  1. From what I've read you will have hair loss for about a 3 week period, starting at the 3rd month post-op. But then it grows back fine. I wouldn't give up being healthy for years over a 3 week hair loss. My aunt wears different wigs all the time; she changes them depending on her mood and wardrobe for the day. It's kind of fun for her. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  2. Congrats! Hope you continue to feel good tomorrow....
  3. Hi all. I'm looking for a surgery sister/brother. I'd like to go through the experience with someone who's going through the same things, to be supportive and support each other through this huge rebirth to a healthy us. Can't wait! Wish everyone the best of luck in their journey.
  4. You look great. I hope to have the same results....
  5. I'd love to lose 40 lbs. in 2 months...hopefully I will after my surgery next month. Keep up the good work!
  6. I'm sorry you have to wait for your sleeve now, but at least you're okay. I've had my gallbladder out, it wasn't bad at all. Just be aware that you might get the poops with certain foods, oily foods especially.
  7. Hi Barb, welcome! I'm a 41 year old, soon to be grandma and I am scheduled for 12/19/12. I can't wait for my vsg. Will be beginning the new year a healthier person I'm in NC by the way. Good luck on the ride of your life.

It must just be your plan. I have BCBS Blue Options (NC) and they cover it all. I just got my approval today and am scheduled for 12/19/12. Keep trying, you can fight it. If they still won't cover, think about personal financing. From all the research I've done, it's definitely worth it! Good luck!
  9. Hi all, I'm 41 (will be 42 in May, and hoping to be at my 1st goal by then to). I am scheduled for 12/19 and hope for a quick and easy recovery. My daughter is having her 1st child in April and I'm hoping to be under 200 at that point. Good luck to all of you in your journey's.
  10. Hi Liz, hope you have a smooth and joyful journey.
  11. Try Melatonin, it's in the vitamin section. I have had the same issues, I take 2 5mg pills about 30 minutes before bed and I'm out. You can take more if you need to, it's not habit forming.
  12. Sounds like your sciatic nerve. Try stretching out your hips/thighs. Look on youtube for specifics, they are too hard to describe how to do. I get that quite often cause I have a disc out in my back. Stretches do help relieve it a bit at least.
  13. If you have to sleep on her back put a pillow underneath your knees, that will alleviate the space in between your back/butt.
  14. I gained 60 lbs. from the Depo shot in 1 1/2 years; and then my weight stuck. I haven't been able to lose ANY weight since then and that was over 10 years ago. I know it doesn't effect everyone like that, but I wouldn't risk it if I were you. Hate for you to gain weight back because of it.
  15. I plan on taking my weight and measurements monthly from the day of my surgery, 12/19. I don't want to obsess about the scale, I see too many people on here panic when they have a stall. When my clothes fall off I'll know I'm good lol
  16. I believe it is cream soups, like cream of mushroom (probably have you strain the mushrooms out); cream of chicken (straining the chicken out), etc..
  17. Good luck to you both! Just breath
  18. Hi Sandy, my date is December 19th (tentative upon approval, which should be coming this week). Looks like we're starting at about the same weight and have the same goal. Hope to keep in touch with you throughout the process. Good luck!
  19. What is a burpee?
  20. Mine is the 19th. Good luck and enjoy your journey!
  21. I feel ya to, My husband is also not supportive, although he thinks he is because he went with me to see the surgeon. He asked the Dr. if he ever had anyone die on the table, that was it. I am tentatively scheduled for 12/19 awaiting approval. All my tests have been done and I know I qualify. I just hope my insurance doesn't decide to be asses about it and require more than what their policy says they do. Anyway, you have to do what is best for you, especially if it's to improve your overall health. They'll either deal with it, or they won't. Life goes on! Best of luck to you and hope you have a smooth recovery.
  22. Congrats. Enjoy your journey, and good luck!
  23. I plan on taking pics every month, and taking my measurements. I want to see the change in pics, cause you never see yourself they same as you do in pics.
