  1. Ive had Chronic Fatigue for sometime and it's wierd I will have times where I feel ok my energy is alright then I go for weeks at a time where I literally have to force my butt out of bed in the morning. Thank God im on my feet all day long at work if I sat down i'd not get back up. I had surgery on 2/19 I am hoping that all the protein I will be eating will help with the tiredness. I have no idea how much protein I ate prior to surgery but im thinking positive. Also I would like to get into a gym as soon as my surgeon clears me for it. If you find out any secrets that help you please let me know I'd love to have things to try. :}
  2. Multivitamins, vit D, B vitamins should be taken in the morning so your body gets the benifit out of it thruought the day and your Calcium at night would be good. This is how I have always been told to take mine, that info is from my PCP, NUT and people at Vitamin World. Hope this helps :}

    I had surgery on 2~19 and yesterday the scale was +6 pounds since surgery, it is messing with my mind big time. I know there is NO POSSIBLE WAY ive gained weight, I got a pair of pants on & zipped (I could even breathe) that I haven't been able to wear for months & several people have comment on me losing weight that didn't know I had surgery. So im at a loss as to what's going on with me, im assuming my body is still in shock and it will work itself out cus im definatley not eating anywhere near what I was b4 surgery. Hang in there & we will get thru it. Keep in touch with me and let me know how your doing I would really like to know :} Katrina
  4. @Marymouse50, I'd like to know what brand is that fruit flavored protein water you mentioned? I had surgery on the 19th and am in need of some idea's for getting my protein and liquids in. I live in a small town and don't have a GNC or place like that but we have Walmart :} Thanks in advance for your help
  5. I hear ya, my niece was selling them and I was a nice auntie and got orders from co workers and friends and ended up with 180 boxes being delivered to me so I could get them passed out to all who ordered and some ended up staying at my house as well for my husband. I told him I don't care if you eat then I just DO NOT WANT to be told how good they taste and I have been ok about them but the other night he made a bag of popcorn and I have now forbid him from making popcorn in the house until im far enough along to partake, popcorn has always been a favorite of mine and as im laying in bed trying to go to sleep my mouth is just watering like crazy, I finally had to close the door and light a candle was afraid I was going to drown in my own saliva........lol I hope they eat them quick and get them out of your sight, thank goodness Girl Scout cookies only come around once a year :}~
  6. O.T.R. sleever ~ Those are some good idea's, I had not thought of using things like those for examples. I will for sure remember your words :} I'm glad your here to help
  7. This is why I stopped telling people I was having the surgery. I was so tired of hearing "your taking the easy way out"...... well there just ignorant. Even if I was the laziest person in the world, by no means is this "EASY" I had surgery on 2-19 I do NOT regret it but having this surgery has changed every aspect of my life and my family. Mostly for the positive but it has it's work involved in it. The last person who told me that I told her to come on this site and read others post's and told her to figure out what you will be able to eat, how much planning will go into every meal and then on. Yes I have bee dealing with weight issues my whole life and have not been able to lose in the past 7 years due to major health issues but was also told by 3 Dr's that I need to lose at least 100 lbs or I wont be walking soon, I started at 285. She did come back to me and apologize and said she had no idea how involved it was and what life changes you have to make. So I have just decided to keep things to myself and once the weight is coming off then I will learn how to deal with people's comments. Until then only the important people in my life need to know what im doing. I wish you the very best of luck with your surgery, it is an amazing journey I hope you enjoy it :}
  8. He did my surgery out of North Vista Hospital and them also I have nothing but good to say about them. My husband was also pleased all the way around with my care and Dr's attitude. He really liked him and the office staff.
  9. I had my surgery on 2-19-13 and have my post op apt on Monday. I absolutely love the Dr and everyone in his office are very caring and awesome. I have not 1 complaint about them or the way he did my surgery. I wish I lived in Vegas so I could go to the support meetings. Have you started going to him yet?
  10. I noticed the same thing. The last few days I have been rubbing on every wall corner cus I have this horrible dry patch on my back and can't ever seem to get enough lotion on it. But my whole body has been itching badly, I even noticed my scalp was dry and itchy today after my shower. I am trying to keep lotion on because im hoping it will help my skins elasticity as im losing. I also plan to start taking collagen. I am going to ask my surgeon at my post op apt on Monday. I had surgery done on the 19th. If you find something that works real well please let me know.
  11. @hollirrose~ how may pieces and how long do you micro? Im new to all this and have either been not cooking long enough or too long. Any advise would be awesome. Thanks in advance :}
  12. I just did it in my fitness pal and used the brand pepperoni and how many slices I used and took there totals.
  13. I had surgery on the 19th and had the same issue. I didn't take any anti nausea meds (other than what they may have given me b4 surgery) and I only took 2 pain pills and a couple anxiety pills. I am diabetic and take insulin and my blood sugars & insulin intake have not been what they usually are so I wasn't sure if it was that or what. It lasted about 5~6 days and now im back to normal (well as normal as I can be I guess) I think all in all our bodies have been turned upside down and inside out and a little blurry vision is acceptable......lol I hope you recovery quickly and have much success with your new sleeve :}
  14. @Karen, is that 20 gr carbs a meal or per day? Sorry for the stupid ?'s I should know this stuff. I was sleeved on 2/19 but the NUT I saw prior to surgery well lets just say I knew less coming out of her office then I did going in. My surgery was a week ago today and im still only doing broth, pop-cycles, decaf teas, Crystal light. I have tried a scrambled egg a couple times & my tummy did not like that so I will wait a while longer. Now that im going into week 2 I have no clue what to add but I know I need to start getting in my protein. I know I need 64+oz of fluid and will start trying for 40g protein but other than that i'm clueless as to how many calories, carbs, all the other things I need. Then read on here today that a few people's Dr's are saying 3 meals only a day no snacks, if this is the case im in big trouble. Sorry for my rant im just a bit frustrated, I was trying to be "prepared" but doesn't look like with my NUT I even have a clue. Thanks for letting me vent :}
  15. Grubb79 can I ask how much unflavored protein powder you add to how much crystal light? I have tried adding per glass and it just doesn't work out right. also what flavors Crystal do you use when you add the protein powder to it? Thank you in advance for your help :} Katrina
  16. Hazel I tried looking it up and couldn't get any nutrition info on it. Do you know what the sodium is?
  17. what I was told specifically by my Dr and his nurse also from the nurses in the pre op room at the hospital you will not want to take any nsaid's like ibuprofen, Motrin, aspirin. NOTHING with aspirin in it. it thins out your blood and can cause issues internally. Please ask your Dr to make sure but that is what ive been told by everyone even on the paperwork I filled out/
  18. I wish I could say that about my diabetes. Pre op I was only using 30 units pm 20 units pm and only had to use my novolog a few times in very small doses and my sugars were ranging 110 - 210. since surgery im finding them up into the 360's i think its alot of anxiety, I hope anyway im praying I can get off the insulin totally. I have removed my OnQ pain ball so maybe that will help too.
  19. I just had surgery on Tuesday the 19th. Im currently 256lbs and by Easter my loss goal is 246lbs that would be a 10lb loss. since this is the beginning of my journey I don't have any clue how the weight loss will work but I think 10lbs is a good #. Thanks for letting me join the Easter Challenge. Katrina :}
  20. I had surgery on Tuesday the 19th, that night went ok but the next morning I started throwing up and did so about 5 times that day. then on Thursday I threw up every-time I drank anything even the smallest sip it didn't matter if it were water crystal light, juice whatever. I threw up about 30 times. went to my surgeon and he told me it was anxiety and gave me a Rx for nasuea & anxiety meds. got the anxiety med but the nausea ones were $346 so those were a definite nooooooooooooooo. I had my surgery in Las Vegas and had to stay in town for 2 days after because I don't have any bariatric Dr's in my town. now that im home I am feeling better have not thrown up only issue now is im not sleeping much. I don't regret surgery im just a lil confused because I thought things would go a little smoother. I tried to prepare but I guess you really cant, because you never know what your body is going to do or how it will react. I wish everyone out there the best of luck with there surgeries and there recovery's. Katrina :}
  21. I had surgery on Tuesday the 19th in Las Vegas and had to stay in town for 2 days after surgery just in case since my town has no bariatric Dr's. for the first 2 days after surgery everything I drank be~it Water, crystal light beef broth I threw it all up Wednesday I only threw up 5 times but yesterday I threw up about 30. went and saw my surgeon and he told me it was mostly from anxiety which make sense It is very hard for me to have people do things for me and it was horrible staying in the hotel room and ive been feeling bad. My surgeon told us to throw out everything I know and just use anything I can keep down for the moment. We are home now and I feel better havent thrown up at all. My hubby and daughter went out and bought me some SF Popsicles, SF Snapple tea, and poweraide. I have tried the popsicles and snapple and been doing ok. tonight he made me some chicken Soup and strained out the noodles and it felt awesome. Then I made a cup of warm orange constant comment tea and it felt good too. My ? for you all did you have better luck with warm things or cool things? I normally like everything cold but would love to hear from you all and hear your suggestions. Please any help would be awesome. Thank you in advance :} Katrina
  22. I totally know what you mean, I started my pre~op diet on 2/4/13 my surgery is on 2/19/13. The 1st 3 days were the worst I had a horrible headache and felt like I was going to puke all day long. I was at the dollar store and saw a little boy maybe 2y/o and thought to myself no ones looking I wonder if he will scream if I take his cracker from him?????? No no no I didn't I used my will power and walked out of the store cus every dang isle I walked down he was there eating that cracker and looking at me. I am better now that ive been on it for a few days, even took my husband to Outback (his fav) last night for Valentine's Day & I was amazed and sooooooooooo proud of myself, I didn't cheat :} But truthfully I just keep telling myself "KEEP YOUR EYE'S ON THE PRIZE" and it has helped me mentally. I wish you the best for your journey and your new life :}
  23. I don't know what the issue with it is, it was written in Comic sans size 12 there's no cursive so i'm re~posting it in Arial size 18. If you can't see I don't know what else to do no one else has said they cant read it. Sorry in advance if this is long and I ramble a bit, I just need to say something's out loud and I am hoping you all understand and don't mind me talkin' :} My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday the 19th in Las Vegas with Dr. Thomas Umbach. I have been on my pre surgery diet for a few days now and am finally doing ok and not wanting to attack and steal crackers from a 2 y/o who was eating them as he passed me by on Sunday....lol I have been soooooooooo freaking emotional the past week, i'm sure part of it is the lack of food, caffeine, nerves about surgery and being that time of month didn't help. I have only had 1 surgery before and it was foot surgery so I know everything about this surgery is going to be very different. When I had that surgery I did not come out of the anesthesia very well made me very nauseous and I was looped out for several hours. I do have my fears that something will happen to me during surgery and I won't come thru it. But I trust my Dr and his experience with doing this surgery. I would be stupid to think there are no risks or complications (I usually see all the bad before the good has a chance to peek thru) I think my biggest fears are how will I do with the anesthesia & the "not knowing" what to expect (like how much pain I will be in, how hard it will be to drink, how i'm going to handle new things for the 1st time after my new tummy) I know I will lose weight and I have already made up my mind that I didn't get this big over night and i'm not going to lose it all over night either. My goal is to lose 10lbs a month and become a healthier better me, to get off the insulin, have less pain from my arthritis, fibro & nuropathy. I have never really been one to exercise but I have been walking as much as I can and I have already gotten things started with a personal trainer and a program once I am cleared for exercise and until i'm cleared I will continue to walk and get my stamina built up. I want to say THANK YOU to Alex Brecher for this website and for making it possible for people like us to talk to others who know where were coming from and understand our feelings. The staff here have been awesome also and to A LOT of the members here who share there journey & photo's with the rest of us. Who give us support and are willing to answer questions (even dumb ones....lol) give us a kick in the pants when we need it and the courage to keep going. I have learned so much from reading post after post, my daughter thinks i'm crazy because I "take notes". I hope at some point I will be able to help someone else out and inspire someone to keep plugging along and take the steps needed to become healthy and happy :} Thank you in advance if you read this, I do appreciate you all. I just needed to say it all out loud I guess and I only have a few supporters that I can talk to without judgement and cruel words. Thanks again, Katrina :} God bless all those who have upcoming surgeries. I will be looking out for your stories & updates.
