Hello everyone I am a 65 yr old widow from Central NJ and was sleeved on Nov 29th. My goal is to lose 150 lbs and become a "cougar" Surgery was Thursday...Friday I'm home feeling wonderful. Then bam...starting Saturday night something hit me...I had a Migraine, nothing staying down pain and misery. It took until Monday to realize the pain and nausea medication was giving me side effects. As soon as I stopped taking them I'm back to normal.
I even went back to work a week early:) In no way shape or form is this an easy fix as many ppl believe....I'm just glad I had the opportunity, an excellant doctor, nutritionist and a family who supports my decision. As we travel on this road to a better life may I just say I never want to hear the words "CLEAR PROTEIN" ever again!

Good luck to you!! My surgery was also Nov 29th....May we all enjoy an easy journey on our new way of life

No apology needed for Venting! This is the place to do it...amoung friends. Unfortunately all we can do is listen and send hugs. I firmly believe in positive thinking....with the accountant you'll find a solution for both surgery and a payment plan for the IRS...soon a thinner you will be making affordable payments to the IRS. All Good

I did - i sent the bariatric advisor a link to where I could buy it online for $70 with free shipping, a reputable site too. I said I'd bring the liquid diet stuff back today, and have this expressed to me and save myself $150 at least. She said there no refunds, the liquid diet must be bought from them it is non negociable and that apparently I agreed to that, when I signed my credit card receipt because it said no refunds. I told her it is a huge scam, and it makes me feel like this surgery is a huge scam - and I've lost a lot of confidence in my doctor because of it.
I wonder if the doctor is aware of his bariatric advisor's side business. I, as have all Bariatric patients, spent more physical and mental pain let alone money during our journey and to have more money needlessly drained from our pockets should not be permitted. Please speak directly to your doctor....he might be able to correct this situation and restore your faith in him. Good luck!!

Practice the sipping part!!!
It hurts to gulp!
I did by mistake and the gas pain had me doubled over!!!
Even when you think your sipping try harder...
I thought I practiced....boy was I wrong!
This is what scares me....the doubling over with gas. I've purchased straws for use outside my home and use childrens sippy cups at home....I keep telling myself not to rush. Thanks for the input!!

I have to laugh at the gulp and inhale, that is soooooo me lol. And seems to be the hardest for me to do I catch myself still doing it although I've not had the surgery I'm trying to perfect it before. Heres to "sipping & chewing“, best of luck!
LOL who would have thought the need to practice drinking and eating would arise ...Good luck to you too!!

LOL Boofster....I miss NNJ...going to the Brownstone in Paterson on Saturday. We should wave as we pass each other on the Parkway

Hi everyone...I'm a young 65 from Central Jersey. Being born a 12lb baby didn't help in this constant battle with weight. In my life I think only ten were....what I would consider....an acceptable weight. Due to certain circumstances I moved from my home in Northern Jersey to my niece's home here in Central Jersey. She is an OR RN in CentraState....spending many hours getting information from her I've finally decided to do the Sleeve. I have friends and other family members who have had the lapband successfully and a few not so successful, but for me I chosen the sleeve. I am following all the steps required for clearance..tentative date for surgery is Nov 29th
I've read and took notes on everything related to pre and post diets....read enough labels that I've become crossed-eyed ....and can honestly say I have no idea what I'll be consuming in about 2 weeks. The 2 words that
bring dread to my heart are "Sip and Chew" I have never in my life "Sipped or Chewed" I Gulp and Inhale.
I wish everyone on this site success....may we all reach our goals as painlessly as possible.
