    Any March Sleevers?

Great to hear how everyone is doing. I am starting my pre op diet tomorrow and am so nervous about being able to comply. I usually sabotage every diet I've started. Positive thinking though! I've emptied all the junk out of the fridge and cupboards. And I am starting to get excited as it means op day is closer. I seem to be feeling more assured that I won't die on the operating table but I am more cautious about the leaks/bleeds that can occur for a few weeks afterwards. Mostly though I am so excited about saying goodbye to my painful feet, ankles and legs!!! gx

    Any March Sleevers?

My little girl is 3 and I had to put her in the bath so she would stay out the way. She was trying to help me, the little sweetheart.

    Any March Sleevers?

Oh Peacock mama that sounds awful! Barf! Over xmas we left the cats for one night and came in to the WHOLE house covered in runny cat poo...windowsills, beds, floors, stairs, toys. I didn't know where to start and stood and cried!

    Any March Sleevers?

Kyeta thank you so much for your reply. That is an excellent way to view the situation. I have just realised how negative I am being. Time to focus on the exciting aspects. Well its bedtime here in Scotland nighty night, look forward to more updates tomorrow. Xx

    Any March Sleevers?

I can sense the excitement (and nerves) on this thread. Can't wait till we're all done and safely on the other side. A patient recently sleeved by my surgeon has had a bleed and it is making me even more nervous. I am wondering if it is a sign I shouldn't be going ahead with the op. Also trying to get my head sorted for the preop diet beginning Tues (12th) I am so doubtful I can do it..... Argh how negative do I sound? lol Time for a bit of positive thinking me thinks....x Sending positive vibes to everyone for tomorrow gilx

    Any March Sleevers?

Hey guys been reading all the posts, I keep feeling sick though - sick with nerves and sick with excitement. Op is 3wks today and I start preop diet (low fat/carb) in 1wks time. I am so nervous about trying to follow that never mind the op! Good luck to everyone going under the knife today/tomorrow. Get back quick and tell us how it feels to be on the other side. Big hugs everyone gilx

    How do you reward yourself?

I'm in the UK and a one to one lesson varies from £30 to £50 ($45-$75). This is redeemable against their products if you buy them on the day. Not the most expensive treat but I'd only want to do it when I was feeling better about myself

I barely got through day one...pre-op

Good luck everyone doing the pre op at the moment. I am dreading this. I struggle to behave for one day never mind 2 weeks Luckily I don't have to lose a certain amount, the aim is just liver shrinking. gilx

    How do you reward yourself?

Hmmm I've been trying to sit write a list of goals and rewards. So far I've came up with 5 goal weights (for various reasons - e.g. pre pregnancy etc) However I've only thought of 3 rewards - a massage, then a M.A.C. makeover (and make-up) and finally a dress from Monsoon Trying to think of something for my final goal. need to start saving...
  11. Hi Just wondering if anyone can tell me what it is like to have a tummy bug when you are sleeved? I've had a few during my time being banded and it was hell. You feel like the sick is trying to come up but it bounces off the tight banded bit and can't get out. I ended up really ill with diarrhoea and it all lasted a lot longer than normal which I attribute to the bug not being expelled from my tummy. Not the nicest topic I know but just curious. gilx

    Wedding 11 days post op....?

Thanks guys - I hadn't even considered having the 'runs' It's strange - as I have been worrying so much about dying on the operating table that I hadn't given my post op condition much thought. I was up and about quite quickly after my band op but I realise that was a bit simpler and I was 7yrs younger... I'll get stocked up with liquids and keep away from ice cream & alcohol.... I had only mentioned ice cream as it's part of her menu and I hate being a bother as she's pretty stressed right now. She has been great though offering me use of a room to rest during the day etc. Determined to enjoy the day with her. I had hoped my op would be in Jan and I'd be looking a little slimmer by the wedding but heyho wasn't to be... gilx
  13. Hi One of my closest friends is getting married 11 days after my op. Not ideal but I don't have much choice. A few questions - what food/liquids will I be on? She is asking if I need any special menu but I was thinking I would only manage some liquids, maybe Soup broth, ice cream?? I don't want her wasting money on a full dinner for it to be binned. Also I am travelling to my hotel, getting ready then a bus is taking us all to the wedding venue which is about an hour or so away (venue is quite remote) do you think I am being too ambitious? Will all the travelling and sitting be too much? Will be a long day. I was so looking forward to this wedding but now am a bit stressed thanks gilx p.s. I am assuming I won't be able to have a glass of champers.....

Any New Uk Sleevers Out There?

Ahh right I had a wee look at your other posts - how frustrating! Really feel for you having to keep waiting. I was bad enough being told it'd be Jan then having to wait till March... Fingers crossed for you. Maybe we'll be going through this together. gilx

Any New Uk Sleevers Out There?

Thanks pinkgrace . How are you finding being a sleevie? gilx
  17. Hi guys I've been lurking about for a bit but thought I'd finally say Hi as I've finally got my date for surgery. I am based in the UK and had a band op in Belgium (self funded) in 2005. I loved it and lost a lot of weight quickly. Met a guy and fell in love so didn't worry too much about losing anymore. I messed about big time with my fills. And was never really happy after the initial honeymoon period. I suffered with reflux whenever I had any restriction therefore my band was quite loose a lot of the time so I started regaining. I fell pregnant unexpectedly in 2009 and me & my partner split - cue massive emotional eating (and eating 'for 2') I had problems with getting a fill last year and under xray they discovered my band had slipped so now I have been offered a sleeve and am very lucky to be getting it on the NHS. I luckily have no co-morbidities but am suffering hip, knee and foot pain quite badly. I made my decision that I need to give another op a try and am excited at having another bite at the cherry while also worrying that I'll sabotage this op as I did the band and ultimately that I'll die and leave my little girl all alone... The fear of dying is paralysing me and combined with stress at work I've been signed off for a couple of weeks. So now I have the chance to come on and immerse myself in 'sleeve talk'. Thankfully over the past few days I've decided to try cut out the junk food and help get healthy for the op. Not easy as when my 3yr old is acting up I am craving chocolate and crisps hehe. Well thanks for letting me share, hope to be speaking to you all a bit more during my journey..... gilx

Any New Uk Sleevers Out There?

Hi everyone I'm in Paisley Scotland and getting sleeved March 26th by Mr Galloway in Glasgow. Great to see everyone doing so well. I've got a 2 week low fat diet to follow so fingers crossed I can do that. Trying to cut down at the moment as my joints are really aching and I'm at my highest weight ever As a failed bandster I am determined to make this op work for me. Just have major issues about dying and leaving my wee girl alone. But trying not to panic too much.... gilx

    Any March Sleevers?

Hiya My date is March 26th in Glasgow, Scotland I've got a slipped band but I did cheat it a lot so am scared of sabotaging the sleeve as well and mostly of dying and leaving my 3yr old daughter alone...Ultimately though I'm excited I've got a 2wk low fat diet to stick to before the op and am worried about that as I struggle to behave for 24hrs....hehe At the moment I'm trying to cut back as I got weighed recently and was heavier than I thought plus my joints are aching bad! Be lovely to go through this journey with you all. gilx

    Hellooooo can I join?

Thanks Annabelle - what a coincidence I met an Annabelle who was sleeved at the same time as me and we've been friends for years now She has done really well with the band. Sorry to hear about your illnesses, will the sleeve help with low cholesterol? gilx

    ____ years old and never...

This is a great thread as it makes me think of the stuff I have done - and really cheered me up. However I am 37 and NEVER been thin. If you discount my birthweight I have been in the obese category since about age 3. Even when I have lost large amounts of weight and having my band I was still in the obese category...shocking! Things I haven't done I'm not particularly bothered about (tattoos, bikinis, waxing). Hmm making me think what my ambition is for when I'm slim. gilx
