Sleep Apnea Test...anything That Might Make Sleep Apnea Worse?
You may have sleep apnea & not even be aware of it as that is what happened in my case... I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea after my first sleep study. I returned for the CPAP study in which I was fitted for a mask & my breathing was regulated throughout the night. When I met with the pulmonary specialist a few weeks ago he said I go into apnea every two minutes while I sleep. Last week when I got my CPAP machine for home the therapist said every 50 minutes the machine was adjusted. Up until I had the studies, I thought I had sleep apnea b/c many nights I would wake up & my heart would be racing...& Dr. said that is when my body goes into 'flight mode' to keep me breathing. Pulmonary Dr. said I may not have to use the CPAP after my surgery as some times sleep apnea can come from your body's anatomy. I have been using my CPAP at home for a week now & I sleep like I never have before !!

New To Vsg!
Welcome... I am pre-op...started this WLS journey in July. I just finished my CPAP study on Halloween and go to the Pulmonary Specialist today. I just got my surgery date which is January 21st. So happy because I can't believe it is finally going to be here. So far on this journey I have lost 44 pounds by cutting out all processed and sugary foods and exercising for 45 minutes four times a week. I have found an abundant amount of information on this forum as well as many great people to chat with. Good luck to you !!

Rating protein powders
I am Pre-op and use Pure Protein Vanilla Creme. I mix it with s/f jello or puddings and flavorings. I mix pistachio s/f pudding with almond flavoring; orange s/f jello w/ vanilla flavoring; s/f chocolate pudding w/2 Tbsp of peanut butter; s/f butterscotch pudding with 2 tbsp of peanut butter....just a few of the different flavors I like the best. If you want to get more protein just add Greek yogurt & dry non-fat milk. Chobani Apple Cinnamon yogurt 14 g; 1/3 cup dry non fat milk 8 g; 1 scoop of Pure Protein 25 g...47 g of protein...It's a good start on protein for the day

Pre Op Weight Loss
I as well have lost weight in the past but never been able to keep it off. Since I started my pre-surgery journey in July I have lost 44 lbs. My pre-surgery 5% weight loss I met by my second appointment with Dr. I think knowing that the sleeve is a tool that is going to help me maintain weight loss and finally be at a healthy weight keeps me motivated. I've had many people tell me that I can lose the weight and don't need surgery but what they don't understand is how hard it is to keep the weight off once you lose it. I've been there and done that many times before.

On My 7Th Day Of My L.q. Diet, 7 Days To Go, Then Sleeved!
Congratulations on your weight loss and upcoming Sleeve date!! I am Pre-Op and have lost 44 pounds since July and went from a size 28 to a size 20. I have been following a low carb lifestyle which I think will help with the liquid diet as well. I have a protein shake for breakfast, Greek yogurt for lunch and a light dinner. I try to walk at least three times a week on my treadmill along with weight training.A lot of the dinner's I prepare I do in a low carb way like making mac & cheese I use cauliflower for...I also have made lasagna with Dreamfield pasta as there is 5g of carb instead of 41g and it tastes the same.

Protein Shake Combos
I just sprinkle the s/f jello or puddings in the mix and either shake it in my Blender Bottle or I use the electric blender. I purchased a small container of the Pure Protein Vanilla Creme to make sure I like it before buying the big container. I am going to try s/f cheesecake pudding w/blueberry Greek yogurt.

Protein Shake Combos
I use Pure Protein Vanilla Creme powder & mix it with different s/f jello's or puddings as well as flavorings to make different kinds of shakes. Two of my favorites are s/f pistachio pudding w/almond flavoring and s/f chocolate pudding w/ 2Tbsp of Peanut Butter...One scoop of protein powder has 25 g of protein...sometimes I ad Greek yogurt 14 g and 1/3 cup of non-fat dry milk 8 g...so one with all of these has 47 g of protein. Another shake I like is pineapple Greek yogurt w/ s/f orange jello. I also have found that there is no aftertaste from this protein powder. Just some things that I've tried.

Wanting To Make My Own Protien Shakes
Hello... I use Pure Protein Vanilla Creme & mix in sugar free jello's or puddings to make different flavors..some of my favorites are s/f chocolate pudding with 2 tbsp of peanut butter or s/f pistachio pudding with almond flavoring added to 12 oz of water, some ice and 1 scoop of the protein powder...Have tried many other combinations like s/f orange jello (creamsicle), s/f lemon pudding...this morning I tried s/f chocolate pudding with a packet of chocolate raspberry truffle instant coffee and it was really good...you can also add greek yogurt to boost protein from 25g to 39g...Prior to my nutrition appointment I always used Atkins but I found this to be much less $ and more tasty and doesn't leave the after taste.

Was Considering Lapband, But Dr Suggested This.
I was first considering the Lap Band as well but I started researching the Sleeve which I seem to think is a better choice. Yesterday, I had my third appointment with the surgeon and I told him that I had changed my mind to the Sleeve and he asked me why. I told him first when I attended the support group a few weeks ago no one in the group had the Lap Band nor was waiting to have it done...everyone either had the Sleeve or RNY. He did state that he believes I made the right decision and many of the Lap Bands their practice has performed are being revised to the Sleeve. He said I would have much more success with the Sleeve and their practice has only had one patient with a leak which was fixed by a revision to RNY. He did explain many of the different complications patients have with the Lap Band like slippage, port revision and body rejection. I have found an abundant amount of support in this decision from many people on this forum as well as the support groups offered. I wish you the best of luck with whatever decision that you choose!!

Cpap Study
My third visit with the surgeon was yesterday. I have completed all of my pre-surgery requirements; however, he stated that I have a severe case of obstructive sleep apnea and the only missing piece to the puzzle is the CPAP study. I wasn't scheduled for this until November 17th but I called the Sleep Center yesterday & they were able to change my appointment to next Wednesday!! Have any of you had to have this follow up study done & what does it consist of? I am hoping to get a sleeve date in late Nov. early Dec. Since this WLS journey began in July I have lost over 40 pounds and many inches as I have went from a size 28 to a 20!!!
