us know how you are doing when you wake up a brand new you
  24. You are correct, my body does like it when I use it so Im glad that Ive become addicted to it as of late.
